Psalm 125

1 Ein Wallfahrtslied. Die auf den HERRN vertrauen, sind wie der Berg Zion, der nicht wankt, sondern ewiglich bleibt.

Those/We who trust in Yahweh are [as secure/steadfast] [SIM] as Zion Hill, which cannot be shaken and can never be moved.

2 Um Jerusalem her sind Berge, und der HERR ist um sein Volk her von nun an bis in Ewigkeit.

Like the hills that surround Jerusalem [protect the city], Yahweh protects [us], his people, and he will protect us forever.

3 Denn das Zepter der Ungerechtigkeit wird nicht auf dem Erbteil der Gerechten bleiben, auf daß die Gerechten ihre Hände nicht ausstrecken zur Ungerechtigkeit.

Wicked people [MTY] should not [be allowed to] rule over the land where righteous [people] live. If they did that, those righteous [people] might [(be encouraged to imitate them and]) do things that are wrong.

4 HERR, tue wohl den Guten und denen, die redlichen Herzens sind!

Yahweh, do good things to those who do good things to others and to those who sincerely obey your commands [IDM].

5 Die aber abweichen auf ihre krummen Wege, lasse der HERR abführen mit den Übeltätern! Friede über Israel!

But when you punish the wicked people [who are not Israelis], also punish those [Israelis] who turn away from walking on the good roads [MET] that you have shown them! I wish that things will go well for [people in] Israel!
