Psalm 77

1 Dem Vorsänger. Nach Jedutun. Ein Psalm Asaphs. Ich rufe zu Gott und will schreien, zu Gott rufe ich, und er wolle auf mich hören!

To the Chief Musician. On "Jeduthun." Asaph’s, a Melody. With my voice—unto God, will I make outcry, With my voice unto God, and he will give ear unto me;

2 Zur Zeit meiner Not suchte ich den Herrn; meine Hand war des Nachts unablässig ausgestreckt, meine Seele wollte sich nicht trösten lassen.

In the day of my distress—unto My Lord, will I seek, My hand, by night, hath been outstretched and never once became slack, My soul, hath refused to be consoled;

3 Dachte ich an Gott, so mußte ich seufzen, sann ich nach, so ward mein Geist bekümmert. (Pause)

I remember God and I murmur, I muse, and my spirit swooneth. (Selah)

4 Du hieltest meine Augenlider offen; ich warf mich hin und her und konnte nicht reden.

Thou hast held, watching, mine eyes, I was driven to and fro, and could not speak;

5 Da gedachte ich der alten Zeit, der vorigen Jahre;

I reasoned, Of the days of aforetime, Of the years of by-gone ages;

6 ich erinnerte mich wieder an mein Saitenspiel, betete in meinem Herzen, und mein Geist fing an zu forschen:

I remember my song in the night, —With my own heart, I commune, And my spirit, maketh search: —

7 Wird denn der Herr auf ewig verstoßen und fortan nicht mehr gnädig sein?

For ages, will My Lord reject? And, not again, grant acceptance any more?

8 Ist's denn ganz und gar aus mit seiner Gnade, und hat sein Reden für immer aufgehört?

Hath his lovingkindness, come to a perpetual end? Hath his word failed to generation after generation?

9 Hat denn Gott vergessen, gnädig zu sein, und im Zorn seine Barmherzigkeit verschlossen? (Pause)

Hath GOD, forgotten to show favour? Or hath he shut up, in anger, his compassions? (Selah)

10 Und ich sprach: Ich will das leiden, die Änderungen, welche die rechte Hand des Höchsten getroffen hat.

Then said I—An affliction to me, it is, The changing of the right hand of the Most High.

11 Ich will rühmen die Taten des HERRN; denn ich gedenke deiner vorigen Wunder

I will remember the doings of Yah, Surely I will remember, out of aforetime, thy wonderful way;

12 und besinne mich aller deiner Werke und ziehe deine großen Taten in Betracht:

And will talk to myself of all thy work, And, of thy doings, will I muse: —

13 O Gott, dein Weg ist heilig! Wer ist ein so großer Gott wie du?

O God, in the sanctuary, is thy way, —Who is a great GOD like Elohim?

14 Du bist der Gott, der Wunder tut; du hast deine Macht bewiesen an den Völkern!

Thou, art GOD, doing wonderfully, —Thou hast made known, among the peoples, thy might;

15 Du hast dein Volk erlöst mit deinem Arm, die Kinder Jakobs und Josephs. (Pause)

Thou didst redeem, with thine arm—Thy people, Thy sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah)

16 Als dich, o Gott, die Wasser sahen, als dich die Wasser sahen, da brausten sie und das Meer ward aufgeregt;

The waters saw thee, O God, The waters saw thee, They were in birth-throes, Yea the resounding deeps were stirred;

17 die Wolken gossen Wasser, es donnerte in den Lüften, und deine Pfeile fuhren daher;

The clouds, poured down waters, The skies uttered, a voice, Yea, thine arrows, flew hither and thither;

18 deine Donnerstimme erschallte im Wirbelwind, die Blitze beleuchteten den Erdkreis, daß die Erde in Zittern und Beben geriet;

The, voice of thy thunder, was in the whirlwind, Thy lightnings illumined the world, The earth, trembled and quaked;

19 dein Weg war im Meer und deine Bahn in großen Wassern, und deine Fußstapfen waren nicht zu erkennen;

In the sea, was thy way, And, thy path, in the mighty waters, And, thy footprints, could not be known:

20 du führtest dein Volk wie eine Herde durch Mose und Aaron.

Thou didst lead, like a flock, thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
