Psalm 118
1 Danket dem HERRN, denn er ist gütig, denn seine Gnade währt ewig!
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; because unto eternity endureth his kindness.
2 Es sage doch Israel, daß seine Gnade ewig währt!
Let Israel then say so; because to eternity endureth his kindness.
3 Es sage doch das Haus Aaron, daß seine Gnade ewig währt!
Let the house of Aaron then say so; because to eternity endureth his kindness.
4 Es sagen doch, die den HERRN fürchten, daß seine Gnade ewig währt!
Let those who fear the Lord then say so; because to eternity endureth his kindness.
5 Ich rief zum HERRN in meiner Not, und der HERR antwortete mir durch Befreiung.
From the midst of distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me with enlargement.
6 Der HERR steht mir bei, ich fürchte nichts; was kann ein Mensch mir antun?
The Lord is for me; I will not fear: what can a man do unto me?
7 Der HERR steht mir bei unter meinen Helfern, und ich werde meine Lust sehen an denen, die mich hassen.
The Lord is for me, among those that help me: therefore shall I indeed look on [the punishment of] those that hate me.
8 Besser ist's, beim HERRN Schutz zu suchen, als sich auf Menschen zu verlassen;
It is better to seek shelter with the Lord than to trust in man.
9 besser ist's, beim HERRN Schutz zu suchen, als sich auf Fürsten zu verlassen!
It is better to seek shelter with the Lord than to trust in princes.
10 Alle Nationen haben mich umringt; im Namen des HERRN zerhaue ich sie;
All nations encompassed me about; but in the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
11 sie haben mich umringt, ja, sie haben mich umringt, im Namen des HERRN zerhaue ich sie;
They encompassed me about: yea, they compassed about, but in the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
12 sie haben mich umringt wie Bienen; sie sind erloschen wie ein Dornenfeuer; im Namen des HERRN zerhaue ich sie.
They encompassed me about like bees; they blazed up like the fire of thorns; but in the name of the Lord I will surely cut them off.
13 Du hast mich hart gestoßen, daß ich fallen sollte; aber der HERR half mir.
Thou hast thrust violently at me that I might fall; but the Lord assisted me.
14 Der HERR ist meine Stärke und mein Lied, und er ward mir zum Heil.
My strength and song is the Lord, and he is become my salvation.
15 Stimmen des Jubels und des Heils ertönen in den Hütten der Gerechten: Die Rechte des HERRN hat den Sieg errungen!
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doth valiantly.
16 Die Rechte des HERRN ist erhöht, die Rechte des HERRN errang den Sieg!
The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doth valiantly.
17 Ich werde nicht sterben, sondern leben und des HERRN Taten erzählen.
I shall not die, but I shall live, and relate the works of the Lord.
18 Der HERR züchtigt mich wohl; aber dem Tod gab er mich nicht.
Severely hath the Lord chastised me; but unto death hath he not given me up.
19 Tut mir auf die Tore der Gerechtigkeit, daß ich durch sie einziehe und den HERRN preise!
Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will enter into them. I will give thanks unto the Lord.
20 Dies ist das Tor zum HERRN! Die Gerechten sollen dahinein gehen!
This is the gate which belongeth unto the Lord, the righteous shall enter thereby.
21 Ich danke dir, daß du mich erhört hast und wurdest mein Heil!
I will thank thee: for thou but answered me, and art become my salvation.
22 Der Stein, den die Bauleute verworfen haben, ist zum Eckstein geworden;
The stone which the builders rejected is become the chief corner-stone.
23 vom HERRN ist das geschehen; es ist ein Wunder in unsern Augen!
From the Lord is this come to pass, it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 Dies ist der Tag, den der HERR gemacht; wir wollen froh sein und uns freuen an ihm!
This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will be glad and rejoice thereon.
25 Ach, HERR, hilf! Ach, HERR, laß wohl gelingen!
We beseech thee, O Lord, save [us] now: we beseech thee, O Lord, send [us] now prosperity.
26 Gesegnet sei, der da kommt im Namen des HERRN! Wir segnen euch vom Hause des HERRN.
Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we bless you out of the house of the Lord.
27 Der HERR ist Gott und hat uns erleuchtet. Bindet das Festopfer mit Stricken bis an die Hörner des Altars!
God is the Lord, and he giveth us light: bind the festive sacrifice with cords, [leading it] up to the horns of the altar.
28 Du bist mein Gott; ich will dich preisen! Mein Gott, ich will dich erheben!
Thou art my God, and I will thank thee: my God, I will exalt thee.

Oh give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; because to eternity endureth his kindness.
