Sprueche 4
1 Gehorchet, ihr Söhne, der väterlichen Zucht und merket auf, damit ihr zu unterscheiden wisset!
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend that you may know prudence.
2 Denn ich habe euch eine gute Lehre gegeben; verlasset meine Gebote nicht!
I will give you a good gift, forsake not my law.
3 Denn da ich noch als Sohn bei meinem Vater war, als zartes und einziges Kind unter den Augen meiner Mutter,
For I also was my father’s son, tender and as an only son in the sight of my mother:
4 da lehrte er mich und sprach zu mir: Dein Herz halte meine Worte fest; bewahre meine Gebote, so wirst du leben!
And he taught me, and said: Let thy heart receive my words, keep my commandments, and thou shalt live.
5 Erwirb Weisheit, erwirb Verstand; vergiß die Reden meines Mundes nicht und weiche nicht davon ab!
Get wisdom, get prudence: forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6 Verlaß du sie nicht, so wird sie dich bewahren; liebe du sie, so wird sie dich behüten!
Forsake her not, and she shall keep thee: love her, and she shall preserve thee.
7 Der Weisheit Anfang ist: Erwirb Weisheit und um allen deinen Erwerb erwirb Verstand!
The beginning of wisdom, get wisdom, and with all thy possession purchase prudence.
8 Halte sie hoch, so wird sie dich erhöhen; sie wird dich ehren, wenn du sie liebst.
Take hold on her, and she shall exalt thee: thou shalt be glorified by her, when thou shalt embrace her.
9 Sie wird deinem Haupt einen lieblichen Kranz verleihen, eine prächtige Krone wird sie dir reichen.
She shall give to thy head increase of graces, and protect thee with a noble crown.
10 Höre, mein Sohn, nimm meine Lehren an, sie werden dir das Leben verlängern!
Hear, O my son, and receive my words, that years of life may be multiplied to thee.
11 Ich will dich den Weg der Weisheit lehren, dich leiten auf gerader Bahn.
I will shew thee the way of wisdom, I will lead thee by the paths of equity:
12 Gehst du, so wird dein Schritt nicht gehemmt, und wenn du läufst, so wirst du nicht straucheln.
Which when thou shalt have entered, thy steps shall not be straitened, and when thou runnest thou shalt not meet a stumblingblock.
13 Halte unablässig fest an der Zucht, bewahre sie; denn sie ist dein Leben.
Take hold on instruction, leave it not: keep it, because it is thy life.
14 Begib dich nicht auf den Pfad der Gottlosen und tue keinen Schritt auf dem Wege der Bösen!
Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked, neither let the way of evil men please thee.
15 Meide ihn, überschreite ihn nicht einmal, weiche davon und gehe vorüber!
Flee from it, pass not by it: go aside, and forsake it.
16 Denn sie schlafen nicht, sie haben denn Böses getan; der Schlummer flieht sie, wenn sie niemand zu Fall gebracht haben.
For they sleep not except they have done evil: and their sleep is taken away unless they have made some to fall.
17 Denn sie essen erfreveltes Brot und trinken erpreßten Wein.
They eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of iniquity.
18 Aber des Gerechten Pfad ist wie des Lichtes Glanz, das immer heller leuchtet bis zum vollen Tag.
But the path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day.
19 Der Gottlosen Weg ist dichte Finsternis; sie wissen nicht, worüber sie straucheln.
The way of the wicked is darksome: they know not where they fall.
20 Mein Sohn, merke auf meine Worte, neige dein Ohr zu meinen Reden!
My son, hearken to my words, and incline thy ear to my sayings.
21 Laß sie nie von deinen Augen weichen, bewahre sie im innersten Herzen!
Let them not depart from thy eyes, keep them in the midst of thy heart:
22 Denn sie sind das Leben denen, die sie finden, und heilsam ihrem ganzen Leib.
For they are life to those that find them, and health to all flesh.
23 Mehr als alles andere behüte dein Herz; denn von ihm geht das Leben aus.
With all watchfulness keep thy heart, because life issueth out from it.
24 Enthalte dich falscher Worte, und verdrehte Reden seien fern von dir!
Remove from thee a froward mouth, and let detracting lips be far from thee.
25 Laß deine Augen geradeaus schauen und deine Augenlider stracks vor dich blicken.
Let thy eyes look straight on, and let thy eyelids go before thy steps.
26 Erwäge wohl deine Schritte, und alle deine Wege seien bestimmt;
Make straight the path for thy feet, and all thy ways shall be established.
27 weiche weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken, halte deinen Fuß vom Bösen fern!
Decline not to the right hand, nor to the left: turn away thy foot from evil. For the Lord knoweth the ways that are on the right hand: but those are perverse which are on the left hand. But he will make thy courses straight, he will bring forward thy ways in peace.
