Psalm 89
1 Eine Unterweisung. Von Etan, dem Esrachiten: Die Gnadenerweisungen des HERRN will ich ewiglich besingen und seine Wahrheit mit meinem Munde verkündigen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.
I will sing of the loving kindness of Jehovah forever. With my mouth I will make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
2 Und zwar sage ich: Auf ewig wird die Gnade gebaut, in den Himmeln bestätigst du deine Treue:
For I have said, Mercy shall be built up forever. Thy faithfulness thou will establish in the very heavens.
3 «Ich habe mit meinem Auserwählten einen Bund geschlossen, habe meinem Knecht David geschworen:
I have made a covenant with my chosen. I have sworn to David my servant:
4 Auf ewig will ich deinen Samen bestätigen und für alle Geschlechter bauen deinen Thron!» (Pause)
Thy seed I will establish forever, and build up thy throne to all generations. (Selah)
5 Und die Himmel werden deine Wundertat preisen, o HERR, ja, deine Treue in der Gemeinde der Heiligen!
And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Jehovah, thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the sanctified.
6 Denn wer in den Wolken ist dem HERRN zu vergleichen, wer ist dem HERRN ähnlich unter den Göttersöhnen?
For who in the clouds can be compared to Jehovah? Who among the sons of the mighty is like Jehovah,
7 Gott ist sehr schrecklich im Kreise der Heiligen und furchtbar über alle um ihn her.
a God very awesome in the council of the holy ones, and to be feared above all those who are round about him?
8 HERR, Gott der Heerscharen, wer ist mächtig wie du? Und deine Treue ist um dich her!
O Jehovah God of hosts, who is a mighty one like thee, O Jehovah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee.
9 Du herrschest über das stolze Meer; wenn sich seine Wellen erheben, so glättest du sie.
Thou rule the pride of the sea. When the waves of it arise, thou still them.
10 Du hast Rahab wie einen Erschlagenen zermalmt, mit deinem starken Arm zerstreutest du deine Feinde.
Thou have broken Rahab in pieces, as a wounded man. Thou have scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength.
11 Dein ist der Himmel, dir gehört auch die Erde, der Weltkreis und was ihn erfüllt; du hast es alles gegründet.
The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine, the world and the fullness of it; thou have founded them.
12 Norden und Süden hast du erschaffen, Tabor und Hermon jauchzen ob deines Namens.
The north and the south, thou have created them. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in thy name.
13 Du hast einen Arm voll Kraft, stark ist deine Hand, hoch erhoben deine Rechte.
Thou have a mighty arm. Strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
14 Recht und Gerechtigkeit sind deines Thrones Feste, Gnade und Treue gehen vor deinem Angesicht her.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of thy throne. Loving kindness and truth go before thy face.
15 Wohl dem Volk, das den Jubelschall kennt! O HERR, im Lichte deines Angesichts werden sie wandeln.
Blessed is the people who know the joyful sound. They walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance.
16 Ob deines Namens frohlocken sie allezeit und sind erhoben durch deine Gerechtigkeit;
In thy name do they rejoice all the day, and in thy righteousness are they exalted.
17 denn du bist ihr mächtiger Ruhm und durch deine Huld wird unser Horn erhöht.
For thou are the glory of their strength, and in thy favor our horn shall be exalted.
18 Denn vom HERRN kommt unser Schild und vom Heiligen Israels unser König.
For our shield belongs to Jehovah, and our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 Damals redetest du durch ein Gesicht mit deinen Frommen und sprachst: «Ich habe die Hilfe einem Helden übertragen, einen Auserwählten aus dem Volk erhöht;
Then thou spoke in a vision to thy sanctified, and said, I have laid help upon a mighty man. I have exalted a chosen man out of the people.
20 ich habe meinen Knecht David gefunden und ihn mit meinem heiligen Öl gesalbt;
I have found David my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him,
21 meine Hand soll beständig mit ihm sein, und mein Arm soll ihn stärken.
with whom my hand shall be established. My arm also shall strengthen him.
22 Kein Feind soll ihn überlisten und kein Ruchloser ihn unterdrücken;
The enemy shall not exact from him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 sondern ich will seine Widersacher vor ihm zermalmen und seine Hasser schlagen;
And I will beat down his adversaries before him, and smite those who hate him,
24 aber meine Treue und Gnade sollen mit ihm sein, und in meinem Namen soll sein Horn sich erheben.
but my faithfulness and my loving kindness shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 Und ich will seine Hand ins Meer tauchen und seine Rechte in die Ströme.
I will also set his hand on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.
26 Er wird zu mir rufen: Du bist mein Vater, mein Gott und der Fels meines Heils.
He shall cry to me, Thou are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
27 Und ich will ihn zum Erstgeborenen machen, zum Höchsten der Könige auf Erden.
I also will make him firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 Auf ewig bewahre ich ihm meine Gnade, und mein Bund soll ihm festbleiben.
I will keep my loving kindness for him for evermore. And my covenant shall stand fast with him.
29 Und ich setze seinen Samen auf ewig ein und mache seinen Thron wie die Tage des Himmels.
I will also make his seed to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 Wenn seine Söhne mein Gesetz verlassen und nicht in meinen Verordnungen wandeln,
If his sons forsake my law, and walk not in my ordinances,
31 wenn sie meine Satzungen entheiligen und meine Gebote nicht beachten,
if they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments,
32 so will ich ihre Sünden mit der Rute heimsuchen und ihre Missetat mit Schlägen;
then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes,
33 aber meine Gnade will ich ihm nicht entziehen und meine Treue nicht verleugnen;
but my loving kindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail.
34 meinen Bund will ich nicht ungültig machen und nicht ändern, was über meine Lippen gekommen ist.
I will not break my covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
35 Einmal habe ich bei meiner Heiligkeit geschworen; sollte ich David belügen?
I have sworn once by my holiness; I will not lie to David.
36 Sein Same soll ewig bleiben und sein Thron wie die Sonne vor mir;
His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me.
37 wie der Mond soll er ewig bestehen und wie der Zeuge in den Wolken zuverlässig sein!» (Pause)
It shall be established forever as the moon, and as the faithful witness in the sky. (Selah)
38 Und doch hast du verstoßen und verworfen und bist zornig geworden über deinen Gesalbten!
But thou have cast off and rejected. Thou have been angry with thine anointed.
39 Du verachtest den Bund deines Knechtes und trittst seine Krone zu Boden;
Thou have abhorred the covenant of thy servant. Thou have profaned his crown to the ground.
40 du hast alle seine Mauern zerrissen und seine Festungen in Trümmer gelegt;
Thou have broken down all his hedges. Thou have brought his strongholds to ruin.
41 es berauben ihn alle, die vorüberziehen, er ist seinen Nachbarn zum Gespött;
All who pass by the way rob him. He has become a reproach to his neighbors.
42 du hast die rechte Hand seiner Widersacher erhöht, hast allen seinen Feinden Freude gemacht;
Thou have exalted the right hand of his adversaries. Thou have made all his enemies to rejoice.
43 du ließest zurückweichen sein scharfes Schwert und schenktest ihm keinen Sieg im Krieg;
Yea, thou turn back the edge of his sword, and have not made him to stand in the battle.
44 du hast seinem Glanz ein Ende gemacht und seinen Thron zu Boden gestürzt;
Thou have made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
45 du hast die Tage seiner Jugend verkürzt und ihn mit Schande bedeckt. (Pause)
The days of his youth thou have shortened. Thou have covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Wie lange, o HERR, willst du dich so verbergen? Soll dein Zorn stets wie Feuer brennen?
How long, O Jehovah? Will thou hide thyself forever? Shall thy wrath burn like fire?
47 Gedenke mein! Was ist das Leben? Warum willst du alle Menschenkinder vergeblich erschaffen haben?
O remember how short my time is, for what vanity thou have created all the sons of men!
48 Wo ist einer, der den Tod nicht sähe und seine Seele erretten könnte von des Totenreichs Gewalt? (Pause) (Sheol h7585)
What man is he who shall live and not see death, who shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Wo sind, o Herr, deine frühern Gnadenerweise, die du dem David in deiner Treue zugeschworen hast?
Lord, where are thy former loving kindnesses, which thou swore to David in thy faithfulness?
50 Gedenke, o Herr, der Schmach, die deinen Knechten angetan wird, daß ich in meinem Busen den Hohn der vielen Völker trage,
Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants, how I bear in my bosom all the mighty peoples,
51 womit deine Feinde dich, HERR, schmähen, womit sie schmähen die Fußstapfen deines Gesalbten!
with which thine enemies have reproached, O Jehovah, with which they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed.
52 Gepriesen sei der HERR ewiglich! Amen, Amen!
