Psalm 109
1 Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm Davids. Gott, den ich rühme, schweige nicht!
Unto the end, a psalm for David.
2 Denn sie haben ihr gottloses und falsches Maul wider mich aufgetan; sie sagen mir Lügen ins Gesicht,
O God, be not thou silent in thy praise: for the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful man is opened against me.
3 sie bieten gehässige Worte über mich herum und bekämpfen mich ohne Grund.
They have spoken against with deceitful tongues; and they have compassed me about with words of hatred; and have fought against me without cause.
4 Dafür, daß ich sie liebe, sind sie mir feind; ich aber bete.
Instead of making me a return of love, they detracted me: but I gave myself to prayer.
5 Sie beweisen mir Böses für Gutes und Haß für Liebe.
And they repaid me evil for good: and hatred for my love.
6 Bestelle einen Gesetzlosen über ihn, und ein Ankläger stehe zu seiner Rechten!
Set thou the sinner over him: and may the devil stand at his right hand.
7 Wenn er gerichtet wird, so möge er schuldig gesprochen werden, und sein Gebet werde ihm zur Sünde!
When he is judged, may he go out condemned; and may his prayer be turned to sin.
8 Seiner Tage seien wenige, und sein Amt empfange ein anderer!
May his days be few: and his bishopric let another take.
9 Seine Kinder sollen Waisen werden und sein Weib eine Witwe!
May his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10 Seine Kinder müssen umherwanken und betteln, hilfesuchend aus ihren Ruinen hervorkommen!
Let his children be carried about vagabonds, and beg; and let them be cast out of their dwellings.
11 Der Gläubiger nehme ihm alles weg, und Fremde sollen plündern, was er sich erworben.
May the userer search all his substance: and let strangers plunder his labours.
12 Niemand gebe ihm Gnadenfrist, und keiner erbarme sich seiner Waisen!
May there be none to help him: nor none to pity his fatherless offspring.
13 Seine Nachkommenschaft falle der Ausrottung anheim, ihr Name erlösche im zweiten Geschlecht!
May his posterity be cut off; in one generation may his name be blotted out.
14 Seiner Väter Missetat müsse gedacht werden vor dem HERRN, und seiner Mutter Sünde werde nicht ausgetilgt!
May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered in the sight of the Lord: and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15 Der HERR habe sie beständig vor Augen, daß ihr Gedächtnis von der Erde vertilgt werde,
May they be before the lord continually, and let the memory of them perish from the earth:
16 weil er nicht daran dachte, Barmherzigkeit zu üben, sondern den Elenden und Armen verfolgte und den Niedergeschlagenen, um ihn in den Tod zu treiben.
Because he remembered not to show mercy,
17 Da er den Fluch liebte, so komme er über ihn; und da er den Segen nicht begehrte, so sei er fern von ihm!
But persecuted the poor man and the beggar; and the broken in heart, to put him to death.
18 Er zog den Fluch an wie sein Gewand; so dringe er in sein Inneres wie Wasser und wie Öl in seine Gebeine;
And he loved cursing, and it shall come unto him: and he would not have blessing, and it shall be far from him. And he put on cursing, like a garment: and it went in like water into his entrails, and like oil in his bones.
19 er sei ihm wie das Kleid, das er anzieht, und wie der Gurt, damit er sich ständig umgürtet!
May it be unto him like a garment which covereth him; and like a girdle with which he is girded continually.
20 Das sei der Lohn meiner Ankläger vonseiten des HERRN, derer, welche Arges wider meine Seele reden!
This is the work of them who detract me before the Lord; and who speak evils against my soul.
21 Du aber, o HERR, mein Herr, handle mit mir um deines Namens willen; denn deine Gnade ist gut; darum errette mich!
But thou, O Lord, do with for thy names sake: because thy mercy is sweet. Do thou deliver me.
22 Denn ich bin elend und arm, und mein Herz ist verwundet in meiner Brust.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is troubled within me.
23 Wie ein Schatten, wenn er sich neigt, schleiche ich dahin; ich werde verscheucht wie eine Heuschrecke.
I am taken away like the shadow when it declineth: and I am shaken off as locusts.
24 Meine Knie wanken vom Fasten, mein Fleisch magert gänzlich ab;
My knees are weakened through fasting: and my flesh is changed for oil.
25 und ich bin ihnen zum Gespött geworden; wer mich sieht, schüttelt den Kopf.
And I am become a reproach to them: they saw me and they shaked their heads,
26 Hilf mir, o HERR, mein Gott! Rette mich nach deiner Gnade,
Help me, O Lord my God; save me according to thy mercy.
27 so wird man erkennen, daß dies deine Hand ist, daß du, HERR, solches getan hast.
And let them know that this is thy hand: and that thou, O Lord, hast done it.
28 Fluchen sie, so segne du; setzen sie sich wider mich, so müssen sie zuschanden werden; aber dein Knecht müsse sich freuen.
They will curse and thou will bless: let them that rise up against me be confounded: but thy servant shall rejoice.
29 Meine Ankläger müssen Schmach anziehen und in ihre Schande sich hüllen wie in einen Mantel.
Let them that detract me be clothed with shame: and let them be covered with the their confusion as with a double cloak.
30 Ich will den HERRN laut preisen mit meinem Munde und inmitten vieler ihn rühmen,
I will give great thanks to the Lord with my mouth: and in the midst of many I will praise him.
31 weil er dem Armen zur Seite steht, ihn zu retten von denen, die ihn verurteilen.
Because he hath stood at the right hand of the poor, to save my soul from persecutors.
