1 Johannes 5
1 Wer da glaubt, daß Jesus ist der Christ, Der ist aus Gott geboren; und wer da liebt Den, der Ihn gezeugt hat, der liebt auch Den, Der aus Ihm geboren ist.
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves him who has begotten also loves the one begotten of him.
2 Daran erkennen wir, daß wir Gottes Kinder lieben, wenn wir Gott lieben und Seine Gebote halten.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.
3 Denn das ist die Liebe zu Gott, daß wir Seine Gebote halten; und Seine Gebote sind nicht schwer.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
4 Denn alles, was aus Gott geboren ist, überwindet die Welt, und unser Glaube ist der Sieg, der die Welt überwunden hat.
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
5 Wer anders überwindet die Welt, wo nicht der, so da glaubt, daß Jesus der Sohn Gottes ist?
Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 Dieser ist es, Der da gekommen ist mit Wasser und Blut, Jesus Christus, nicht mit Wasser allein, sondern mit Wasser und Blut, und der Geist ist es, der da zeugt, weil der Geist die Wahrheit ist.
This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7 Denn drei sind, die da zeugen im Himmel: der Vater, das Wort und der Heilige Geist, und diese drei sind eins.
For there are three that testify:
8 Und drei sind, die da zeugen auf Erden: der Geist und das Wasser und das Blut, und diese drei sind eins.
the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three are in agreement.
9 So wir der Menschen Zeugnis annehmen, so ist Gottes Zeugnis noch größer; denn das ist Gottes Zeugnis, das Er von Seinem Sohne gezeugt hat.
If we receive the testimony of men, we should know that the testimony of God is greater, because it is the testimony that God has given about his Son.
10 Wer da glaubt an den Sohn Gottes, der hat das Zeugnis in ihm selber; wer nicht an Gott glaubt, der hat Ihn zum Lügner gemacht, weil er nicht geglaubt hat an das Zeugnis, das Gott von Seinem Sohn gezeugt hat.
Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given about his Son.
11 Und das ist das Zeugnis, daß Gott uns das ewige Leben gegeben hat, und solches Leben ist in Seinem Sohn. (aiōnios g166)
And this is the testimony, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
12 Wer den Sohn hat, der hat das Leben; wer den Sohn Gottes nicht hat, der hat das Leben nicht.
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
13 Solches habe ich euch geschrieben, die ihr an den Namen des Sohnes Gottes glaubt, auf daß ihr wißt, daß ihr ewiges Leben habt, und auf daß ihr glaubt an den Namen des Sohnes Gottes. (aiōnios g166)
I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life, and so that you may continue believing in the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
14 Und das ist die freudige Zuversicht, die wir zu Ihm haben, daß, so wir etwas bitten nach Seinem Willen, Er uns erhört.
This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
15 Und so wir wissen, daß Er uns erhört in dem, um was wir Ihn auch bitten mögen, so wissen wir, daß wir das von Ihm Erbetene erlangen.
And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him.
16 Wenn einer seinen Bruder eine Sünde begehen sieht, nicht zum Tode, so mag er bitten und Er wird ihm Leben schenken, denen, die da sündigen nicht zum Tode. Es gibt aber eine Sünde zum Tode, dafür sage ich nicht, daß er bitten soll.
If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray for him, and God will give him life. I refer to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that he should pray about that.
17 Alles Unrecht ist Sünde, aber es gibt eine Sünde, die nicht zum Tode ist.
All unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.
18 Wir wissen, daß, wer von Gott geboren ist, nicht sündigt, daß vielmehr der von Gott Geborene sich bewahrt und der Arge ihn nicht antastet.
We know that no one who has been born of God continues in sin, but he who is born of God guards himself, and the evil one does not touch him.
19 Wir wissen, daß wir aus Gott sind und die ganze Welt im Argen liegt.
We know that we are from God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
20 Wir wissen aber, daß der Sohn Gottes gekommen ist und uns Einsicht gegeben hat, daß wir den Wahrhaftigen erkennen, und so sind wir in dem Wahrhaftigen, in Seinem Sohne Jesus Christus. Dieser ist der wahrhaftige Gott und das ewige Leben. (aiōnios g166)
And we know that the Son of God has come and given us understanding so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
21 Kindlein, hütet euch vor den Abgöttern! Amen.
Little children, guard yourselves from idols. Amen.
