Matthaeus 7
1 Richtet nicht, damit ihr nicht gerichtet werdet!
Do not judge, that you may not be judged.
2 Denn mit welchem Gericht ihr richtet, werdet ihr gerichtet werden, und mit welchem Maß ihr meßt, wird euch gemessen werden.
For, just as you judge others, you will yourselves be judged, and the measure that you mete will be meted out to you.
3 Was siehst du aber den Splitter in deines Bruders Auge und wirst nicht gewahr des Balkens in deinem Auge?
And why do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye, while you pay no attention at all to the beam in yours?
4 Oder wie kannst du zu deinem Bruder sagen: Halt, ich will den Splitter aus deinem Auge ziehen, und siehe, der Balken ist in deinem Auge?
How will you say to your brother ‘Let me take out the straw from your eye,’ when all the time there is a beam in your own?
5 Du Heuchler, ziehe zuerst den Balken aus deinem Auge und dann siehe zu, wie du den Splitter aus deines Bruders Auge ziehest!
Hypocrite! Take out the beam from your own eye first, and then you will see clearly how to take out the straw from your brother’s.
6 Gebet das Heilige nicht den Hunden und werfet eure Perlen nicht vor die Schweine, damit sie dieselben nicht mit ihren Füßen zertreten und sich umwenden und euch zerreißen.
Do not give what is sacred to dogs; nor yet throw your pearls before pigs, lest they should trample them under their feet, and then turn and attack you.
7 Bittet, so wird euch gegeben; suchet, so werdet ihr finden; klopfet an, so wird euch aufgetan!
Ask, and your prayer shall be granted; search, and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.
8 Denn jeder, der bittet, empfängt; und wer sucht, der findet; und wer anklopft, dem wird aufgetan.
For he that asks receives, he that searches finds, and to him that knocks the door shall be opened.
9 Oder ist unter euch ein Mensch, der, wenn sein Sohn ihn um Brot bittet, ihm einen Stein gäbe,
Who among you, when his son asks him for a loaf, will give him a stone,
10 oder, wenn er um einen Fisch bittet, er ihm eine Schlange gäbe?
or when he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
11 Wenn nun ihr, die ihr arg seid, euren Kindern gute Gaben zu geben versteht, wieviel mehr wird euer Vater im Himmel denen Gutes geben, die ihn bitten!
If you, then, wicked though you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give what is good to those that ask him!
12 Alles nun, was ihr wollt, daß die Leute euch tun sollen, das tut auch ihr ihnen ebenso; denn dies ist das Gesetz und die Propheten.
Do to others whatever you would wish them to do to you; for that is the teaching of both the Law and the Prophets.
13 Gehet ein durch die enge Pforte. Denn die Pforte ist weit, und der Weg ist breit, der ins Verderben führt, und viele sind es, die da hineingehen.
Go in by the small gate. Broad and spacious is the road that leads to destruction, and those that go in by it are many;
14 Aber die Pforte ist eng, und der Weg ist schmal, der zum Leben führt, und wenige sind es, die ihn finden!
for small is the gate, and narrow the road, that leads to Life, and those that find it are few.
15 Hütet euch aber vor den falschen Propheten, welche in Schafskleidern zu euch kommen, inwendig aber reißende Wölfe sind.
Beware of false Teachers — men who come to you in the guise of sheep, but at heart they are ravenous wolves.
16 An ihren Früchten sollt ihr sie erkennen. Sammelt man auch Trauben von Dornen, oder Feigen von Disteln?
By the fruit of their lives you will know them. Do people gather grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
17 So bringt ein jeder gute Baum gute Früchte, der faule Baum aber bringt schlechte Früchte.
So, too, every sound tree bears good fruit, while a worthless tree bears bad fruit.
18 Ein guter Baum kann nicht schlechte Früchte bringen, und ein fauler Baum kann nicht gute Früchte bringen.
A sound tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a worthless tree bear good fruit.
19 Ein jeder Baum, der nicht gute Frucht bringt, wird abgehauen und ins Feuer geworfen.
Every tree that fails to bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Darum sollt ihr sie an ihren Früchten erkennen.
Hence it is by the fruit of their lives that you will know such men.
21 Nicht jeder, der zu mir sagt: «Herr, Herr», wird in das Himmelreich eingehen, sondern wer den Willen meines Vaters im Himmel tut.
Not every one who says to me ‘Master! Master!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven.
22 Viele werden an jenem Tage zu mir sagen: Herr, Herr, haben wir nicht in deinem Namen geweissagt und in deinem Namen Dämonen ausgetrieben und in deinem Namen viele Taten vollbracht?
On ‘That Day’ many will say to me ‘Master, Master, was not it in your name that we taught, and in your name that we drove out demons, and in your name that we did many miracles?’
23 Und dann werde ich ihnen bezeugen: Ich habe euch nie gekannt; weichet von mir, ihr Übeltäter!
And then I shall say to them plainly ‘I never knew you. Go from my presence, you who live in sin.’
24 Ein jeder nun, der diese meine Worte hört und sie tut, ist einem klugen Manne zu vergleichen, der sein Haus auf den Felsen baute.
Everyone, therefore, that listens to this teaching of mine and acts upon it may be compared to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock.
25 Als nun der Platzregen fiel und die Wasserströme kamen und die Winde wehten und an dieses Haus stießen, fiel es nicht; denn es war auf den Felsen gegründet.
The rain poured down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, for its foundations were upon the rock.
26 Und ein jeder, der diese meine Worte hört und sie nicht tut, wird einem törichten Manne gleich sein, der sein Haus auf den Sand baute.
And every one that listens to this teaching of mine and does not act upon it may be compared to a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.
27 Als nun der Platzregen fiel und die Wasserströme kamen und die Winde wehten und an dieses Haus stießen, da fiel es, und sein Fall war groß.
The rain poured down, the rivers rose, the winds blew and struck against that house, and it fell; and great was its downfall.”
28 Und es begab sich, als Jesus diese Rede beendet hatte, entsetzte sich das Volk über seine Lehre.
By the time that Jesus had finished speaking, the crowd was filled with amazement at his teaching.
29 Denn er lehrte sie wie einer, der Vollmacht hat, und nicht wie ihre Schriftgelehrten.
For he taught them like one who had authority, and not like their Teachers of the Law.
