Nahum 1
1 Weissagung über Ninive, Buch des Gesichtes Nahums, des Elkoschiten:
The burden of Nineueh. The booke of the vision of Nahum the Elkeshite.
2 Ein eifernder und rächender Gott ist der HERR; ein Rächer ist der HERR und voller Zorn; ein Rächer ist der HERR gegenüber seinen Widersachern, er verharrt [im Zorn] gegen seine Feinde.
God is ielous, and the Lord reuengeth: the Lord reuengeth: euen the Lord of anger, the Lord will take vengeance on his aduersaries, and he reserueth wrath for his enemies.
3 Der HERR ist langmütig und von großer Kraft; aber er läßt gewiß nicht ungestraft. Des HERRN Weg ist im Sturmwind und Ungewitter, und Wolken sind der Staub seiner Füße.
The Lord is slow to anger, but he is great in power, and will not surely cleare the wicked: the Lord hath his way in ye whirlewind, and in the storme, and the cloudes are the dust of his feete.
4 Er schilt das Meer und trocknet es aus und läßt alle Ströme versiegen; Basan und Karmel verwelken, und Libanons Grün verdorrt.
He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.
5 Berge erbeben vor ihm, und die Hügel vergehen; das Land erhebt sich vor seinem Angesicht, der Erdkreis samt allen, die darauf wohnen.
The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, and the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein.
6 Wer kann bestehen vor seinem Grimm, und wer widersteht der Glut seines Zorns? Sein Grimm ergießt sich wie ein Feuer, und Felsen stürzen vor ihm hin.
Who can stande before his wrath? or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? his wrath is powred out like fire, and the rockes are broken by him.
7 Gütig ist der HERR, eine Zuflucht am Tage der Not, und er kennt die, welche auf ihn vertrauen.
The Lord is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 Aber mit überströmender Flut wird er jener Stätte verwüsten und seine Feinde in die Finsternis jagen.
But passing ouer as with a flood, he will vtterly destroy the place thereof, and darknesse shall pursue his enemies.
9 Was macht ihr Anschläge wider den HERRN? Er wird sie zunichte machen! Die Drangsal wird sich nicht zum zweitenmal erheben.
What doe ye imagine against the Lord? he wil make an vtter destruction: affliction shall not rise vp the seconde time.
10 Denn wie Dornen vom Feuer und wie guter Wein von den Trinkern, so werden sie verschlungen wie Stoppeln, die ganz dürre sind.
For he shall come as vnto thornes folden one in another, and as vnto drunkards in their drunkennesse: they shall be deuoured as stubble fully dryed.
11 Von dir ist ausgegangen, der wider den HERRN Arges ersann, der Heilloses plante.
There commeth one out of thee that imagineth euill against the Lord, euen a wicked counsellour.
12 So spricht der HERR: Wenn sie sich auch sicher fühlen und noch so zahlreich sind, so sollen sie doch abgehauen werden, und es wird aus sein mit ihnen. Wenn ich dich demütige, werde ich dich nicht nochmals demütigen müssen;
Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
13 sondern nun will ich dein Joch zerbrechen und deine Bande zerreißen.
For nowe I will breake his yoke from thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 Und der HERR hat gegen dich den Befehl erlassen: Dein Name soll nicht mehr fortgepflanzt werden; vom Hause deines Gottes rotte ich gemeißelte und gegossene Bilder aus; ich will dir dein Grab herrichten, denn du bist zu leicht erfunden worden!
And the Lord hath giuen a commandement concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sowen: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the grauen, and the molten image: I will make it thy graue for thee, for thou art vile.
15 Siehe auf den Bergen die Füße eines guten Boten, der Frieden predigt: Feiere, Juda, dein Feste, bezahle deine Gelübde! Denn der Heillose wird forthin nicht mehr über dich kommen; er ist gänzlich vertilgt!
Beholde vpon the mountaines the feete of him that declareth, and publisheth peace: O Iudah, keepe thy solemne feastes, perfourme thy vowes: for the wicked shall no more passe thorowe thee: he is vtterly cut off.
