Josua 17

1 Auch dem Stamme Manasse fiel das Los (denn er ist der Erstgeborene Josephs), nämlich Machir, dem Erstgebornen Manasses, dem Vater Gileads; demselben ward Gilead und Basan zuteil, weil er ein Kriegsmann war.

And the borders of the tribe of the children of Manasse, (for he [was] the firstborn of Joseph, ) [assigned] to Machir the firstborn of Manasse the father of Galaad, for he was a warrior, [were] in the land of Galaad and of Basan.

2 Aber den übrigen Kindern Manasse nach ihren Geschlechtern fiel das Los auch, nämlich den Kindern Abiesers, den Kindern Heleks, den Kindern Asriels, den Kindern Sichems, den Kindern Hephers und den Kindern Semidas. Das sind die männlichen Nachkommen Manasses, des Sohnes Josephs, nach ihren Geschlechtern.

And there was [land] assigned to the other sons of Manasse according to their families; to the sons of Jezi, and to the sons of Kelez, and to the sons of Jeziel, and to the sons of Sychem, and to the sons of Symarim, and to the sons of Opher: these [are] the males according to their families.

3 Aber Zelophchad, der Sohn Hephers, des Sohnes Gileads, des Sohnes Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, hatte keine Söhne, sondern nur Töchter, und ihre Namen sind diese: Machla, Noah, Hogla, Milka und Tirza.

And Salpaad the sons of Opher had no sons but daughters: and these [are] the names of the daughters of Salpaad; Maala, and Nua, and Egla, and Melcha, and Thersa.

4 Diese traten vor den Priester Eleasar und vor Josua, den Sohn Nuns, und vor die Obersten und sprachen: Der HERR hat Mose geboten, daß er uns unter unsern Brüdern ein Erbteil geben solle. Und man gab ihnen ein Erbteil unter den Brüdern ihres Vaters, nach dem Befehle des HERRN.

And they stood before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua, and before the rulers, saying, God gave a charge by the hand of Moses, to give us an inheritance in the midst of our brethren: so there was given to them by the command of the Lord an inheritance amongst the brethren of their father.

5 Und so fielen auf Manasse zehn Teile, außer dem Lande Gilead und Basan, das jenseits des Jordan liegt.

And their lot fell [to them] from Anassa, and [to the] plain of Labec of the land of Galaad, which is beyond Jordan.

6 Denn die Töchter Manasses empfingen ein Erbteil unter seinen Söhnen; aber das Land Gilead ward den übrigen Manassitern zuteil.

For the daughters of the sons of Manasse inherited a portion in the midst of their brethren, and the land of Galaad was assigned to the remainder of the sons of Manasse.

7 Und Manasses Grenze lief von Asser an gen Mikmetat, das vor Sichem liegt, und geht zur Rechten bis zu den Einwohnern von En-Tappuach.

And the borders of the sons of Manasse were Delanath, which is before the sons of Anath, and it proceeds to the borders [even] to Jamin and Jassib to the fountain of Thaphthoth.

8 Denn das Land Tappuach ward Manasse zuteil; aber Tappuach, an der Grenze Manasses, ward den Kindern Ephraim zugeteilt.

It shall belong to Manasse, and Thapheth on the borders of Manasse [shall belong] to the sons of Ephraim.

9 Darnach kommt die Grenze herab gegen Nahal-Kana, südlich vom Bache. (Diese Städte gehören zu Ephraim mitten unter den Städten Manasses). Aber die Grenze von Manasse ist nördlich vom Bach und endigt am Meer.

And the borders shall go down to the valley of Carana southward by the valley of Jariel, ([there is] a turpentine tree [belonging] to Ephraim between [that and] the city of Manasse: ) and the borders of Manasse [are] northward to the brook; and the sea shall be its termination.

10 Dem Ephraim wurde das Land gegen Mittag und dem Manasse dasjenige gegen Mitternacht zuteil. Und das Meer ist seine Grenze; an Asser stößt es gegen Mitternacht und an Issaschar gegen Morgen.

Southward [the land belongs] to Ephraim, and northward to Manasse; and the sea shall be their cost; and northward they shall border upon Aseb, and eastward upon Issachar.

11 Es gehörten aber zu Manasse in [dem Gebiete von] Issaschar und Asser: Beth-Sean und seine Dörfer, Jibleam und seine Dörfer, die Einwohner zu Dor und seine Dörfer, die Einwohner zu En-Dor und seine Dörfer, die Einwohner zu Taanach und seine Dörfer, die Einwohner zu Megiddo und seine Dörfer, die drei Anhöhen.

And Manasses shall have in [the portion of] Issachar and Aser Baethsan and their villages, and the inhabitants of Dor, and its villages, and the inhabitants of Mageddo, and its villages, and the third part of Mapheta, and its villages.

12 Aber die Kinder Manasse konnten diese Städte nicht einnehmen, sondern es gelang den Kanaanitern, in demselben Lande zu bleiben.

And the sons of Manasse were not able to destroy these cities; and the Chananite began to dwell in that land.

13 Als aber die Kinder Israel mächtig wurden, machten sie die Kanaaniter fronpflichtig; aber vertrieben haben sie dieselben nicht.

And it came to pass that when the children of Israel were strong, they made the Chananites subject, but they did not utterly destroy them.

14 Es redeten aber die Kinder Joseph mit Josua und sprachen: Warum hast du mir nur ein Los und einen Anteil zum Erbbesitz gegeben, da ich doch ein großes Volk bin, wie mich denn der HERR bisher gesegnet hat?

And the sons of Joseph answered Joshua, saying, Therefore have you caused us to inherit one inheritance, and one line? whereas I am a great people, and God has blessed me.

15 Da sprach Josua zu ihnen: Wenn du doch ein großes Volk bist, so ziehe hinauf in den Wald und rode dir daselbst aus, in dem Lande der Pheresiter und Rephaiter, weil dir das Gebirge Ephraim zu eng ist!

And Joshua said to them, If you be a great people, go up to the forest, and clear [the land] for yourself, If mount Ephraim be too little for you.

16 Da sprachen die Kinder Joseph: Das Gebirge wird nicht hinreichen für uns; es sind aber eiserne Wagen bei allen Kanaanitern, die in der Ebene wohnen, zu Beth-Sean und in seinen Dörfern und in der Ebene Jesreel.

And they said, The mount of Ephraim does not please us, and the Chananite dwelling in it in Baethsan, and in its villages, [and] in the valley of Jezrael, has choice cavalry and iron.

17 Da sprach Josua zum Hause Josephs, zu Ephraim und Manasse: Du bist ein großes Volk und hast eine große Kraft, du sollst nicht nur ein Los haben;

And Joshua said to the sons of Joseph, If you are a great people, and have great strength, you shall not have [only] one inheritance.

18 sondern das Gebiet soll dein sein, wo der Wald ist; den rode dir aus, und es sollen die Ausgänge des Waldes dein sein; denn du sollst die Kanaaniter vertreiben, eben weil sie eiserne Wagen haben und mächtig sind!

For you shall have the wood, for there is a wood, and you shall clear it, and [the land] shall be your; even when you shall have utterly destroyed the Chananite, for he has chosen cavalry; yet you are stronger than he.
