Psalm 68
1 Dem Vorsänger. Von David. Ein Psalmlied. Es stehe Gott auf, daß seine Feinde zerstreut werden, und die ihn hassen, vor ihm fliehen!
To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm: a Song. Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered, and let them that hate him flee before him.
2 Wie Rauch vertrieben wird, möge er sie vertreiben; wie Wachs vor dem Feuer zerschmilzt, so müssen die Gottlosen vergehen vor Gottes Angesicht!
As smoke is driven, thou wilt drive them away; as wax melteth before the fire, the wicked shall perish at the presence of God.
3 Die Gerechten aber sollen sich freuen und fröhlich sein vor Gottes Angesicht und mit Freuden frohlocken!
But the righteous shall rejoice: they shall exult before God and be glad with joy.
4 Singet Gott, lobsinget seinem Namen! Machet Bahn dem, der durch die Steppen fährt! HERR ist sein Name: frohlockt vor ihm!
Sing unto God, sing forth his name; cast up a way for him that rideth in the deserts: his name is Jah; and rejoice before him.
5 Er ist ein Vater der Waisen, ein Anwalt der Witwen, Gott, der in seinem Heiligtum wohnt;
A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
6 ein Gott, der Vereinsamten ein Heim gibt, Gefangene in Sicherheit bringt; nur Widerspenstige bewohnen dürres Land.
God maketh the solitary into families; those that were bound he bringeth out into prosperity: but the rebellious dwell in a parched [land].
7 O Gott, da du auszogst vor deinem Volke her, als du durch die Wüste schrittest, (Pause)
O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness (Selah)
8 da erbebte die Erde, auch die Himmel troffen vor Gottes Angesicht, jener Sinai vor Gott, dem Gott Israels.
The earth trembled, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God, yon Sinai, at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 Du schüttetest, o Gott, einen reichlichen Regen herab; dein Erbe, welches matt geworden, erquicktest du,
Thou, O God, didst pour a plentiful rain upon thine inheritance, and when it was weary thou strengthenedst it.
10 daß die, welche du am Leben erhalten, darin wohnen konnten; durch deine Güte, o Gott, bereitetest du es für die Elenden zu!
Thy flock hath dwelt therein: thou hast prepared in thy goodness, for the afflicted, O God!
11 Der Herr lasse Siegesgesang erschallen! Der Siegesbotinnen ist ein großes Heer!
The Lord gives the word: great the host of the publishers.
12 Die Könige der Heerscharen müssen fliehen, fliehen müssen sie; und die im Hause wohnt, teilt Beute aus!
Kings of armies flee; they flee, and she that tarrieth at home divideth the spoil.
13 Wollt ihr zwischen den Hürden liegen? Die Flügel der Taube sind mit Silber überzogen und ihr Gefieder mit schimmerndem Gold!
Though ye have lain among the sheepfolds, [ye shall be as] wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with green gold.
14 Als der Allmächtige die Könige daselbst zerstreute, da schneite es auf dem Zalmon.
When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it became snow-white as Zalmon.
15 Das Gebirge Basan ist ein Gottesberg, das Gebirge Basan ist ein gipfelreicher Berg.
[As] mount Bashan is the mount of God, a many-peaked mountain, [as] mount Bashan.
16 Warum beneidet ihr gipfelreichen Berge den Berg, welchen Gott zu seiner Wohnung begehrt hat, welchen der HERR auch ewiglich bewohnen wird?
Why do ye look with envy, ye many-peaked mountains, upon the mount that God hath desired for his abode? yea, Jehovah will dwell [there] for ever.
17 Der Wagen Gottes sind tausendmaltausend und abertausend; der Herr kam vom Sinai ins Heiligtum.
The chariots of God are twenty thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them: it is a Sinai in holiness.
18 Du bist zur Höhe emporgestiegen, hast Gefangene mitgeführt; du hast Gaben empfangen unter den Menschen, auch den Widerspenstigen, auf daß der HERR Gott bleiben soll.
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts in Man, and even [for] the rebellious, for the dwelling [there] of Jah Elohim.
19 Gepriesen sei der Herr! Tag für Tag trägt er unsere Last, der Gott unsres Heils! (Pause)
Blessed be the Lord: day by day doth he load us [with good], the God who is our salvation. (Selah)
20 Gott ist für uns ein Gott rettender Taten, und der HERR, unser Gott, hat Auswege aus dem Tod.
Our God is the God of salvation; and with Jehovah, the Lord, are the goings forth [even] from death.
21 Gewiß wird Gott das Haupt seiner Feinde zerschmettern, den Haarscheitel dessen, der in seinen Sünden einhergeht.
Verily God will smite the head of his enemies, the hairy scalp of him that goeth on still in his trespasses.
22 Der Herr hat gesagt: Ich will [sie] von Basan zurückbringen, ich will zurückbringen aus den Tiefen des Meeres,
The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring [them] again from the depth of the sea;
23 auf daß du deinen Fuß im Blute badest, daß die Zunge deiner Hunde von den Feinden ihr Teil bekomme!
That thou mayest dip thy foot in blood: the tongue of thy dogs has its portion from enemies.
24 Man sieht, o Gott, deinen Einzug, den Einzug meines Gottes, meines Königs, ins Heiligtum:
They have seen thy goings, O God, the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
25 Die Sänger gehen voran, darnach die Saitenspieler, inmitten der Jungfrauen, welche die Handpauken schlagen.
The singers went before, the players on stringed instruments after, in the midst of maidens playing on tabrets.
26 In den Versammlungen preiset Gott, den Herrn, ihr aus Israels Quell!
In the congregations bless ye God, the Lord, — [ye] from the fountain of Israel.
27 Da ist Benjamin, der kleine, der sie beherrscht, die Fürsten von Juda [und] ihr Haufe, die Fürsten von Sebulon, die Fürsten von Naphtali!
There is little Benjamin, their ruler; the princes of Judah, their company; the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.
28 Dein Gott hat geboten, daß du stark seiest; stärke, o Gott, was du uns erwirkt hast!
Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.
29 Für deinen Tempel zu Jerusalem werden dir Könige Gaben bringen.
Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.
30 Schilt das Tier im Schilf, die Rotte der starken Ochsen unter den Kälbern von Völkern, die sich um Silberstücke streiten! Zerstreue die Völker, welche gerne kriegen!
Rebuke the beast of the reeds, the assembly of the strong, with the calves of the peoples: [every one] submitteth himself with pieces of silver. Scatter the peoples that delight in war.
31 Vornehme aus Ägypten werden kommen, Mohrenland wird eilends seine Hände nach Gott ausstrecken.
Great ones shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall quickly stretch out her hands unto God.
32 Ihr Königreiche der Erde, singet, lobsinget dem Herrn, (Pause)
Ye kingdoms of the earth, sing unto God; sing psalms of the Lord, (Selah)
33 dem, der einherfährt am Himmel, am uralten Himmel! Siehe, er läßt seine Stimme erschallen, seine gewaltige Stimme!
Of him that rideth upon the heavens, the heavens which are of old: lo, he uttereth his voice, a mighty voice.
34 Gebt Gott die Macht! Über Israel ist er hoch erhaben und mächtig in den Wolken.
Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
35 Verehrungswürdig bist du, o Gott, in deinem Heiligtum! Der Gott Israels verleiht seinem Volk Macht und Stärke. Gepriesen sei Gott!
Terrible art thou, O God, out of thy sanctuaries, — the God of Israel! He it is that giveth strength and might unto the people. Blessed be God!
