Psalm 14

1 Dem Vorsänger. Von David. Der Tor spricht in seinem Herzen: «Es ist kein Gott!» Sie begehen verderbliche und greuliche Handlungen; keiner ist, der Gutes tut.

For the Leader. A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart: 'There is no God'; they have dealt corruptly, they have done abominably; there is none that doeth good.

2 Der HERR schaut vom Himmel auf die Menschenkinder, daß er sehe, ob jemand so verständig sei und nach Gott frage;

The LORD looked forth from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any man of understanding, that did seek after God.

3 aber sie sind alle abgewichen und allesamt verdorben; keiner ist, der Gutes tut, auch nicht einer!

They are all corrupt, they are together become impure; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

4 Werden nicht alle Übeltäter erfahren, die mein Volk fressen, als äßen sie Brot, aber den HERRN nicht anrufen;

'Shall not all the workers of iniquity know it, who eat up My people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD?'

5 werden sie es nicht dann mit Schrecken erfahren, daß Gott beim Geschlecht der Gerechten ist?

There are they in great fear; for God is with the righteous generation.

6 Wollt ihr den Rat des Elenden zuschanden machen, da doch der HERR seine Zuflucht ist?

Ye would put to shame the counsel of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.

7 Ach, daß das Heil Israels aus Zion käme! Wenn der HERR das Gefängnis seines Volkes wendet, so wird Jakob frohlocken und Israel sich freuen!

Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When the LORD turneth the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
