Psalm 37

1 Von David. Erzürne dich nicht über die Bösen, und sei nicht neidisch auf die Übeltäter!

A Psalme of David. Fret not thy selfe because of the wicked men, neither be enuious for the euill doers.

2 Denn sie werden schnell verdorren wie das Gras und verwelken wie das grüne Kraut.

For they shall soone bee cut downe like grasse, and shall wither as the greene herbe.

3 Vertraue auf den HERRN und tue Gutes, wohne im Lande und übe Treue;

Trust thou in the Lord and do good: dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed assuredly.

4 und habe deine Lust an dem HERRN, so wird er dir geben, was dein Herz begehrt!

And delite thy selfe in the Lord, and hee shall giue thee thine hearts desire.

5 Befiehl dem HERRN deinen Weg und vertraue auf ihn, so wird er handeln

Commit thy way vnto the Lord, and trust in him, and he shall bring it to passe.

6 und wird deine Gerechtigkeit an den Tag bringen wie das Licht und dein Recht wie den Mittag.

And he shall bring foorth thy righteousnes as the light, and thy iudgement as the noone day.

7 Halte still dem HERRN und warte auf ihn; erzürne dich nicht über den, welchem sein Weg gelingt, über den Mann, der Ränke übt!

Waite patiently vpon the Lord and hope in him: fret not thy selfe for him which prospereth in his way: nor for the man that bringeth his enterprises to passe.

8 Stehe ab vom Zorn und laß den Grimm; erzürne dich nicht! Es entsteht nur Böses daraus.

Cease from anger, and leaue off wrath: fret not thy selfe also to doe euill.

9 Denn die Übeltäter werden ausgerottet; die aber auf den HERRN warten, werden das Land ererben.

For euill doers shalbe cut off, and they that wait vpon the Lord, they shall inherite the land.

10 Nur noch ein Weilchen, so wird der Gottlose nicht mehr sein, und wenn du dich nach seiner Wohnung erkundigst, so ist er nicht mehr da!

Therefore yet a litle while, and the wicked shall not appeare, and thou shalt looke after his place, and he shall not be found.

11 Aber die Sanftmütigen werden das Land ererben und sich großen Friedens erfreuen.

But meeke men shall possesse the earth, and shall haue their delite in the multitude of peace.

12 Der Gottlose macht Anschläge wider den Gerechten und knirscht mit den Zähnen über ihn;

The wicked practiseth against the iust, and gnasheth his teeth against him.

13 aber mein Herr lacht seiner; denn er hat dafür gesorgt, daß sein Tag kommt!

But the Lord shall laugh him to scorne: for he seeth, that his day is comming.

14 Die Gottlosen haben das Schwert gezückt und ihren Bogen gespannt, um den Elenden und Armen zu fällen und die umzubringen, deren Weg richtig ist.

The wicked haue drawen their sworde, and haue bent their bowe, to cast downe the poore and needie, and to slay such as be of vpright conuersation.

15 Ihr Schwert wird in ihr eigenes Herz dringen, und ihr Bogen wird zerbrochen werden!

But their sword shall enter into their owne heart, and their bowes shalbe broken.

16 Das Wenige, das ein Gerechter hat, ist besser als der Überfluß vieler Gottlosen.

A small thing vnto the iust man is better, then great riches to the wicked and mightie.

17 Denn die Arme der Gottlosen werden zerbrochen; aber die Gerechten unterstützt der HERR.

For the armes of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord vpholdeth the iust men.

18 Der HERR kennt die Tage der Frommen, und ihr Erbe wird ewiglich bestehen.

The Lord knoweth the dayes of vpright men, and their inheritance shall bee perpetuall.

19 Sie sollen nicht zuschanden werden zur bösen Zeit, sondern genug haben auch in den Tagen der Hungersnot;

They shall not be confounded in the perilous time, and in the daies of famine they shall haue ynough.

20 aber die Gottlosen werden umkommen und die Feinde des HERRN dahinschwinden wie die Pracht der Auen; wie Rauch verschwinden sie.

But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be consumed as the fatte of lambes: euen with the smoke shall they consume away.

21 Der Gottlose borgt und zahlt nicht zurück; der Gerechte aber ist barmherzig und gibt.

The wicked boroweth and payeth not againe. but the righteous is mercifull, and giueth.

22 Denn die [vom HERRN] Gesegneten werden das Land ererben, aber seine Verfluchten sollen ausgerottet werden.

For such as be blessed of God, shall inherite the lande, and they that be cursed of him, shalbe cut off.

23 Vom HERRN werden die Schritte des Mannes bestätigt, wenn ihm sein Weg gefällt.

The pathes of man are directed by the Lord: for he loueth his way.

24 Fällt er, so wird er nicht weggeworfen; denn der HERR stützt seine Hand.

Though he fall, hee shall not be cast off: for the Lord putteth vnder his hand.

25 Ich bin jung gewesen und alt geworden und habe nie den Gerechten verlassen gesehen, oder seinen Samen um Brot betteln.

I haue beene yong, and am olde: yet I sawe neuer the righteous forsaken, nor his seede begging bread.

26 Er ist allezeit barmherzig und leiht gern, und sein Same wird zum Segen.

But hee is euer mercifull and lendeth, and his seede enioyeth the blessing.

27 Weiche vom Bösen und tue Gutes, so wirst du ewiglich bleiben!

Flee from euill and doe good, and dwell for euer.

28 Denn der HERR hat das Recht lieb und verläßt seine Frommen nicht; sie werden ewiglich bewahrt, aber der Same der Gottlosen wird ausgerottet.

For the Lord loueth iudgement, and forsaketh not his Saintes: they shall be preserued for euermore: but the seede of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 Die Gerechten werden das Land ererben und für immer darin wohnen.

The righteous men shall inherit the lande, and dwell therein for euer.

30 Des Gerechten Mund tut Weisheit kund, und seine Zunge redet recht.

The mouth of the righteous will speake of wisedome, and his tongue will talke of iudgement.

31 Das Gesetz seines Gottes ist in seinem Herzen, und seine Schritte wanken nicht.

For the Lawe of his God is in his heart, and his steppes shall not slide.

32 Der Gottlose lauert auf den Gerechten und sucht ihn zu töten.

The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33 Aber der HERR wird ihn nicht seiner Hand überlassen und läßt ihn nicht verdammen, wenn er gerichtet wird.

But the Lord wil not leaue him in his hand, nor condemne him, when he is iudged.

34 Harre des HERRN und bewahre seinen Weg, so wird er dich erhöhen, daß du das Land ererbest und die Ausrottung der Gottlosen sehest!

Waite thou on the Lord, and keepe his way, and he shall exalt thee, that thou shalt inherite the lande: when the wicked men shall perish, thou shalt see.

35 Ich sah einen Gottlosen, der war trotzig und breitete sich aus wie ein grünender, wilder Baum.

I haue seene the wicked strong, and spreading himselfe like a greene bay tree.

36 Aber als man wieder vorbeiging, da war er nicht mehr; ich suchte ihn, aber man fand ihn nicht.

Yet he passed away, and loe, he was gone, and I sought him, but he could not be founde.

37 Achte auf den Unschuldigen und siehe auf den Redlichen; dem Mann des Friedens wird eine Zukunft zuteil!

Marke the vpright man, and beholde the iust: for the end of that man is peace.

38 Aber die Übertreter werden allesamt vertilgt, und der Nachwuchs der Gottlosen wird ausgerottet.

But the transgressours shall be destroyed together, and the ende of the wicked shall bee cut off.

39 Aber das Heil der Gerechten kommt vom HERRN; er ist ihre Zuflucht zur Zeit der Not.

But the saluation of the righteous men shalbe of the Lord: he shalbe their strength in the time of trouble.

40 Der HERR wird ihnen beistehen und sie erretten, er wird sie erretten von den Gottlosen und ihnen Heil verschaffen; denn sie bergen sich bei ihm.

For the Lord shall helpe them, and deliuer them: he shall deliuer them from the wicked, and shall saue them, because they trust in him.
