Klagelieder 3
1 Ich bin der Mann, der tief gebeugt worden ist durch die Rute seines Zorns.
I [, the one who am writing this, ] am a man who has been afflicted/punished [MTY] by Yahweh because he was angry.
2 Mich hat er verjagt und in die Finsternis geführt und nicht ans Licht.
[It was as though] he caused me to walk in a very dark place without any light [at all].
3 Nur gegen mich kehrt er immer wieder den ganzen Tag seine Hand.
He has punished [IDM] me many times, all day, [every] day.
4 Er hat mein Fleisch und meine Haut verschlungen und meine Knochen zermalmt.
He has caused my skin and my flesh to become old. He has broken my bones.
5 Er hat rings um mich her Gift und Drangsal aufgebaut.
He has surrounded me [DOU] with bitterness and suffering.
6 In dunkeln Höhlen läßt er mich wohnen wie längst Verstorbene.
[It is as though] he has buried me in a dark place like [SIM] [the graves of] those who have been dead for a long time.
7 Er hat mich eingemauert, daß ich nicht herauskommen kann; mit ehernen Ketten hat er mich beschwert.
[It is as though] [MET] he has built a wall around me, and fastened/tied me with heavy chains, and I cannot escape.
8 Ob ich auch schreie und rufe, verstopft er doch die Ohren vor meinem Gebet.
Although I call out and cry out for him to help me, he does not pay attention to my prayers.
9 Quadersteine legt er mir in den Weg, krümmt meine Pfade.
[It is as though] he has blocked my path with a [high] stone [wall] and has caused my path to become crooked.
10 Er lauert mir auf wie ein Bär, wie ein Löwe im Dickicht.
He has waited to attack me like [SIM] a bear or a lion hides and waits [to attack other animals].
11 Er hat mich auf Abwege gebracht, ist über mich hergefallen und hat mich arg zugerichtet.
[It is as though] he has dragged me off the path and (mauled me/torn me into pieces), and left me without help.
12 Er hat seinen Bogen gespannt und mich dem Pfeile zum Ziel gesetzt.
[It is as though] [MET] he bent his bow and caused me to become the target [at which he shot] his arrows.
13 Er hat mir seines Köchers Söhne in die Nieren gejagt.
[It is as though] he shot his arrows deep into my body.
14 Ich bin allem Volk zum Gelächter geworden, ihr Liedlein den ganzen Tag.
All my relatives laugh at me; all day, [every] day they sing songs that make fun of me.
15 Er hat mich mit Bitterkeit gesättigt, mit Wermut getränkt.
He has filled me with (bitterness/great suffering), [like] [MET] someone who drinks a very bitter liquid suffers.
16 Er ließ meine Zähne sich an Kies zerbeißen, er hat mich mit Asche bedeckt.
[It is as though] he has caused me to chew gravel that broke my teeth, and he has trampled me in the dirt.
17 Und du hast meine Seele aus dem Frieden verstoßen, daß ich des Glückes vergaß.
Things no longer go well for me; I no longer remember being prosperous.
18 Und ich sprach: Meine Lebenskraft ist dahin, meine Hoffnung auf den HERRN.
I [continued to] say [to myself], “I no longer expect to live much longer; I no longer confidently expect [to receive good things] from Yahweh!”
19 Sei eingedenk meines Elends, meiner Verfolgung, des Wermuts und des Gifts!
When I think about my suffering and my wandering [away from home], [it is like drinking] a very bitter [DOU] liquid.
20 Beständig denkt meine Seele daran und ist tief gebeugt!
I will never forget this time when I feel very depressed/discouraged [IDM].
21 Dieses aber will ich meinem Herzen vorhalten, darum will ich Hoffnung fassen:
However, I confidently expect [Yahweh to do good things for me again] when I think about this:
22 Gnadenbeweise des HERRN sind's, daß wir nicht gänzlich aufgerieben wurden, denn seine Barmherzigkeit ist nicht zu Ende;
Yahweh never stops faithfully loving [us], and he never stops being kind to us.
23 sie ist alle Morgen neu, und deine Treue ist groß!
[He is the one whom we can] always trust/lean on. Every morning he is merciful [to us again].
24 Der HERR ist mein Teil, spricht meine Seele; darum will ich auf ihn hoffen.
[So] I say to myself, “Yahweh is all that I need; so I will confidently wait for him [to do good things for me].”
25 Der HERR ist gütig gegen die, welche auf ihn hoffen, gegen die Seele, die nach ihm fragt.
Yahweh is good to [all] those who depend on him, to those who seek his [help].
26 Gut ist's, schweigend zu warten auf das Heil des HERRN.
[So] it is good for us to wait quietly for Yahweh to save/rescue [us].
27 Es ist einem Manne gut, in seiner Jugend das Joch zu tragen.
And it is good for us to [patiently] endure [suffering] while we are young.
28 Er sitze einsam und schweige, wenn man ihm eines auferlegt!
Those [who seek his help] should sit by themselves, silently, [knowing that] it is Yahweh who has allowed/caused them to suffer.
29 Er stecke seinen Mund in den Staub; vielleicht ist noch Hoffnung vorhanden!
They should lie in the dirt, with their faces on the ground, [because] they can still hope [that Yahweh will help them].
30 Schlägt ihn jemand, so biete er ihm den Backen dar und lasse sich mit Schmach sättigen!
If someone strikes us on one cheek, we should turn the other cheek toward that person [in order that he may strike it, too], and accept/endure it when we are insulted.
31 Denn der Herr wird nicht ewig verstoßen;
Yahweh does not abandon [us his people] forever.
32 sondern wenn er betrübt hat, so erbarmt er sich auch nach der Größe seiner Gnade.
Sometimes he causes us to suffer, but sometimes he is kind [to us] because he continually and faithfully loves [us].
33 Denn nicht aus Lust plagt und betrübt ER die Menschenkinder.
And he is not happy about causing human beings to suffer or to be sad.
34 Wenn alle Gefangenen eines Landes mit Füßen getreten,
If people (mistreat all the prisoners/crush all the prisoners under their feet)
35 wenn das Recht eines Mannes vor dem Angesicht des Höchsten gebeugt,
or if they rebel against God by refusing to give to people the things that it is right for them [to receive],
36 die Rechtssache eines Menschen verdreht wird, sollte der Herr es nicht beachten?
or if they cause judges to decide matters unjustly, (does Yahweh not see all those things?/Yahweh certainly sees all those things!) [RHQ]
37 Wer hat je etwas gesagt und es ist geschehen, ohne daß der Herr es befahl?
No one can [RHQ] command something to happen [and then cause it to happen] if Yahweh has not already decided that it should happen.
38 Geht nicht aus dem Munde des Höchsten das Böse und das Gute hervor?
God in heaven [MTY] is [RHQ] the one who causes disasters to happen, and he [also] causes good things to happen.
39 Was beklagt sich der Mensch? Es hätte sich wahrlich jeder über seine Sünde zu beklagen!
[So] it is certainly not [RHQ] right for us, who are only humans, to complain when he punishes us for the sins that we have committed.
40 Lasset uns unsere Wege erforschen und durchsuchen und zum HERRN zurückkehren!
Instead, we should (examine/think carefully about) our behavior; we should turn back to Yahweh.
41 Lasset uns unsere Herzen samt den Händen zu Gott im Himmel erheben!
We should pray [IDM] sincerely and lift up our arms toward God in heaven, [and say, ]
42 Wir sind abtrünnig und widerspenstig gewesen; das hast du nicht vergeben;
“We have sinned and rebelled [against you], and you have not forgiven [us].
43 du hast dich im Zorn verborgen und uns verfolgt; du hast uns ohne Gnade erwürgt;
You have surrounded us with your anger and pursued us; you have slaughtered [us] without pitying us.
44 du hast dich in eine Wolke gehüllt, daß kein Gebet hindurchdrang;
You have hidden yourself in a cloud, with the result that you do not hear [us] when we pray.
45 du hast uns zu Kot und Abscheu gemacht unter den Völkern!
You have caused [the people of other] nations to consider us to be only garbage [DOU].
46 Alle unsere Feinde haben ihr Maul gegen uns aufgesperrt.
All our enemies have insulted us.
47 Grauen und Grube wurden uns beschieden, Verwüstung und Untergang.
We are constantly afraid [DOU], [because] we have experienced disasters and ruin [DOU].”
48 Es rinnen Wasserbäche aus meinen Augen wegen des Untergangs der Tochter meines Volkes.
I cry a lot because my people have been destroyed.
49 Mein Auge tränt unaufhörlich; denn da ist keine Ruhe,
My tears continually flow; they will not stop
50 bis der HERR vom Himmel herabschauen und dareinsehen wird.
until Yahweh looks down from heaven and sees [us].
51 Was ich sehen muß, tut meiner Seele weh ob aller Töchter meiner Stadt.
I am very grieved because of [what has happened to] the women of my city.
52 Die mich ohne Ursache hassen, stellten mir heftig nach wie einem Vogel;
Those who are my enemies hunted for me like [SIM] [people hunt for] a bird [to kill it] [even though] there was no reason [for them to do that].
53 sie wollten mich in der Grube ums Leben bringen und warfen Steine auf mich.
They threw me into a pit to kill me, and they threw stones on top of me.
54 Die Wasser gingen über mein Haupt; ich sagte: Ich bin verloren!
The water [in the pit] rose above my head, and I said [to myself], “I am about to die/drown!”
55 Aber ich rief, HERR, deinen Namen an, tief unten aus der Grube.
But from the bottom of the pit I cried out to you [MTY], “Yahweh, [help me]!”
56 Du hörtest meine Stimme: «Verschließe dein Ohr nicht vor meinem Seufzen, vor meinem Hilferuf!»
I pleaded with you, “Do not refuse to heed [MTY] me while I cry out to you!”
57 Du nahtest dich mir des Tages, als ich dich anrief, du sprachest: Fürchte dich nicht!
Then you answered me and said, “Do not be afraid!”
58 Du führtest, o Herr, die Sache meiner Seele, du rettetest mir das Leben!
Yahweh, you defended me; you did not allow me to die.
59 Du hast, o HERR, meine Unterdrückung gesehen; schaffe du mir Recht!
[Now], Yahweh, you have seen the evil things that my enemies have done to me, [so] decide my case [and show that I am right]!
60 Du hast all ihre Rachgier gesehen, alle ihre Anschläge wider mich;
You know the evil things that they have planned to do to me.
61 du hast, o HERR, ihr Schmähen gehört, alle ihre Pläne gegen mich,
Yahweh, you have heard them insult [me] and what they have planned to do to me.
62 die Reden meiner Widersacher und ihr beständiges Murmeln über mich.
Every day they whisper and mutter things about me, all day long.
63 Siehe doch: ob sie niedersitzen oder aufstehen, so bin ich ihr Spottlied.
Look at them! Whether they are standing or sitting they make fun of me with the songs that they sing.
64 Vergilt ihnen, o HERR, nach dem Werk ihrer Hände!
Yahweh, cause them to suffer in return for their causing [me] to suffer!
65 Gib ihnen Verstockung ins Herz, dein Fluch komme über sie!
Curse them [IDM] [for] their being very stubborn [IDM].
66 Verfolge sie in deinem Zorn und vertilge sie unter dem Himmel des HERRN hinweg!
Because you are angry with them, pursue them and get rid of them, [until none of them remain] on the earth.
