Obadja 1
1 Gesicht Obadjas: So spricht Gott, der HERR, über Edom: Wir haben eine Botschaft vernommen vom HERRN, und ein Bote wurde damit an die Völker entsandt: Auf! lasset uns aufbrechen wider sie zum Krieg!
The vision of Obdias. Thus saith the Lord God to Idumea; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations.
2 Siehe, ich habe dich klein gemacht unter den Völkern, sehr verachtet bist du.
Arise ye, and let us rise up against her to war.
3 Der Hochmut deines Herzens hat dich verführt, weil du an Felshängen wohnst, in der Höhe thronst; darum sprichst du in deinem Herzen: «Wer will mich zur Erde hinunterstoßen?»
Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou art greatly dishonoured. The pride of thine heart has elated thee, dwelling [as thou dost] in the holes of the rocks, [as one that] exalts his habitation, saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground?
4 Wenn du aber auch so hoch flögest wie ein Adler und dein Nest zwischen den Sternen anlegtest, so will ich dich doch von dort hinunterstürzen, spricht der HERR.
If thou shouldest mount up as the eagle, and if thou shouldest make thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
5 Wenn Diebe zu dir kämen, nächtliche Verwüster, (wie wirst du dann untergehen!) würden sie nicht stehlen, nur bis sie genug haben? Wenn Winzer zu dir kämen, würden sie nicht eine Nachlese übriglassen?
If thieves came in to thee, or robbers by night, where wouldest thou have been cast away? would they not have stolen [just] enough for themselves? and if grape-gatherers went in to thee, would they not leave a gleaning?
6 Wie ist [aber] Esau durchsucht, wie sind seine Verstecke ausfindig gemacht worden!
How has Esau been searched out, and [how] have his hidden things been detected?
7 Deine Bundesgenossen schicken dich an die Grenze zurück; getäuscht, überwältigt haben dich die Männer, mit denen du Frieden hieltest; die dein Brot aßen, haben dir Schlingen gelegt, ohne daß du es merktest.
They sent thee to thy coasts: all the men of thy covenant have withstood thee; thine allies have prevailed against thee, they have set snares under thee: they have no understanding.
8 Werde ich, spricht der HERR, an jenem Tage nicht die Weisen aus Edom vertilgen und die Einsicht vom Gebirge Esau?
In that day, saith the Lord, I will destroy the wise men out of Idumea, and understanding out of the mount of Esau.
9 Und deine Starken sollen den Mut verlieren, damit bei dem Gemetzel auf dem Gebirge Esau jedermann ausgerottet werde.
And thy warriors from Thaeman shall be dismayed, to the end that man may be cut off from the mount of Esau.
10 Wegen der Grausamkeit gegen deinen Bruder Jakob soll dich Schmach bedecken und sollst du auf ewig ausgerottet werden;
Because of the slaughter and the sin [committed against] thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11 weil du an jenem Tage, als du dabei standest, am Tage, da Fremde seine Habe wegführten und Ausländer zu seinen Toren einzogen und das Los über Jerusalem warfen, auch warst wie einer von ihnen!
From the day that thou stoodest in opposition [to him], in the days when foreigners were taking captive his forces, and strangers entered into his gates, and cast lots on Jerusalem, thou also wast as one of them.
12 Du sollst aber deine Lust nicht sehen am Tage deines Bruders, am Tage seines Unglücks, und sollst dich nicht freuen über die Kinder Juda am Tage ihres Untergangs und nicht großsprecherisch reden am Tage der Not.
And thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day of strangers; nor shouldest thou have rejoiced against the children of Juda in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have boasted in the day of [their] affliction.
13 Du sollst auch nicht zum Tor meines Volkes einziehen am Tage ihres Unglücks und auch nicht dich weiden an seinem Unglück an seinem Schicksalstag, noch deine Hand ausstrecken nach seinem Gut am Tage seines Unglücks.
Neither shouldest thou have gone into the gates of the people in the day of their troubles; nor yet shouldest thou have looked upon their gathering in the day of their destruction, nor shouldest thou have attacked their host in the day of their perishing.
14 Du sollst dich auch nicht beim Scheideweg aufstellen, um seine Flüchtlinge niederzumachen, und sollst seine Entronnenen nicht ausliefern am Tage der Not!
Neither shouldest thou have stood at the opening of their passages, to destroy utterly those of them that were escaping; neither shouldest thou have shut up his fugitives in the day of affliction.
15 Denn nahe ist der Tag des HERRN über alle Nationen; wie du getan hast, so soll dir getan werden; dein Tun fällt auf deinen Kopf zurück.
For the day of the Lord is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou have done, so shall it be [done] to thee: thy recompense shall be returned on thine [own] head.
16 Denn gleichwie ihr auf meinem heiligen Berge getrunken habt, so sollen alle Nationen beständig trinken; sie sollen trinken und schlürfen und sein, als wären sie nie gewesen.
For as thou hast drunk upon my holy mountain, [so] shall all the nations drink wine; they shall drink, and go down, and be as if they were not.
17 Aber auf dem Berge Zion wird Zuflucht sein, und er wird ein Heiligtum sein, und die vom Hause Jakob werden ihre Besitzungen einnehmen.
But on mount Sion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be a sanctuary; and the house of Jacob shall take for an inheritance those that took them for an inheritance.
18 Und das Haus Jakob wird ein Feuer sein und das Haus Joseph eine Flamme; aber das Haus Esau wird zu Stoppeln werden; und jene werden sie anzünden und verzehren, daß dem Hause Esau nichts übrigbleiben wird; denn der HERR hat's gesagt!
And the house of Jacob shall be fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau [shall be] for stubble; and [Israel] shall flame forth against them, and shall devour them, and there shall not be a corn-field [left] to the house of Esau; because the Lord has spoken.
19 Und die im Süden werden das Gebirge Esau und die in der Ebene das Philisterland einnehmen; auch die Gefilde von Ephraim und Samaria werden sie in Besitz nehmen und Benjamin [das Land] Gilead.
And they [that dwell] in the south shall inherit the mount of Esau, and they in the plain the Philistines: and they shall inherit the mount of Ephraim, and the plain of Samaria, and Benjamin, and the land of Galaad.
20 Die Gefangenen aber dieses Heeres der Kinder Israel werden in Besitz nehmen, was den Kanaanitern gehört bis nach Zarpat hin, und die Gefangenen Jerusalems, die zu Sepharad sind, die Städte des Südens.
And this [shall be] the domain of the captivity of the children of Israel, the land of the Chananites as far as Sarepta; and the captives of Jerusalem [shall inherit] as far as Ephratha; they shall inherit the cities of the south.
21 Und sie werden als Befreier nach dem Berge Zion hinaufziehen, um das Gebirge Esau zu richten. Und die Königsherrschaft wird dem HERRN gehören!
And they that escape shall come up from mount Sion, to take vengeance on the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
