1 Und es nahten Davids Tage, daß er sterben sollte, und er gebot Salomoh, seinem Sohne, und sprach:

And the days of David drew near that he should die: and he addressed his son Solomon, saying, I go the way of all the earth:

2 Ich gehe hin den Weg aller Erde. Sei stark und sei ein Mann.

but be you strong, and show yourself a man;

3 Und warte der Hut Jehovahs, deines Gottes, daß du in Seinen Wegen wandelst und hältst Seine Satzungen, Seine Gebote und Seine Rechte und Seine Zeugnisse, wie geschrieben ist im Gesetze Moses, auf daß du klug seiest in allem was du tust, und in allem wohin du dich wendest.

and keep the charge of the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, to keep the commandments and the ordinances and the judgements which are written in the law of Moses; that you may understand what you shall do in all things that I command you:

4 Und daß Jehovah bestätige Sein Wort, das Er über mich geredet hat und sprach: Wenn deine Söhne ihren Weg halten, daß sie in Wahrheit vor Mir wandeln von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele, soll, sage Ich dir, nie ein Mann ausgerottet werden vom Throne Israel.

that the Lord may confirm his word which he spoke, saying, If your children shall take heed to their way to walk before me in truth with all their heart, [I promise you], saying, there shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.

5 Und du weißt auch, was Joab, der Sohn Zerujahs, mir getan, was er getan hat den zwei Obersten des Heeres Israels, dem Abner, dem Sohne Ners, und dem Amasa, dem Sohne Jethers, und hat sie erwürgt; und er vergoß Blut des Krieges im Frieden, und brachte Blut des Krieges an seinen Gürtel, der um seine Lenden war, und an seinen Schuh an seinen Füßen.

Moreover you know all that Joab the son of Saruia did to me, what he did to the two captains of the forces of Israel, to Abenner the son of Ner, and to Amessai the son of Jether, that he killed them, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put innocent blood on his girdle that was about his loins, and on his sandal that was on his foot.

6 Aber tue nach deiner Weisheit, und laß sein Greisenhaar nicht im Frieden in die Gruft hinabgehen. (Sheol h7585)

Therefore you shall deal [with him] according to your wisdom, and you shall not bring down his grey hairs in peace to the grave. (Sheol h7585)

7 Aber den Söhnen Barsillais, des Gileaditers, sollst du Barmherzigkeit tun; und sie sollen unter denen sein, die an deinem Tische essen; denn so nahten sie mir, als ich vor Absalom, deinem Bruder, entwich.

But you shall deal kindly with the sons of Berzelli the Galaadite, and they shall be amongst those that eat at your table; for thus they drew near to me when I fled from the face of your brother Abessalom.

8 Und siehe, bei dir ist Schimei, der Sohn Geras, der Benjaminiter aus Bachurim, der heillosen Fluch wider mich fluchte am Tage, da ich nach Machanajim zog; er kam aber herab, mir entgegen, an den Jordan, und ich schwur ihm bei Jehovah und sprach: Ich will dich nicht durch das Schwert töten.

And, behold, [there is] with you Semei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Baurim: and he cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went into the camp; and he came down to Jordan to meet me, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying, I will not put you to death with the sword.

9 Nun aber sollst du ihn nicht ungestraft lassen; denn du bist ein weiser Mann und weißt, was du ihm tun sollst, daß du sein Greisenhaar mit Blut in die Gruft hinabbringst. (Sheol h7585)

But you shall by no means hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man, and will know what you shall do to him, and shall bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave. (Sheol h7585)

10 Und David lag bei seinen Vätern und ward in der Stadt Davids begraben.

And David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

11 Und der Tage, die David König war über Israel, waren vierzig Jahre. In Chebron regierte er sieben Jahre, und in Jerusalem war er dreiunddreißig Jahre König.

And the days which David reigned over Israel [were] forty years; he reigned seven years in Chebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

12 Salomoh aber saß auf dem Throne Davids, seines Vaters, und sein Königtum ward sehr befestigt.

And Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was established greatly.

13 Und Adonjahu, der Sohn der Chaggith, kam zu Bath-Scheba, der Mutter Salomohs; und sie sprach: Kommst du im Frieden? Und er sprach: Im Frieden.

And Adonias the son of Aggith came in to Bersabee the mother of Solomon, and did obeisance to her: and she said, Do you enter peaceably? and he said, Peaceably:

14 Und er sprach: Ich habe ein Wort an dich. Und sie sprach: Rede.

I have business with you. And she said to him, Say on.

15 Und er sprach: Du weißt, daß mein das Königtum war, und daß ganz Israel sein Angesicht auf mich setzte, daß ich sollte König sein. Aber das Königtum hat sich nun umgewendet und ist meines Bruders geworden, weil es sein war von Jehovah.

And he said to her, You know that the kingdom was mine, and all Israel turned their face towards me for a king; but the kingdom was turned [from me] and became my brother's: for it was [appointed] to him from the Lord.

16 Und nun habe ich eine Bitte von dir zu erbitten, weise mich nicht zurück. Und sie sprach zu ihm: Rede.

And now I make one request of you, do not turn away your face. And Bersabee said to him, Speak [on].

17 Und er sprach: Sprich doch mit Salomoh, dem König; denn dein Angesicht wird er nicht zurückweisen, daß er mir Abischag, die Schunamitin, zum Weibe gebe.

And he said to her, Speak, I pray you, to king Solomon, for he will not turn away his face from you, and let him give me Abisag the Somanite for a wife.

18 Und Bath-Scheba sprach: Gut! Ich will wegen deiner zum König reden.

And Bersabee said, Well; I will speak for you to the king.

19 Und Bath-Scheba kam hinein zum König Salomoh, um zu ihm über Adonjahu zu reden. Und der König stand auf, ihr entgegen, und verbeugte sich vor ihr, und setzte sich auf seinen Thron und ließ der Mutter des Königs einen Thron stellen, und sie setzte sich zu seiner Rechten.

And Bersabee went in to king Solomon to speak to him concerning Adonias; and the king rose up to meet her, and kissed her, and sat on the throne, and a throne was set for the mother of the king, and she sat on his right hand.

20 Und sie sprach: Eine kleine Bitte habe ich von dir zu erbitten. Weise mein Angesicht nicht zurück. Und der König sprach zu ihr: Bitte, meine Mutter, ich werde dein Angesicht nicht zurückweisen.

And she said to him, I ask of you one little request; turn not away my face from you. And the king said to her, Ask, my mother, and I will not reject you.

21 Und sie sprach: Man gebe Abischag, die Schunamitin, dem Adonjahu, deinem Bruder, zum Weibe.

And she said, Let, I pray you, Abisag the Somanite be given to Adonias your brother to wife.

22 Und der König Salomoh antwortete und sprach zu seiner Mutter: Und warum bittest du um Abischag, die Schunamitin, für Adonjahu? Und bitte für ihn um das Königtum; denn er ist mein größerer Bruder; für ihn und für Abjathar, den Priester, und für Joab, den Sohn Zerujahs.

And king Solomon answered and said to his mother, And why have you asked Abisag for Adonias? ask for him the kingdom also; for he [is] my elder brother, and he has for his companion Abiathar the priest, and Joab the son of Saruia the commander-in-chief.

23 Und der König Salomoh schwur bei Jehovah und sprach: So tue mir Gott und so fahre Er fort. Um seine Seele hat Adonjahu dieses Wort geredet.

And king Solomon swore by the Lord, saying, God do so to me, and more also, [if it be not] that Adonias has spoken this word against his own life.

24 Und nun, beim Leben Jehovahs, Der mich hat befestigt und hat sitzen lassen auf dem Throne Davids, meines Vaters, und mir ein Haus gemacht, wie Er geredet hat. Fürwahr, an diesem Tage soll Adonjahu sterben!

And now [as] the Lord lives who has established me, and set me on the throne of my father David, and he has made me a house, as the Lord spoke, this day shall Adonias be put to death.

25 Und der König Salomoh sandte durch die Hand Benajahus, des Sohnes Jehojadas, und er stieß ihn nieder, und er starb.

So king Solomon sent by the hand of Banaeas the son of Jodae, and he killed him, and Adonias died in that day.

26 Und zu Abjathar, dem Priester, sprach der König: Gehe nach Anathot auf dein Feld; denn du bist ein Mann des Todes, aber an diesem Tage laß ich dich nicht töten, weil du die Lade des Herrn Jehovah vor David, meinem Vater, getragen, und weil du bedrückt warst in allem, worin mein Vater bedrückt war.

And the king said to Abiathar the priest, Depart you quickly to Anathoth to your farm, for you are worthy of death this day; but I will not kill you, because you have borne the ark of the covenant of the Lord before my father, and because you was afflicted in all things wherein my father was afflicted.

27 Und Salomoh verstieß den Abjathar vom Priesterdienst des Jehovah, auf daß erfüllt würde das Wort Jehovahs, das Er über Elis Haus in Schiloh geredet hatte.

And Solomon removed Abiathar from being a priest of the Lord, that the word of the Lord might be fulfilled, which he spoke concerning the house of Heli in Selom.

28 Und das Gericht kam zu Joab - denn Joab hatte sich nach dem Adonjahu geneigt, wiewohl er sich nicht nach dem Absalom geneigt - und Joab floh zum Zelt Jehovahs und erfaßte die Hörner des Altars.

And the report came to Joab son of Saruia; for Joab had turned after Adonias, and he went not after Solomon: and Joab fled to the tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold of the horns of the altar.

29 Und es ward dem Könige Salomoh angesagt: Joab ist zum Zelt Jehovahs geflohen, und siehe, er ist neben dem Altar. Und Salomoh sandte Benajahu, den Sohn Jehojadas, und sprach: Gehe, stoß ihn nieder.

And it was told Solomon, saying, Joab has fled to the tabernacle of the Lord, and behold! he has hold of the horns of the altar. And king Solomon sent to Joab, saying, What ails you, that you have fled to the altar? and Joab said, Because I was afraid of you, and fled for refuge to the Lord. And Solomon sent Banaeas son of Jodae, saying, Go and kill him, and bury him.

30 Und Benajahu kam zum Zelt Jehovahs und sprach zu ihm: So spricht der König: Komm heraus! Er aber sprach: Nein, sondern hier will ich sterben. Und Benajahu brachte dem König das Wort zurück und sprach: So redete Joab und so antwortete er mir.

And Banaeas son of Jodae came to Joab to the tabernacle of the Lord, and said to him, Thus says the king, Come forth. And Joab said, I will not come forth, for I will die here. And Banaeas son of Jodae returned and spoke to the king, saying, Thus has Joab spoken, and thus has he answered me.

31 Und der König sprach zu ihm: Tue, wie er geredet hat, und stoß ihn nieder und begrabe ihn; auf daß du das schuldlose Blut, das Joab vergossen, von mir und von meines Vaters Haus wegnehmest.

And the king said to him, Go, and do to him as he has spoken, and kill him: and you shall bury him, and you shall remove this day the blood which he shed without cause, from me and from the house of my father.

32 Und Jehovah bringe sein Blut zurück auf sein Haupt; daß er zwei Männer niederstieß, gerechter und besser denn er, und die er mit dem Schwerte erwürgt, ohne daß mein Vater David darum wußte: Abner, den Sohn Ners, den Obersten des Heeres Israels, und Amasa, den Sohn Jethers, den Obersten des Heeres Judahs.

And the Lord has returned upon his own head the blood of his unrighteousness, inasmuch as he attacked two men more righteous and better than himself, and killed them with the sword, and my father David knew not of their blood, [even] Abenner the son of Ner the commander-in-chief of Israel, and Amessa the son of Jether the commander-in-chief of Juda.

33 Und ihr Blut komme auf das Haupt Joabs und auf das Haupt seines Samens ewiglich; aber für David und für seinen Samen und für sein Haus und für seinen Thron wird von Jehovah Friede sein in Ewigkeit.

And their blood is returned upon his head, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but to David, and his seed, and his house, and his throne, may there be peace for ever from the Lord.

34 Und Benajahu, der Sohn Jehojadas, ging hinauf und stieß ihn nieder und tötete ihn, und er ward in seinem Hause in der Wüste begraben.

So Banaeas son of Jodae went up, and attacked him, and killed him, and buried him in his house in the wilderness.

35 Und der König setzte Benajahu, den Sohn Jehojadas, an seine Stelle über das Heer, und Zadok, den Priester, setzte der König an die Stelle Abjathars.

And the king appointed Banaeas son of Jodae in his place over the host; and the kingdom was established in Jerusalem; and [as for] Sadoc the priest, the king appointed him to be high priest in the room of Abiathar. And Solomon son of David reigned over Israel and Juda in Jerusalem: and the Lord gave understanding to Solomon, and very much wisdom, and largeness of heart, as the sand by the sea-shore.

36 Und der König sandte hin und ließ Schimei rufen und sprach zu ihm: Baue dir ein Haus zu Jerusalem und wohne daselbst, und gehe nicht von dannen hinaus, dahin, noch dorthin.

37 Denn es wird geschehen, daß, welchen Tages du hinausgehst und über den Bach Kidron setzest, sollst du wissen, daß du des Todes sterben mußt. Dein Blut sei auf deinem Haupt.

38 Und Schimei sprach zum König: Das Wort ist gut; wie mein Herr, der König, geredet hat, so wird dein Knecht tun. Und Schimei wohnte viele Tage zu Jerusalem.

39 Und es geschah am Ende von drei Jahren, daß zwei Knechte dem Schimei entwichen zu Achisch, dem Sohne Maachahs, dem Könige zu Gath, und sie sagten dem Schimei an und sprachen: Siehe, deine Knechte sind in Gath.

40 Und Schimei machte sich auf und sattelte seinen Esel und ging nach Gath zu Achisch, um seine Knechte zu suchen; und Schimei ging hin und brachte seine Knechte herein von Gath.

41 Und es ward dem Salomoh angesagt: Schimei sei von Jerusalem weggegangen nach Gath und von da zurückgekehrt.

42 Und der König sandte hin und ließ den Schimei rufen und sprach zu ihm: Habe ich dir nicht bei Jehovah geschworen, und dir bezeugt und gesagt: Welchen Tages du hinausziehst und dahin oder dorthin gehst, sollest du wissen, daß du des Todes sterben müssest, und du sprachst zu mir: Gut ist das Wort, das ich gehört habe.

43 Und warum hast du nicht den Schwur vor Jehovah gehalten und das Gebot, das ich dir geboten habe?

44 Und der König sprach zu Schimei: Du weißt all das Böse, das dein Herz weiß, das du David, meinem Vater, getan, und Jehovah hat dein Böses auf dein Haupt zurückgebracht.

45 Aber der König Salomoh ist gesegnet und der Thron Davids wird befestigt sein vor Jehovah in Ewigkeit.

46 Und der König befahl Benajahu, dem Sohne Jehojadas, und er ging hinaus und stieß ihn nieder und er starb. Und das Königtum ward befestigt in der Hand Salomohs.
