Psalm 9
1 Dem Vorsänger. Auf Muth-Labben. Ein Psalm Davids. Ich will den HERRN von ganzem Herzen loben, ich will alle deine Wunder erzählen.
Yahweh, I will praise you with all of my inner being. I will tell [others] about all the wonderful things that you have done.
2 Ich will mich freuen und in dir frohlocken, ich will deinen Namen besingen, du Höchster,
I will sing to celebrate what you [MTY], who are much greater than all other gods, [have done].
3 darob, daß meine Feinde zurückweichen, daß sie fallen und umkommen vor deinem Angesicht.
When my enemies realize [that you are very powerful], they stumble, and then they are killed.
4 Denn du hast mein Recht und meine Sache geführt, du sitzest als ein gerechter Richter auf dem Thron!
You sat on your throne to judge people, and you have judged fairly/justly concerning me.
5 Du hast die Heiden gescholten, den Gottlosen umgebracht, ihren Namen ausgetilgt auf immer und ewig.
You rebuked the [people of other] nations and you have gotten rid of the wicked people; you have erased their names forever.
6 Der Feind! er ist völlig und auf immer zertrümmert, und die Städte hast du zerstört, ihr Andenken ist dahin.
Our enemies have disappeared; you destroyed their cities, and people do not even remember them any more.
7 Aber der HERR bleibt ewig, er hat seinen Thron aufgestellt zum Gericht.
But Yahweh rules forever. He judges [people while he sits] on his throne to judge people,
8 Und er wird den Erdkreis richten mit Gerechtigkeit und den Völkern das Urteil sprechen, wie es billig ist.
and he will judge [all the people in] [SYN] the world justly; he will judge the people [of all nations] fairly [DOU].
9 Und der HERR wird eine Zuflucht sein dem Unterdrückten, eine Zuflucht jederzeit in der Not.
Yahweh will be a refuge for those who are oppressed; [yes, he will be like] a shelter for them when they have trouble.
10 Darum vertrauen auf dich, die deinen Namen kennen; denn du hast nicht verlassen, die dich, HERR, suchten!
Those who know Yahweh [MTY] trust in him; he never abandons those who come to him ([for help/to worship him]).
11 Singet dem HERRN, der zu Zion wohnt, verkündiget unter den Völkern seine Taten!
Yahweh rules from Zion [Hill]; praise him while you sing to him. Tell [the people of all] the nations the [marvelous] things that he has done.
12 Denn er forscht nach den Blutschulden und denkt daran; er vergißt des Schreiens der Elenden nicht.
He does not forget [to punish] those who have murdered others; and he will not ignore people who are crying because they are suffering.
13 HERR, sei mir gnädig, siehe, wie ich unterdrückt werde von denen, die mich hassen; erhebe du mich aus den Pforten des Todes,
Yahweh, be merciful to me! Look at the ways that my enemies have injured me. Do not allow me to die [because of these injuries].
14 auf daß ich all deinen Ruhm erzähle in den Toren der Tochter Zion, daß ich jauchze ob deinem Heil!
I want to live in order that I can praise you at the gates of Jerusalem [MTY] and to rejoice because you rescued me.
15 Die Heiden sind versunken in der Grube, die sie gemacht; ihr Fuß hat sich gefangen in dem Netz, das sie heimlich gestellt.
[It is as though] the [wicked people of many] nations have dug a pit for me to fall into [MET], but they have fallen into that same pit. [It is as if] they spread out a net to catch me [MET], but their feet have been caught in that same net.
16 Der HERR hat sich kundgegeben, hat Gericht gehalten; der Gottlose ist in dem Werk seiner Hände verstrickt! (Harfenspiel (Pause)
Because of what you have done, people know that you decide matters [fairly/justly], but [you allow] wicked people to be trapped by the same evil things that they themselves do.
Wicked people will all [die and] be buried in their graves, and [their spirits] will go to be with all those who have (forgotten about/rejected) you. (Sheol h7585)
18 Denn des Armen wird nicht für immer vergessen, die Hoffnung der Unterdrückten wird nicht stets vergeblich sein.
But you will not forget those who are needy/poor; what they confidently expect will certainly happen.
19 Stehe auf, o HERR, daß der Sterbliche nicht zu mächtig wird, daß die Heiden gerichtet werden vor deinem Angesicht!
Yahweh, arise and judge the [wicked] people of the nations; do not allow them to think that [because they are strong] they will never be punished.
20 O HERR, jage ihnen Schrecken ein, daß die Heiden erkennen, daß sie sterblich sind! (Pause)
Yahweh, teach them to be terrified about you. Cause them to know that they are merely human beings.
