1 Korinther 8
1 Das Götzenopfer anlangend, wissen wir, -daß wir alle Erkenntnis haben; die Erkenntnis aber bläht auf, die Liebe erbaut.
Now as concerning things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.
2 So aber jemand sich dünken läßt, er wisse etwas, der hat noch nicht einmal erkannt, wie man etwas erkennen soll.
And if any man thinketh that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 So aber jemand Gott liebt, der ist von Ihm erkannt. -
But if any man loveth God, the same is known by him.
4 So wissen wir nun vom Essen der Götzenopfer, daß ein Götze nichts ist in der Welt, und daß es keinen anderen Gott gibt, als den Einen.
Therefore as concerning the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
5 Denn obgleich es dem Namen nach sowohl im Himmel als auf Erden welche gibt wie es denn viele Götter und viele Herren gibt,
For though there are that are called gods, whether in heaven or upon earth, as there are gods many, and lords many, )
6 So haben wir doch nur einen Gott, den Vater, von Dem alle Dinge sind und wir in Ihm, und einen Herrn, Jesus Christus, durch Den alle Dinge sind, und wir durch Ihn.
Yet to us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
7 Aber nicht in allen ist die Erkenntnis; denn etliche essen noch das Opferfleisch mit der Vorstellung, daß es Götzen gäbe, und ihr noch schwaches Gewissen wird dadurch befleckt.
But there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol to this hour eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8 Das Essen gibt vor Gott keinen Wert; denn wenn wir essen, sind wir nicht mehr, noch sind wir geringer, wenn wir nicht essen.
But food commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
9 Seht aber zu, daß die Freiheit, die ihr euch erlaubt, den Schwachen nicht zum Anstoß werde.
But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours should become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
10 Denn so einer dich, der du die Erkenntnis hast, in einem Götzentempel zu Tische sieht, wird nicht sein Gewissen, da er noch schwach ist, veranlaßt werden Götzenopfer zu speisen?
For if any man shall see thee who hast knowledge sit eating in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
11 Und so kommt über deiner Erkenntnis der schwache Bruder, für den Christus gestorben, zu Fall.
And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 Wenn ihr aber so gegen eure Brüder sündigt und verletzt ihr noch schwaches Gewissen, so sündigt ihr an Christus.
But when ye thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
