Psalm 57
1 Dem Vorsänger. «Verdirb nicht.» Eine Denkschrift Davids; als er vor Saul in die Höhle floh. Sei mir gnädig, o Gott, sei mir gnädig; denn bei dir birgt sich meine Seele, und unter dem Schatten deiner Flügel nehme ich Zuflucht, bis das Unglück vorüber ist.
For the leader. Al tashheth. A michtam of David, when he fled from Saul into a cave. Be gracious, O God, be gracious to me, for in you I take shelter. In your sheltering wings I take refuge, till ruin be over past.
2 Ich rufe zu Gott, dem Allerhöchsten, zu Gott, der wohltut an mir.
I cry to the Most High God, to the God who accomplishes for me.
3 Er wird mir vom Himmel Rettung senden, zum Hohn machen den, der wider mich schnaubt. (Pause) Gott wird seine Gnade und Wahrheit senden.
He will send me his succour from heaven, he will thrust away those who would trample me. (Selah)
4 Meine Seele ist mitten unter Löwen, ich liege zwischen Feuerbränden, wohne unter Menschenkindern, deren Zähne Speere und Pfeile und deren Zungen scharfe Schwerter sind.
In the midst of lions I lie, who devour human prey. Their teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue is a sharpened sword.
5 Erhebe dich, o Gott, über den Himmel, über die ganze Erde deine Herrlichkeit!
Be exalted, God, o’er the heavens, and your glory o’er all the earth.
6 Sie haben meinen Füßen ein Netz gestellt, meine Seele niedergebeugt; sie höhlten eine Grube aus, fielen aber selbst hinein! (Pause)
They set a net for my feet, but in it was their own foot caught. Before me they dug a pit, but they fell into it themselves. (Selah)
7 Mein Herz ist bereit, o Gott, mein Herz ist bereit, ich will singen und spielen.
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast. I would sing, I would make music;
8 Wache auf, meine Ehre, Psalter und Harfe, wacht auf! Ich will mit dem Morgenrot erwachen.
awake, my soul. Awake, harp and lyre; I would wake the dawn.
9 Herr, ich will dich preisen unter den Völkern, ich will dir lobsingen unter den Leuten;
I would praise you among the peoples, O Lord, and make music among the nations to you;
10 denn deine Gnade ist groß; sie reicht bis zum Himmel, und deine Wahrheit bis zu den Wolken!
for great to heaven is your love, and your faithfulness to the clouds.
11 Erhebe dich, o Gott, über den Himmel, über die ganze Erde deine Herrlichkeit!
Be exalted, God, o’er the heavens, and your glory o’er all the earth.
