Psalm 139
1 Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm Davids. HERR, du hast mich erforscht und kennst mich!
To the Chief Musician, David’s. A Melody. O Yahweh! thou hast searched me, and observed:
2 Ich sitze oder stehe, so weißt du es; du merkst meine Gedanken von ferne.
Thou, hast observed my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou hast given heed to my desire, from afar:
3 Du beobachtest mich, ob ich gehe oder liege, und bist vertraut mit allen meinen Wegen;
My path and my couch, hast thou examined, and, all my ways, thou well knowest.
4 ja es ist kein Wort auf meiner Zunge, das du, HERR, nicht völlig wüßtest!
Surely there hath not been a word on my tongue, [but] behold! O Yahweh, thou hast observed it on every side.
5 Von hinten und von vorn hast du mich eingeschlossen und deine Hand auf mich gelegt.
Behind and before, hast thou shut me in, and hast laid upon me thy hand: —
6 Diese Erkenntnis ist mir zu wunderbar, zu hoch, als daß ich sie fassen könnte!
Knowledge, too wonderful, for me! high, I cannot attain to it!
7 Wo soll ich hingehen vor deinem Geist, wo soll ich hinfliehen vor deinem Angesicht?
Whither can I go from thy spirit? or whither, from thy face, can I flee?
8 Führe ich zum Himmel, so bist du da; bettete ich mir im Totenreich, siehe, so bist du auch da! (Sheol h7585)
If I ascend the heavens, there, thou art! If I spread out hades as my couch, behold thee! (Sheol h7585)
9 Nähme ich Flügel der Morgenröte und bliebe am äußersten Meer,
If I mount the wings of the dawn, settle down in the region beyond the sea,
10 so würde auch daselbst deine Hand mich führen und deine Rechte mich halten!
Even there, thy hand shall lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 Spräche ich: «Finsternis möge mich überfallen und das Licht zur Nacht werden um mich her!»,
If I say, Surely, darkness, shall cover me! then, night, is light about me.
12 so ist auch die Finsternis nicht finster für dich, und die Nacht leuchtet wie der Tag; Finsternis ist wie das Licht.
Even darkness, will not conceal from thee, —but, night, like day, will shine, So is the darkness, as the light!
13 Denn du hast meine Nieren geschaffen, du wobest mich in meiner Mutter Schoß.
For, thou, didst possess thyself of my reins, thou didst weave me together in the womb of my mother.
14 Ich danke dir, daß du mich wunderbar gemacht hast; wunderbar sind deine Werke, und meine Seele erkennt das wohl!
I thank thee, in that fearfully was my being distinguished, Wonderful are thy works, and, mine own soul, is observing [them] intently!
15 Mein Gebein war dir nicht verhohlen, da ich im Verborgenen gemacht ward, gewirkt tief unten auf Erden.
My substance was not hid from thee, —when I was made in secret, when I was skilfully figured in the lower parts of the earth.
16 Deine Augen sahen mich, als ich noch unentwickelt war, und es waren alle Tage in dein Buch geschrieben, die noch werden sollten, als derselben noch keiner war.
Mine unfinished substance, thine eyes beheld, and, in thy book, all the parts thereof were written, —the days they should be fashioned! while yet there was not one among them.
17 Und wie teuer sind mir, o Gott, deine Gedanken! Wie groß ist ihre Summe!
To me, then, how precious have thy desires become, O GOD! How numerous, the heads of them!
18 Wollte ich sie zählen, so würde ihrer mehr sein als der Sand. Wenn ich erwache, so bin ich noch bei dir!
I would recount them! Beyond the sands, they multiply, I rouse myself—and am still with thee.
19 Ach Gott, daß du den Gottlosen tötetest und die Blutgierigen von mir weichen müßten!
Wilt thou not, O GOD, slay the lawless one? Therefore, ye men of bloodshed, depart from me!
20 Denn sie empören sich arglistig wider dich; deine Feinde erheben [ihre Hand] zur Lüge.
For they speak of thee wickedly, Thy foes lift up [their hand] unto falsehood.
21 Sollte ich nicht hassen, die dich, HERR, hassen, und keinen Abscheu empfinden vor deinen Widersachern?
Do I not hate, them who hate thee, O Yahweh? And loathe, them who rise up against thee?
22 Ich hasse sie mit vollkommenem Haß, sie sind mir zu Feinden geworden.
With completeness of hatred, I hate them, As enemies, have they become to me.
23 Erforsche mich, o Gott, und erkenne mein Herz; prüfe mich und erkenne, wie ich es meine;
Search me, O GOD, and observe my heart, Try me, and observe my cares;
24 und siehe, ob ich auf bösem Wege bin, und leite mich auf ewigem Wege!
And see if there be any idol-way in me, and lead me in a way age-abiding.
