Sacharja 1

1 Im achten Monat des zweiten Jahres des Darius erging des HERRN Wort an Sacharja, den Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Iddos, den Propheten, also:

In the eighth month, in the second year of [the reign of] Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, the son of Barachias, the son of Addo, the prophet, saying,

2 Der HERR ist über eure Väter zornig gewesen!

The Lord has been very angry with your fathers.

3 Darum sollst du zu ihnen sagen: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Kehret um zu mir, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, so will ich mich zu euch kehren! spricht der HERR der Heerscharen.

And you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord Almighty: Turn to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will turn to you, says the Lord of hosts.

4 Seid nicht wie eure Väter, denen die frühern Propheten gepredigt und gesagt haben: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Kehret doch um von euren bösen Wegen und von euren schlimmen Taten! Sie hörten aber nicht und achteten nicht auf mich, spricht der HERR.

And be you not as your fathers, whom the prophets before charged, saying, Thus says the Lord Almighty: Turn you from your evil ways, and from your evil practices: but they listened not, and attended not to listen to me, says the Lord.

5 Wo sind nun eure Väter, und die Propheten, leben sie ewig?

Where are your fathers, and the prophets? Will they live for ever?

6 Aber meine Worte und meine Beschlüsse, welche ich meinen Knechten, den Propheten, zu verkündigen befohlen haben, haben sie nicht eure Väter getroffen, so daß sie umkehrten und sprachen: Wie der HERR der Heerscharen sich vorgenommen hatte, uns zu tun nach unserm Wandel und nach unsren Taten, so hat er uns auch getan?

But do you receive my words and mine ordinances, all that I command by my Spirit to my servants the prophets, who lived in the days of your fathers; and they answered and said, As the Lord Almighty determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so has he done to us.

7 Am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des elften Monats (das ist der Monat Schebat), im zweiten Jahre des Darius, erging das Wort des HERRN an Sacharja, den Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Iddos, den Propheten, also:

On the twenty-fourth [day] in the eleventh month, this is the month Sabat, in the second year of [the reign of] Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, the son of Barachias, the son of Addo, the prophet, saying,

8 Ich schaute bei Nacht und siehe, ein Mann ritt auf einem rötlichen Pferd, und er hielt unter den Myrten, die in der Tiefe stehen, und hinter ihm her rötliche, fuchsrote und weiße Rosse.

I saw by night, and behold a man mounted on a red horse, and he stood between the shady mountains; and behind him were red horses, and grey, and piebald, and white.

9 Da fragte ich: Mein Herr, was bedeuten diese? Da sprach der Engel, der mit mir redete, zu mir: Ich will dir zeigen, wer diese sind!

And I said, What are these, [my] lord? And the angel spoke with me said to me, I will show you what these [things] are.

10 Und der Mann, der zwischen den Myrten hielt, antwortete und sprach: Das sind die, welche der HERR gesandt hat, die Erde zu durchstreifen!

And the man that stood between the mountains answered, and said to me, These are [they] whom the Lord has sent forth to go round the earth.

11 Und sie antworteten dem Engel des HERRN, der zwischen den Myrten hielt, und sprachen: Wir haben die Erde durchstreift und siehe, die ganze Erde ist still und ruhig!

And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood between the mountains, and said, We have gone round all the earth, and, behold, all the earth is inhabited, and is at rest.

12 Da antwortete der Engel des HERRN und sprach: HERR der Heerscharen, wie lange willst du dich nicht erbarmen über Jerusalem und über die Städte Judas, über welche du gezürnt hast diese siebzig Jahre?

Then the angel of the Lord answered and said, O Lord Almighty, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem, and the cities of Juda, which you has disregarded these seventy years?

13 Da antwortete der HERR dem Engel, der zu mir redete, mit guten Worten und tröstlichen Worten.

And the Lord Almighty answered the angel that spoke with me good words and consolatory sayings.

14 Und der Engel, der mit mir redete, sprach zu mir: Predige und sprich: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Ich eifere für Jerusalem und für Zion mit großem Eifer

And the angel that spoke with me said to me, Cry out and say, Thus says the Lord Almighty; I have been jealous for Jerusalem and Sion with great jealousy.

15 und bin sehr erzürnt über die gleichgültigen Nationen; denn als ich nur ein wenig erzürnt war, halfen sie zum Unglück!

And I am very angry with the heathen that combine to attack [her]: forasmuch as I indeed was a little angry, but they combined to attack [her] for evil.

16 Darum spricht der HERR also: Ich habe mich Jerusalem wieder voll Erbarmen zugewandt; mein Haus soll darin gebaut werden, spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, und man wird die Meßschnur ausspannen über Jerusalem.

Therefore thus says the Lord: I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; and my house shall be rebuilt in her, says the Lord Almighty, and a measuring line shall yet be stretched out over Jerusalem.

17 Predige wiederum und sprich: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Meine Städte sollen wiederum von Gutem überfließen, und der HERR wird Zion wieder trösten und Jerusalem wieder erwählen!

And the angel that spoke with me said to me, Cry yet, and say, Thus says the Lord Almighty; Yet shall cities be spread abroad through prosperity; and the Lord shall yet have mercy upon Sion, and shall choose Jerusalem.

18 Und ich hob meine Augen auf und schaute und siehe, vier Hörner.

And I lifted up mine eyes and looked, and behold four horns.

19 Und ich fragte den Engel, der mit mir redete: Was bedeuten diese? Er sprach zu mir: Das sind die Hörner, welche Juda, Israel und Jerusalem zerstreut haben.

And I said to the angel that spoke with me, What are these things, [my] lord? And he said to me, These are the horns that have scattered Juda, and Israel, and Jerusalem.

20 Da ließ mich der HERR vier Schmiede sehen.

And the Lord showed me four artificers.

21 Und ich fragte: Was wollen diese machen? Er sprach: Jene sind die Hörner, welche Juda so versprengt haben, daß niemand mehr sein Haupt erheben durfte; aber diese sind gekommen, um sie abzuschrecken und die Hörner der Nationen niederzuwerfen, die ihr Horn gegen das Land Juda erhoben haben, um es zu zerstreuen.

And I said, What are these coming to do? And he said, These are the horns that scattered Juda, and they broke Israel in pieces, and none of them lifted up his head: and these are come forth to sharpen them for their hands, [even] the four horns, the nations that lifted up the horn against the land of the Lord to scatter it.
