Psalm 94
1 Gott der Rache, o HERR, du Gott der Rache, brich hervor!
O GOD of avenging—Yahweh, GOD of avenging, shine forth:
2 Erhebe dich, du Richter der Erde, gib den Stolzen ihren Lohn!
Lift up thyself, O judge of the earth, Render a recompense unto the proud.
3 Wie lange sollen die Gottlosen, o HERR, wie lange sollen die Gottlosen frohlocken?
How long shall the lawless, O Yahweh, How long shall the lawless exult?
4 Sie halten viele und freche Reden; stolz überheben sich alle Übeltäter.
They pour forth [words], they speak arrogantly, All the workers of iniquity, do boast:
5 Sie knebeln dein Volk, o HERR, und unterdrücken dein Erbteil.
Thy people, O Yahweh, they will crush, And, thine inheritance, tread down;
6 Sie erwürgen Witwen und Fremdlinge und ermorden Waisen;
The widow and sojourner, they will slay, And, the fatherless, murder.
7 und dann sagen sie: «Der HERR sieht es nicht, und der Gott Jakobs achtet es nicht!»
Yet have they said—Yah, doth not see, The God of Jacob, doth not understand.
8 Nehmt doch Verstand an, ihr Unvernünftigen unter dem Volk, ihr Toren, wann wollt ihr klug werden?
Understand, ye brutish among the people, And, ye dullards, when will ye show discretion?
9 Der das Ohr gepflanzt hat, sollte der nicht hören? Der das Auge gebildet hat, sollte der nicht sehen?
He that planteth the ear, shall he not hear? Or, that fashioneth the eye, shall he not have power to see?
10 Der die Nationen züchtigt, sollte der nicht strafen, er, der die Menschen Erkenntnis lehrt?
He that correcteth nations, shall he not reprove? He that teacheth man knowledge!
11 Der HERR kennt die Anschläge der Menschen, [weiß, ] daß sie vergeblich sind.
Yahweh, knoweth the plans of men, That, they, are a breath!
12 Wohl dem Mann, den du, HERR, züchtigst und den du aus deinem Gesetze belehrst,
How happy the man whom thou correctest, O Yah! And whom, out of thy law, thou instructest!
13 ihm Ruhe zu geben vor den Tagen des Unglücks, bis dem Gottlosen die Grube gegraben wird.
That thou mayest give him rest from the days of misfortune, Until there be digged—for the lawless one—a pit.
14 Denn der HERR wird sein Volk nicht verstoßen und sein Erbteil nicht verlassen;
For Yahweh, will not abandon, his people, And, his inheritance, will he not forsake;
15 denn zur Gerechtigkeit kehrt das Gericht zurück, und alle aufrichtigen Herzen werden ihm folgen!
For, unto righteousness, shall the judicial sentence return, Then shall follow it—all the upright in heart.
16 Wer steht mir bei wider die Bösen, wer tritt für mich ein wider die Übeltäter?
Who will rise up for me, against the evil-doers? Who will make a stand for me, against the workers of iniquity?
17 Wäre der HERR nicht meine Hilfe, wie bald würde meine Seele in der Totenstille wohnen!
If, Yahweh, had not been a help to me, Soon had sunk into silence—my soul!
18 Sooft ich aber auch sprach: «Mein Fuß ist wankend geworden», hat deine Gnade, o HERR, mich gestützt.
If I say, My foot, hath slipped, Thy lovingkindness, O Yahweh, supporteth me.
19 Bei den vielen Sorgen in meinem Herzen erquickten deine Tröstungen meine Seele.
In the multitude of my cares within me, Thy consolations, delight my soul.
20 Sollte mit dir Gemeinschaft haben der Thron des Verderbens, der Unheil schafft; durch Gesetz?
Shall the throne that inflicteth ruin, have fellowship with thee, That frameth oppression, by statute?
21 Sie greifen die Seele des Gerechten an und verdammen unschuldiges Blut.
They make an attack on the life of the righteous one, —And, innocent blood, they condemn.
22 Aber der HERR ward mir zur festen Burg, zum Felsen, wo ich Zuflucht fand.
But, Yahweh, hath become for me a high tower, And my God, my rock of refuge.
23 Und er ließ ihr Unrecht auf sie selber fallen, und er wird sie durch ihre eigene Bosheit vertilgen; der HERR, unser Gott, wird sie vertilgen.
Thus hath he brought back on them their iniquity, And, by their own wickedness, will he destroy them, Destroy them, will Yahweh our God.
