Psalm 73
1 Ein Psalm Asaphs. Nur gut ist Gott gegen Israel, gegen die, welche reinen Herzens sind.
A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are of a pure heart.
2 Ich aber hätte schier gestrauchelt mit meinen Füßen, wie leicht hätte ich einen Mißtritt getan!
But as for me, my feet were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped;
3 Denn ich beneidete die Übermütigen, als ich den Frieden der Gottlosen sah.
For I was envious at the arrogant, seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Denn sie leiden keine Qual bis zu ihrem Tod, und ihr Leib ist wohlgenährt.
For they have no pangs in their death, and their body is well nourished;
5 Sie werden nicht bemüht wie andere Leute und nicht geschlagen wie andere Menschen.
They have not the hardships of mankind, neither are they plagued like [other] men:
6 Darum schmücken sie sich stolz und kleiden sich frech.
Therefore pride encompasseth them as a neck-chain, violence covereth them [as] a garment;
7 Ihr Gesicht strotzt von Fett, sie bilden sich sehr viel ein.
Their eyes stand out from fatness, they exceed the imaginations of their heart:
8 Sie reden höhnisch und boshaft, drohen mit höherer Gewalt.
They mock and speak wickedly of oppression, they speak loftily:
9 Sie reden, als käme es vom Himmel; ihre Worte haben Geltung auf Erden.
They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Darum wendet sich auch das Volk ihnen zu, und es wird von ihnen viel Wasser aufgesogen.
Therefore his people turn hither, and waters in fulness are wrung out to them.
11 Und sie sagen: «Was merkt Gott? Weiß der Höchste überhaupt etwas?»
And they say, How can God know, and is there knowledge in the Most High?
12 Siehe, das sind die Gottlosen; denen geht es immer gut, und sie werden reich!
Behold, these are the wicked, and they prosper in the world: they heap up riches.
13 Ganz umsonst habe ich mein Herz rein erhalten und meine Hände in Unschuld gewaschen;
Truly have I purified my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency:
14 denn ich bin doch täglich geschlagen worden, und meine Strafe ist alle Morgen da!
For all the day have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 Wollte ich auch so rechnen, siehe, so würde ich das Geschlecht deiner Kinder verraten.
If I said, I will speak thus, behold, I should be faithless to the generation of thy children.
16 So sann ich denn nach, um dies zu verstehen; aber es schien mir vergebliche Mühe zu sein,
When I thought to be able to know this, it was a grievous task in mine eyes;
17 bis ich in das Heiligtum Gottes ging und auf ihr Ende merkte.
Until I went into the sanctuaries of God; [then] understood I their end.
18 Nur auf schlüpfrigen Boden setzest du sie; du lässest sie fallen, daß sie in Trümmer sinken.
Truly thou settest them in slippery places, thou castest them down in ruins.
19 Wie geschah das so plötzlich und entsetzlich! Sie gingen unter und nahmen ein Ende mit Schrecken.
How are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrors.
20 Wie einen Traum nach dem Erwachen, so wirst du, o Herr, wenn du dich aufmachst, ihr Bild verächtlich machen.
As a dream, when one awaketh, wilt thou, Lord, on arising despise their image.
21 Als mein Herz verbittert war und es mir in den Nieren wehe tat,
When my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins,
22 da war ich dumm und verstand nichts; ich benahm mich wie ein Vieh gegen dich.
Then I was brutish and knew nothing; I was [as] a beast with thee.
23 Und doch bleibe ich stets bei dir; du hältst mich bei meiner rechten Hand.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden my right hand;
24 Leite mich auch ferner nach deinem Rat und nimm mich hernach mit Ehren auf!
Thou wilt guide me by thy counsel, and after the glory, thou wilt receive me.
25 Wen habe ich im Himmel? Und dir ziehe ich gar nichts auf Erden vor!
Whom have I in the heavens? and there is none upon earth I desire beside thee.
26 Schwinden auch mein Fleisch und mein Herz dahin, so bleibt doch Gott ewiglich meines Herzens Fels und mein Teil.
My flesh and my heart faileth: God is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever.
27 Denn siehe, die fern von dir sind, kommen um; du vertilgst alle, die dir untreu werden.
For behold, they that are far from thee shall perish; thou destroyest every one that goeth a whoring from thee.
28 Mir aber ist die Nähe Gottes köstlich; ich habe Gott, den HERRN, zu meiner Zuflucht gemacht, um zu erzählen alle deine Werke.
But as for me, it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord Jehovah, that I may declare all thy works.
