Psalm 24

1 Ein Psalm Davids. Dem HERRN gehört die Erde und was sie erfüllt, der Erdboden und die darauf wohnen;

David’s. A Melody. To Yahweh, belongeth, The earth and the fulness thereof, The world, and they who dwell therein;

2 denn er hat ihn über Meeren gegründet und über Strömen befestigt.

For, he, upon the seas, hath founded it, and upon the currents, doth make it firm.

3 Wer wird auf den Berg des HERRN steigen? Und wer wird stehen an seiner heiligen Stätte?

Who shall ascend the mountain of Yahweh? And who shall stand in his holy place?

4 Wer unschuldige Hände hat und reines Herzens ist, wer seine Seele nicht auf Trug richtet und nicht falsch schwört.

The clean of hands, and pure of heart, —who hath not uplifted, to falsehood, his soul, nor sworn deceitfully,

5 Dem wird Segen zugesprochen von dem HERRN und Gerechtigkeit von dem Gott seines Heils.

Shall bear away a blessing from Yahweh, and righteousness, from his delivering God.

6 Dies ist das Geschlecht derer, die nach ihm fragen, die dein Angesicht suchen, du Gott Jakobs! (Pause)

This, is the generation of them who inquire of him, who seek thy face, O God of Jacob. (Selah)

7 Hebet eure Häupter empor, ihr Tore, und erweitert euch, ihr ewigen Pforten, daß der König der Ehren einziehe!

Lift up, O ye gates, your heads, and lift yourselves up, ye age-abiding doors, That the king of glory may come in.

8 Wer ist dieser König der Ehren? Es ist der HERR, der Starke und Mächtige, der HERR, der Held im Streit!

Who is the king of glory? Yahweh, strong and mighty, Yahweh, mighty in war.

9 Hebet eure Häupter empor, ihr Tore, ja, erhebet euch, ihr ewigen Pforten, daß der König der Ehren einziehe!

Lift up, O ye gates, your heads, yea lift [them] up, ye age-abiding doors, That the king of glory may come in.

10 Wer ist denn dieser König der Ehren? Es ist der HERR der Heerscharen; er ist der König der Ehren! (Pause)

Who then is the king of glory? Yahweh of hosts, He, is the king of glory. (Selah)
