Psalm 148
1 Hallelujah! Lobet den HERRN vom Himmel her, lobet ihn in der Höhe!
Praise Yahweh! Praise him, from up in heaven; praise him from way up in the sky!
2 Lobet ihn, alle seine Engel; lobet ihn, alle seine Heerscharen!
All you angels who belong to him, praise him! All you who are in the armies of heaven, praise him!
3 Lobet ihn, Sonne und Mond; lobet ihn, alle leuchtenden Sterne!
Sun and moon, [you also] praise him! You shining stars, you praise him!
4 Lobet ihn, ihr Himmelshöhen und ihr Wasser oben am Himmel!
You highest heavens, praise him! And you waters that are high above the sky, praise him!
5 Sie sollen loben den Namen des HERRN; denn sie entstanden auf sein Geheiß,
I want [all of] these to praise Yahweh [MTY] because by commanding [them to exist], he created them.
6 und er verlieh ihnen ewigen Bestand; er gab ein Gesetz, das nicht überschritten wird.
He determined the places where they should be [in the sky], and he commanded that they should be there forever. They cannot disobey that command!
7 Lobet den HERRN von der Erde her, ihr Walfische und alle Meeresfluten!
And everything on the earth, praise Yahweh! You [huge] sea monsters and [everything else that is] deep [in the ocean],
8 Feuer und Hagel, Schnee und Dunst, Sturmwind, der sein Wort ausführt;
and fire and hail, and snow and frost, and strong winds that obey what he commands, [I tell] all of you to praise Yahweh!
9 Berge und alle Hügel, Obstbäume und alle Zedern;
Hills and mountains, fruit trees and cedar [trees],
10 wilde Tiere und alles Vieh, alles, was kriecht und fliegt;
all the wild animals and all [you] cattle, and the (reptiles/creatures that scurry across the ground), and [all] the birds, [I tell all of them to praise Yahweh]!
11 die Könige der Erde und alle Nationen, die Fürsten und alle Richter auf Erden;
You kings on this earth and all the people [that you rule], you princes and all [other] rulers,
12 Jünglinge und auch Jungfrauen, Greise mitsamt den Knaben;
you young men and young women, you old people and children, [everyone, praise Yahweh!]
13 sie sollen loben den Namen des HERRN! Denn sein Name allein ist erhaben, sein Glanz überstrahlt Erde und Himmel.
I want them [all] to praise Yahweh [MTY] because he is greater than anyone else. His glory is greater than [anything on] the earth or [in] heaven.
14 Und er hat das Horn seines Volkes erhöht, allen seinen Frommen zum Ruhm, den Kindern Israel, dem Volk, das ihm nahe ist. Hallelujah!
He caused us, his people, to be strong in order that we, his people, we Israeli people (who are very precious to him/whom he loves very much), would praise him. So praise Yahweh!
