Psalm 146

1 Hallelujah! Lobe den HERRN, meine Seele!

Praise Yahweh! With my whole inner being I will praise Yahweh.

2 Ich will den HERRN loben, solange ich lebe, und meinen Gott besingen, weil ich noch bin!

I will praise Yahweh as long as I am alive; I will sing to praise my God for [the rest of] my life.

3 Verlasset euch nicht auf Fürsten, auf ein Menschenkind, bei dem keine Rettung ist!

[You people], do not trust in your leaders; do not trust humans because they cannot save/rescue you [from your difficulties/problems].

4 Sein Geist fährt aus, er wird wieder zu Erde; an dem Tage sind alle seine Vorhaben vernichtet!

And when they die, their corpses [decay and] become soil again. After they die, they can no longer do the things that they planned to do.

5 Wohl dem, des Hilfe der Gott Jakobs ist, des Hoffnung steht auf dem HERRN, seinem Gott!

But those whose helper is the God whom Jacob [worshiped] are happy. The one whom they confidently expect [to help them] is Yahweh, their God.

6 Dieser hat Himmel und Erde gemacht, das Meer und alles, was drinnen ist; er ist's auch, der ewiglich Treue bewahrt.

He is the one who created heaven and the earth and the oceans and all [the creatures] that are in them. He always does what he has promised to do.

7 Er schafft den Unterdrückten Recht und gibt den Hungrigen Brot; der HERR löst Gebundene.

He decides matters fairly for those who are (treated unfairly/oppressed), and he provides food for those who are hungry. He frees those who are in prison.

8 Der HERR macht Blinde sehend; der HERR richtet Gebeugte auf; der HERR liebt die Gerechten.

Yahweh enables those who are blind to see again. He lifts up those who have fallen down. He loves righteous [people].

9 Der HERR behütet den Fremdling; er erhält Waisen und Witwen; aber den Gottlosen läßt er verkehrte Wege wandeln.

Yahweh takes care of those from other countries who live in our land, and he helps widows and orphans. But he gets rid of wicked [people].

10 Der HERR wird ewiglich herrschen, dein Gott, o Zion, für und für! Hallelujah!

Yahweh will [continue to] be our king forever; you people of Israel, your God will rule forever! Praise Yahweh!
