Lukas 18
1 Er sagte ihnen aber auch ein Gleichnis dafür, daß sie allezeit beten und nicht nachlässig werden sollten,
Then he spoke a parable to them about how they should always pray and not become discouraged,
2 nämlich: Es war ein Richter in einer Stadt, der Gott nicht fürchtete und sich vor keinem Menschen scheute.
saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect people.
3 Es war aber eine Witwe in jener Stadt; die kam zu ihm und sprach: Schaffe mir Recht gegenüber meinem Widersacher!
Now there was a widow in that city, and she came often to him, saying, 'Help me get justice against my opponent.'
4 Und er wollte lange nicht; hernach aber sprach er bei sich selbst: Ob ich schon Gott nicht fürchte und mich vor keinem Menschen scheue,
For a long time he was not willing to help her, but after a while he said to himself, 'Though I do not fear God or respect man,
5 so will ich dennoch, weil mir diese Witwe Mühe macht, ihr Recht schaffen, damit sie nicht schließlich komme und mich ins Gesicht schlage.
yet because this widow causes me trouble, I will help her get justice, so that she does not wear me out by her constant coming.'”
6 Und der Herr sprach: Höret, was der ungerechte Richter sagt!
Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.
7 Sollte aber Gott nicht seinen Auserwählten Recht schaffen, die Tag und Nacht zu ihm rufen, wenn er sie auch lange warten läßt?
Now will not God also bring justice to his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long over them?
8 Ich sage euch, er wird ihnen Recht schaffen in Kürze! Doch wenn des Menschen Sohn kommt, wird er auch den Glauben finden auf Erden?
I say to you that he will bring justice to them speedily. Even so, when the Son of Man comes, will he indeed find faith on the earth?”
9 Er sagte aber auch zu etlichen, die sich selbst vertrauten, daß sie gerecht seien, und die übrigen verachteten, dieses Gleichnis:
Then he also spoke this parable to some who were persuaded in themselves that they were righteous and who despised other people,
10 Es gingen zwei Menschen hinauf in den Tempel, um zu beten, der eine ein Pharisäer, der andere ein Zöllner.
“Two men went up into the temple to pray—the one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.
11 Der Pharisäer stellte sich hin und betete bei sich selbst also: O Gott, ich danke dir, daß ich nicht bin wie die übrigen Menschen, Räuber, Ungerechte, Ehebrecher, oder auch wie dieser Zöllner.
The Pharisee stood and prayed these things about himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, unrighteous people, adulterers—or even like this tax collector.
12 Ich faste zweimal in der Woche und gebe den Zehnten von allem, was ich erwerbe.
I fast two times every week. I give tithes of all that I get.'
13 Und der Zöllner stand von ferne, wagte nicht einmal seine Augen zum Himmel zu erheben, sondern schlug an seine Brust und sprach: O Gott, sei mir Sünder gnädig!
But the tax collector, standing at a distance, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but hit his breast, saying, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
14 Ich sage euch, dieser ging gerechtfertigt in sein Haus hinab, eher als jener; denn wer sich selbst erhöht, der wird erniedrigt werden, und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, der wird erhöht werden.
I say to you, this man went back down to his house justified rather than the other, because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 Sie brachten aber auch Kindlein zu ihm, damit er sie anrühre. Da es aber die Jünger sahen, schalten sie sie.
The people were also bringing to him their infants so that he might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 Aber Jesus rief sie zu sich und sprach: Lasset die Kinder zu mir kommen und wehret es ihnen nicht; denn für solche ist das Reich Gottes.
But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Permit the little children to come to me, and do not forbid them. For the kingdom of God belongs to such ones.
17 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wer das Reich Gottes nicht annimmt wie ein Kind, wird gar nicht hineinkommen.
Truly I say to you, whoever will not receive the kingdom of God like a child will definitely not enter it.”
18 Und es fragte ihn ein Oberster und sprach: Guter Meister, was muß ich tun, um das ewige Leben zu ererben? (aiōnios g166)
A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
19 Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: Was nennst du mich gut? Niemand ist gut, als nur Gott allein.
Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except God alone.
20 Du weißt die Gebote: «Du sollst nicht ehebrechen! Du sollst nicht töten! Du sollst nicht stehlen! Du sollst nicht falsches Zeugnis reden! Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter!»
You know the commandments—do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not testify falsely, honor your father and mother.”
21 Er aber sprach: Das habe ich alles gehalten von Jugend an.
The ruler said, “All these things I have obeyed from the time I was a youth.”
22 Da Jesus das hörte, sprach er zu ihm: Eins fehlt dir noch; verkaufe alles, was du hast, und verteile es an die Armen, so wirst du einen Schatz im Himmel haben, und komm, folge mir nach!
When Jesus heard that, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. You must sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven—and come, follow me.”
23 Als er aber solches hörte, wurde er ganz traurig; denn er war sehr reich.
But when the ruler heard these things, he became extremely sad, for he was very rich.
24 Als aber Jesus ihn so sah, sprach er: Wie schwer werden die Reichen ins Reich Gottes eingehen!
Then Jesus, seeing him, became very sad and said, “How difficult it is for those who are rich to enter the kingdom of God!
25 Denn es ist leichter, daß ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr gehe, als daß ein Reicher in das Reich Gottes komme.
For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 Da sprachen die, welche es hörten: Wer kann dann gerettet werden?
Those hearing it said, “Then who can be saved?”
27 Er aber sprach: Was bei den Menschen unmöglich ist, das ist bei Gott möglich.
Jesus answered, “The things which are impossible with people are possible with God.”
28 Da sprach Petrus: Siehe, wir haben das Unsrige verlassen und sind dir nachgefolgt!
Peter said, “Well, we have left everything that is our own and have followed you.”
29 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es ist niemand, der Haus oder Weib oder Brüder oder Eltern oder Kinder verlassen hat um des Reiches Gottes willen,
Jesus then said to them, “Truly, I say to you that there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 Er nahm aber die Zwölf zu sich und sprach zu ihnen: Siehe, wir ziehen hinauf nach Jerusalem, und es wird alles erfüllt werden, was durch die Propheten über den Menschensohn geschrieben ist;
After he gathered the twelve to himself, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that have been written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.
32 denn er wird den Heiden überliefert und verspottet und mißhandelt und verspeit werden.
For he will be given over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon.
33 Und sie werden ihn geißeln und töten, und am dritten Tage wird er wieder auferstehen.
After whipping him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.”
34 Und sie verstanden nichts davon, und diese Rede war ihnen zu geheimnisvoll, und sie begriffen den Ausspruch nicht.
They understood none of these things, and this word was hidden from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.
35 Es begab sich aber, als er sich Jericho näherte, saß ein Blinder am Wege und bettelte.
It came about that, as Jesus approached Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting by the road begging,
36 Und da er das Volk vorüberziehen hörte, erkundigte er sich, was das sei.
and hearing a crowd going by, he asked what was happening.
37 Da verkündigten sie ihm, Jesus von Nazareth gehe vorüber.
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 Und er rief und sprach: Jesus, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich meiner!
So the blind man cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.”
39 Und die vorangingen, bedrohten ihn, er solle schweigen; er aber schrie noch viel mehr: Sohn Davids, erbarme dich meiner!
The ones who were walking ahead rebuked the blind man, telling him to be quiet. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me.”
40 Da blieb Jesus stehen und hieß ihn zu sich führen. Und als er herangekommen war, fragte er ihn:
Jesus stood still and commanded that the man be brought to him. Then when the blind man was near, Jesus asked him,
41 Was willst du, daß ich dir tun soll? Er sprach: Herr, daß ich sehend werde!
“What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, I want to receive my sight.”
42 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Sei sehend! Dein Glaube hat dich gerettet!
Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”
43 Und alsbald wurde er sehend und folgte ihm nach und pries Gott; und alles Volk, das solches sah, lobte Gott.
Immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw this, gave praise to God.
