1 Und Elijahu, der Thischbiter, von den Beisassen Gileads, sprach zu Achab: Beim Leben Jehovahs, des Gottes Israels, vor Dem ich stehe, es wird diese Jahre weder Tau noch Regen sein, es geschehe denn auf Befehl meines Wortes.
And Eliiah the Tishbite one of the inhabitats of Gilead sayde vnto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liueth, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dewe nor rayne these yeeres, but according to my worde.
2 Und es geschah das Wort Jehovahs an ihn und sprach:
And the worde of the Lord came vnto him, saying,
3 Gehe von dannen und wende dich nach Morgen, und verbirg dich im Bachtal Kerith, das vor dem Jordan ist.
Go hence, and turne thee Eastwarde, and hide thy selfe in the riuer Cherith, that is ouer against Iorden,
4 Und es soll sein, daß du aus dem Bache sollst trinken, und den Raben habe Ich geboten, dich dort zu versorgen.
And thou shalt drinke of the riuer: and I haue comanded the rauens to feede thee there.
5 Und er ging hin und tat nach dem Worte Jehovahs, und er ging und blieb im Bachtale Kerith, das vor dem Jordan ist.
So he went and did according vnto the word of the Lord: for he went, and remained by the riuer Cherith that is ouer against Iorden.
6 Und die Raben brachten ihm Brot und Fleisch am Morgen, und Brot und Fleisch am Abend, und aus dem Bache trank er.
And the rauens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the euening, and he dranke of the riuer.
7 Und es geschah am Ende der Tage, daß der Bach vertrocknete, denn es war kein Regen im Lande.
And after a while the riuer dryed vp, because there fell no rayne vpon the earth.
8 Und es geschah das Wort Jehovahs an ihn und sprach:
And the worde of the Lord came vnto him, saying,
9 Mache dich auf und gehe hin nach Zarpath der Zidonier, und bleibe allda, siehe, Ich habe daselbst einem Weibe, einer Witwe geboten, dich zu versorgen.
Vp, and get thee to Zarephath, which is in Zidon, and remaine there: beholde, I haue commanded a widow there to sustaine thee.
10 Und er machte sich auf und ging nach Zarpath, und kam an den Eingang der Stadt, und siehe, da war ein Weib, eine Witwe, die Hölzer zusammenlas, und er rief ihr zu und sprach: Hole mir doch ein wenig Wasser in dem Gefäß auf daß ich trinke.
So he arose, and went to Zarephath: and when he came to the gate of the citie, beholde, the widowe was there gathering stickes: and he called her, and sayde, Bring me, I pray thee, a litle water in a vessel, that I may drinke.
11 Und sie ging es zu holen; und er rief ihr und sprach: Hole mir doch einen Bissen Brot in deiner Hand.
And as she was going to fet it, he called to her, and sayde, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsell of bread in thine hand.
12 Und sie sprach: Beim Leben Jehovahs, deines Gottes, ich habe nichts Gebackenes, nur eine Handvoll Mehl im Krug und ein wenig Öl im Krüglein, und siehe, ich lese eben zwei Hölzer zusammen und komme und mache es für mich und für meinen Sohn, daß wir essen und sterben.
And shee sayde, As the Lord thy God liueth, I haue not a cake, but euen an handfull of meale in a barrel, and a litle oyle in a cruse: and behold, I am gathering a fewe stickes for to go in, and dresse it for me and my sonne, that we may eate it, and dye.
13 Elijahu aber sprach zu ihr: Fürchte dich nicht, komme und tue nach deinem Worte, nur mache mir davon zuerst einen kleinen Kuchen, und bringe ihn mir heraus, dir aber und deinem Sohn sollst du es hernach machen.
And Eliiah said vnto her, Feare not, come, do as thou hast sayd, but make me thereof a litle cake first of all, and bring it vnto mee, and afterward make for thee, and thy sonne.
14 Denn so spricht Jehovah, der Gott Israels: Der Krug mit Mehl soll nicht alle werden, und dem Krüglein soll es an Öl nicht mangeln bis zu dem Tage, da Jehovah Regen auf dem Boden gibt.
For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The meale in the barrel shall not be wasted, neither shall the oyle in the cruse be diminished, vnto the time that the Lord send rayne vpon the earth.
15 Und sie ging und tat nach dem Worte Elijahus, und sie aß, sie und er und ihr Haus, die Tage.
So she went, and did as Eliiah sayd, and she did eate: so did he and her house for a certaine time.
16 Der Krug Mehl ward nicht alle, und das Krüglein Öl mangelte nicht, nach dem Worte Jehovahs, das Er durch die Hand Elijahus geredet hatte.
The barrell of the meale wasted not, nor the oyle was spent out of the cruse, according to the worde of the Lord, which he spake by the hand of Eliiah.
17 Und es geschah nach diesen Geschichten, daß der Sohn des Weibes, der Herrin des Hauses, erkrankte, und seine Krankheit ward sehr stark, daß kein Odem in ihm übrigblieb.
And after these things, the sonne of the wife of the house fell sicke, and his sicknesse was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
18 Und sie sprach zu Elijahu: Was ist mir und dir, Mann Gottes, bist du zu mir hereingekommen, daß meiner Missetat gedacht werde, und um meinen Sohn zu töten?
And she said vnto Eliiah, What haue I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come vnto me to call my sinne to remembrance, and to slay my sonne?
19 Und er sprach zu ihr: Gib mir deinen Sohn; und er nahm ihn von ihrem Busen und brachte ihn hinauf auf den Söller, wo er wohnte, und legte ihn auf sein Bett.
And he said vnto her, Giue me thy sonne. and he tooke him out of her bosome, and caryed him vp into a chamber, where he abode, and laid him vpon his owne bed.
20 Und er rief zu Jehovah und sprach: Jehovah, mein Gott, willst Du denn auch der Witwe, bei der ich mich als Fremdling aufhalte, Böses tun, daß Du ihren Sohn sterben lässest?
Then he called vnto the Lord, and sayde, O Lord my God, hast thou punished also this widowe, with whome I soiourne, by killing her sonne?
21 Und er maß sich zu dreien Malen über das Kind, und rief zu Jehovah und sprach: Jehovah, mein Gott, laß doch die Seele dieses Kindes in sein Inneres zurückkommen!
And he stretched himselfe vpon the childe three times, and called vnto the Lord, and saide, O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this childes soule come into him againe.
22 Und Jehovah hörte auf die Stimme Elijahus, und die Seele des Kindes kam zurück in sein Inneres, und es ward lebendig.
Then the Lord heard the voyce of Eliiah, and the soule of the child came into him againe, and he reuiued.
23 Und Elijahu nahm das Kind und brachte es vom Söller herab in das Haus und gab es seiner Mutter. Und Elijahu sprach: Siehe, dein Sohn lebt!
And Eliiah tooke the childe, and brought him downe out of the chamber into the house, and deliuered him vnto his mother, and Eliiah sayd, Behold, thy sonne liueth.
24 Und das Weib sprach zu Elijahu: Daran nun weiß ich, daß du ein Mann Gottes bist, und das Wort Jehovahs in deinem Munde Wahrheit ist.
And the woman saide vnto Eliiah, Now I knowe that thou art a man of God, and that the worde of the Lord in thy mouth is true.
