Josua 2
1 Da sandte Josua, der Sohn Nuns, von Sittim zwei Männer heimlich als Kundschafter aus und sprach: Gehet hin, besehet das Land und Jericho! Diese gingen hin und kamen in das Haus einer Dirne namens Rahab und legten sich daselbst nieder.
And he sent Joshua [the] son of Nun from Shittim two men spies secretly saying go see the land and Jericho and they went and they went [the] house of a woman a prostitute and name her [was] Rahab and they lay down there.
2 Es ward aber dem König zu Jericho gesagt: Siehe, in dieser Nacht sind Männer von den Kindern Israel hereingekommen, das Land auszukundschaften!
And it was told to [the] king of Jericho saying here! men they have come hither this night from [the] people of Israel to spy out the land.
3 Da sandte der König von Jericho zu Rahab und ließ ihr sagen: Gib die Männer heraus, die zu dir in dein Haus gekommen sind; denn sie sind gekommen, das ganze Land auszukundschaften!
And he sent [the] king of Jericho to Rahab saying bring out the men who came to you who they came to house your for to spy out all the land they have come.
4 Das Weib hatte die beiden Männer genommen und verborgen und sprach nun: Es sind freilich Männer zu mir hereingekommen; aber ich wußte nicht, von wannen sie waren;
And she took the woman [the] two the men and she hid him and she said - right they came to me the men and not I knew from where [were] they.
5 und als man die Tore zuschließen wollte, da es finster ward, gingen sie hinaus; ich weiß nicht, wohin sie gegangen sind. Jaget ihnen eilends nach, denn ihr werdet sie einholen!
And it was the gate [about] to shut at darkness and the men they went out not I know where? did they go the men pursue quickly after them for you will overtake them.
6 Sie aber ließ dieselben auf das Dach steigen und verbarg sie unter die Flachsstengel, die sie auf dem Dache ausgebreitet hatte.
And she she had taken up them the roof towards and she had hidden them among [the] flax of the tree that had been arranged by her on the roof.
7 Und die Männer jagten ihnen nach auf dem Wege zum Jordan bis an die Furt; und man schloß das Tor zu, als die hinauswaren, die ihnen nachjagten.
And the men they pursued after them [the] road of the Jordan to the fords and the gate people closed after just when they had gone out the pursuers after them.
8 Ehe aber die Männer sich schlafen legten, stieg sie zu ihnen auf das Dach hinauf
And they not yet they had lain down! and she she went up to them on the roof.
9 und sprach zu ihnen: Ich weiß, daß euch der HERR das Land geben wird; denn es hat uns Furcht vor euch überfallen, und alle Einwohner des Landes sind vor euch verzagt.
And she said to the men I know that he has given Yahweh to you the land and that it has fallen dread your on us and that they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of you.
10 Denn wir haben gehört, wie der HERR das Wasser des Schilfmeers vor euch ausgetrocknet hat, als ihr aus Ägypten zoget, und was ihr den beiden Königen der Amoriter, Sihon und Og, jenseits des Jordan getan habt, an denen ihr den Bann vollstreckt habt.
For we have heard this: he dried up Yahweh [the] waters of [the] sea of reed[s] from before you when came out you from Egypt and [that] which you did to [the] two [the] kings of the Amorite[s] who [was] on [the] other side of the Jordan to Sihon and to Og whom you totally destroyed them.
11 Und da wir solches hörten, ist unser Herz verzagt geworden, und es ist kein rechter Mut mehr in irgend jemand vor euch; denn der HERR, euer Gott, ist Gott oben im Himmel und unten auf Erden.
And we heard and it melted heart our and not it arose again spirit in anyone because of you for Yahweh God your he [is] God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.
12 Und nun schwöret mir doch bei dem HERRN, daß, wie ich an euch Barmherzigkeit getan, auch ihr an meines Vaters Haus Barmherzigkeit beweisen wollet, und gebet mir ein sicheres Zeichen,
And therefore swear please to me by Yahweh for I have done with you loyalty and you will do also you with [the] household of father my loyalty and you will give to me a sign of faithfulness.
13 daß ihr meinen Vater, meine Mutter, meine Brüder und meine Schwestern samt allen ihren Angehörigen am Leben lassen und unsre Seele vom Tode erretten wollt.
And you will let live father my and mother my and brothers my and (sisters my *Q(K)*) and all who [belong] to them and you will deliver lives our from death.
14 Die Männer sprachen zu ihr: Unsere Seele soll an eurer Statt des Todes sein, sofern ihr diese unsere Sache nicht verratet! Und wenn der HERR uns dieses Land gibt, so wollen wir an dir Barmherzigkeit und Treue beweisen!
And they said to her the men life our for you to die if not you will tell business our this and it will be when gives Yahweh to us the land and we will do with you loyalty and faithfulness.
15 Da ließ sie dieselben an einem Seil durch das Fenster hinunter; denn ihr Haus war an der Stadtmauer, und sie wohnte an der Mauer.
And she let down them with rope through the window for house her [was] in [the] wall of the city wall and in the city wall she [was] dwelling.
16 Und sie sprach zu ihnen: Gehet auf das Gebirge, daß euch eure Verfolger nicht begegnen, und verberget euch daselbst drei Tage lang, bis eure Verfolger zurückgekehrt sind; darnach geht eures Weges!
And she said to them the hill country towards go lest they should meet you the pursuers and you will hide yourselves there three days until return the pursuers and after you will go to way your.
17 Und die Männer sprachen zu ihr: Wir wollen aber dieses deines Eides los sein, den du uns hast schwören lassen:
And they said to her the men [will be] free we from oath your this which you made swear us.
18 siehe, wenn wir in das Land kommen, so sollst du dieses karmesinrote Seil, womit du uns hinabgelassen hast, in das Fenster knüpfen, und deinen Vater, deine Mutter, deine Brüder und deines Vaters ganzes Haus zu dir in das Haus versammeln.
Here! we [are] about to come in the land [the] cord of [the] thread of the scarlet this you will bind in the window which you let down us in it and father your and mother your and brothers your and all [the] household of father your you will gather to you the house towards.
19 Und wer zur Tür deines Hauses hinaus auf die Straße geht, desselben Blut sei auf seinem Haupt, wir aber unschuldig; wenn aber an jemand von denen, die bei dir im Hause sind, Hand gelegt wird, so soll ihr Blut auf unserm Haupte sein.
And it will be every [one] who he will go out from [the] doors of house your - the outside towards blood his [will be] on own head his and we [will be] free and every [one] who he will be with you in the house blood his [will be] on head our if a hand it will be on him.
20 Auch wenn du etwas von dieser unserer Sache aussagen wirst, so wollen wir deines Eides los sein, den du uns hast schwören lassen.
And if you will tell business our this and we will be free from oath your which you made swear us.
21 Sie sprach: Es sei, wir ihr saget! und ließ sie gehen. Und sie gingen hin; sie aber knüpfte das karmesinrote Seil ins Fenster.
And she said according to words your [be] so it and she sent off them and they went and she bound [the] cord of the scarlet in the window.
22 Und jene gingen aufs Gebirge und blieben drei Tage lang daselbst, bis ihre Verfolger zurückgekehrt waren; diese hatten sie auf allen Straßen gesucht und doch nicht gefunden.
And they went and they came the hill country towards and they remained there three days until they returned the pursuers and they searched the pursuers in all the way and not they found [them].
23 Also stiegen die beiden Männer wieder vom Gebirge hinunter, setzten über und kamen zu Josua, dem Sohne Nuns, und erzählten ihm alles, wie sie es gefunden hatten,
And they returned [the] two the men and they went down from the hill country and they passed over and they came to Joshua [the] son of Nun and they recounted to him all the [things that] had found with them.
24 und sprachen zu Josua: Der HERR hat das ganze Land in unsre Hände gegeben; auch sind alle Einwohner verzagt vor uns!
And they said to Joshua that he has given Yahweh in hand our all the land and also they have melted away all [the] inhabitants of the land because of us.
