Josua 10
1 Als aber Adoni-Zedek, der König zu Jerusalem, hörte, daß Josua Ai erobert und an ihm den Bann vollstreckt hatte, und Ai samt seinem König also getan, wie er Jericho und seinem König getan hatte, und daß die Einwohner von Gibeon mit Israel Frieden gemacht hatten und sich unter ihnen aufhielten, fürchteten sie sich sehr,
And it came to pass when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it, that he had done to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them,
2 weil Gibeon eine große Stadt war, wie eine der königlichen Städte, und weil sie größer war als Ai, und alle ihre Bürger streitbar.
that they feared greatly; for Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and it was greater than Ai, and all its men were mighty.
3 Darum sandte Adoni-Zedek, der König zu Jerusalem, [Boten] zu Hoham, dem König zu Hebron, und zu Piream, dem König von Jarmut, und zu Japhia, dem König von Lachis, und zu Debir, dem König zu Eglon, und ließ ihnen sagen:
And Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piream king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Kommet herauf zu mir und helfet mir, daß wir Gibeon schlagen; denn es hat mit Josua und den Kindern Israel Frieden gemacht!
Come up to me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon; for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5 Da kamen zusammen und zogen hinauf die fünf Könige der Amoriter, der König zu Jerusalem, der König zu Hebron, der König zu Jarmut, der König zu Lachis und der König zu Eglon mit ihrem ganzen Heerlager, und sie belagerten Gibeon und stritten wider es.
And the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, [and] the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their armies, and they encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 Aber die Männer zu Gibeon sandten [Boten] zu Josua ins Lager gen Gilgal und ließen ihm sagen: Ziehe deine Hand nicht ab von deinen Knechten; komm eilends zu uns herauf und errette uns und hilf uns; denn alle Könige der Amoriter, die auf dem Gebirge wohnen, haben sich wider uns versammelt!
And the men of Gibeon sent to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal, saying, Withdraw not thy hand from thy servants: come up to us quickly, and save us and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill-country are gathered against us.
7 Und Josua zog hinauf von Gilgal, er und alles Kriegsvolk mit ihm und alle streitbaren Männer.
So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, even all the valiant men.
8 Und der HERR sprach zu Josua: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, denn ich habe sie in deine Hand gegeben! Niemand unter ihnen wird vor dir bestehen können.
And Jehovah said to Joshua, Fear them not; for into thy hand have I given them: not a man of them shall stand before thee.
9 Also kam Josua plötzlich über sie; denn er zog die ganze Nacht hindurch von Gilgal herauf.
And Joshua came upon them suddenly; he went up from Gilgal all night.
10 Und der HERR erschreckte sie vor Israel und schlug sie in einer großen Schlacht bei Gibeon: und sie jagten ihnen nach auf dem Wege nach den Anhöhen von Beth-Horon und sie schlugen sie bis gen Aseka und bis gen Makeda.
And Jehovah discomfited them before Israel, and smote them [with] a great slaughter at Gibeon; and he chased them on the way of the ascent of Beth-horon, and smote them up to Azekah and Makkedah.
11 Und als sie vor Israel flohen und am Abhange von Beth-Horon waren, ließ der HERR große Steine vom Himmel auf sie fallen bis gen Aseka, daß sie starben; und von den Hagelsteinen starben ihrer viel mehr als derer, welche die Kinder Israel mit dem Schwert umbrachten.
And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, — they were at the descent of Beth-horon, — that Jehovah cast down great stones from heaven upon them up to Azekah, and they died. They were more who died with the hailstones than they whom the children of Israel had slain with the sword.
12 Da redete Josua mit dem HERRN an dem Tage, als der HERR die Amoriter vor den Kindern Israel dahingab, und sprach in Gegenwart Israels: Sonne, stehe still zu Gibeon, und du, Mond, im Tale Ajalon!
Then spoke Joshua to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah gave up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand still upon Gibeon; And thou, moon, in the valley of Ajalon!
13 Da stand die Sonne still, und der Mond stand still, bis sich das Volk an seinen Feinden gerächt hatte. Ist dies nicht geschrieben im Buche der Frommen? Also stand die Sonne still mitten am Himmel und eilte nicht unterzugehen, beinahe einen ganzen Tag.
And the sun stood still, and the moon remained where it was, until the nation had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? And the sun remained standing in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a full day.
14 Und kein Tag war diesem gleich, weder zuvor noch hernach, da der HERR der Stimme eines Mannes gehorchte; denn der HERR stritt für Israel.
And there was no day like that before it or after it, that Jehovah hearkened to the voice of a man; for Jehovah fought for Israel.
15 Und Josua zog wieder ins Lager gen Gilgal, und ganz Israel mit ihm.
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp, to Gilgal.
16 Aber jene fünf Könige waren geflohen und hatten sich versteckt in der Höhle zu Makeda.
And these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
17 Da ward dem Josua gesagt: Die fünf Könige sind gefunden worden, verborgen in der Höhle Makeda!
And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings have been found, hid in the cave at Makkedah.
18 Josua sprach: So wälzet große Steine vor den Eingang der Höhle und stellet Männer davor, sie zu bewachen.
And Joshua said, Roll great stones before the mouth of the cave, and set men before it to keep them.
19 Ihr aber stehet nicht stille, sondern jaget euren Feinden nach und schlaget ihre Nachhut und lasset sie nicht in ihre Städte kommen; denn der HERR, euer Gott, hat sie in eure Hand gegeben!
And ye, stay not, pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities; for Jehovah your God has given them into your hand.
20 Als nun Josua und die Kinder Israel sie gänzlich geschlagen hatten in einer sehr großen Schlacht, bis sie aufgerieben waren, und das, was von ihnen übrig blieb, in die festen Städte entkommen war:
And it came to pass when Joshua and the children of Israel had ended smiting them with a very great slaughter, until they were consumed, that the remnant which remained of them entered into fortified cities;
21 da zog alles Volk mit Frieden wieder in das Lager zu Josua gen Makeda; niemand streckte mehr seine Zunge aus gegen jemand von den Kindern Israel.
and all the people returned to the camp to Joshua, at Makkedah, in peace; none moved his tongue against the children of Israel.
22 Josua aber sprach: Öffnet den Eingang der Höhle und führet diese fünf Könige aus der Höhle heraus zu mir!
And Joshua said, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring forth to me those five kings out of the cave.
23 Sie taten also und brachten diese fünf Könige aus der Höhle heraus zu ihm: den König von Jerusalem, den König von Hebron, den König von Jarmut, den König von Lachis und den König von Eglon.
And they did so, and brought forth to him those five kings out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.
24 Als sie aber diese Könige zu Josua herausgeführt hatten, rief Josua allen Männern Israels und sprach zu den Obersten des Kriegsvolkes, die mit ihm gezogen waren: Kommt herzu und setzet euren Fuß auf den Nacken dieser Könige! Und sie kamen herzu und setzten ihnen den Fuß auf den Nacken.
And it came to pass when they had brought forth those kings to Joshua, that Joshua called to all the men of Israel, and said to the captains of the men of war who went with him, Come forward, put your feet on the necks of these kings. And they came forward and put their feet on their necks.
25 Da sprach Josua zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht und lasset euch nicht grauen; seid stark; denn also wird der HERR allen euren Feinden tun, wider die ihr streitet!
And Joshua said to them, Fear not, neither be dismayed; be strong and courageous, for thus will Jehovah do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
26 Darnach schlug sie Josua und tötete sie und hängte sie an fünf Bäume. Und sie hingen an den Bäumen bis zum Abend.
And afterwards Joshua smote them, and put them to death, and hanged them on five trees; and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.
27 Als aber die Sonne unterging, gebot Josua, daß man sie von den Bäumen nehme und sie in die Höhle werfe, darin sie sich verkrochen hatten; und sie legten große Steine vor den Eingang der Höhle; die sind noch daselbst bis auf den heutigen Tag.
And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave where they had been hid, and laid great stones before the cave's mouth, [which remain] to this very day.
28 An demselben Tage gewann Josua auch Makeda und schlug es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes samt seinem König und vollstreckte an ihnen und an allen Seelen, die darin waren, den Bann, und ließ niemand übrigbleiben und tat dem König zu Makeda, wie er dem König zu Jericho getan hatte.
And Joshua took Makkedah on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, him and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed; he let none remain; and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.
29 Da zog Josua und ganz Israel mit ihm von Makeda gen Libna und stritt wider Libna.
And Joshua passed, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah to Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
30 Und der HERR gab es samt seinem König auch in die Hand Israels; und er schlug es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, und alle Seelen, die darin waren, und ließ niemand darin übrigbleiben und tat seinem König, wie er dem König zu Jericho getan hatte.
And Jehovah gave it also and the king thereof into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it: and he did to the king thereof as he had done to the king of Jericho.
31 Darnach zog Josua und ganz Israel mit ihm von Libna gen Lachis und belagerte und bekämpfte es.
And Joshua passed, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it.
32 Und der HERR gab auch Lachis in die Hand Israels, so daß sie es am zweiten Tage einnahmen und mit der Schärfe des Schwertes schlugen, samt allen Leuten, die darin waren; ganz wie er Libna getan hatte.
And Jehovah gave Lachish into the hand of Israel; and they took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Zu derselben Zeit zog Horam, der König zu Geser, hinauf, um Lachis zu helfen. Aber Josua schlug ihn samt all seinem Volk, bis ihm nicht einer übrigblieb.
Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34 Und Josua zog mit ganz Israel von Lachis gen Eglon und belagerte es und bekämpfte
And Joshua, and all Israel with him, passed from Lachish to Eglon; and they encamped against it, and fought against it.
35 und eroberte es an demselben Tag, und schlug es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und vollstreckte den Bann an allen Seelen, die darin waren, an demselben Tag; ganz wie er Lachis getan hatte.
And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword; and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed on that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 Darnach zog Josua mit ganz Israel von Eglon gen Hebron hinauf und bekämpfte es
And Joshua went up, and all Israel with him, from Eglon to Hebron; and they fought against it.
37 und nahm es ein und schlug es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, samt seinem König und allen seinen Städten und allen Seelen, die darin waren, und ließ nicht einen übrigbleiben (genau so, wie er Eglon getan hatte) und er vollstreckte an ihnen und an allen Seelen, die darin waren, den Bann.
And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein: he let none remain, according to all that he had done to Eglon; and he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls that were therein.
38 Da kehrte Josua wieder um, mit ganz Israel, gen Debir und bekämpfte es;
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it.
39 und er gewann es samt seinem König und allen seinen Städten und schlug es mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und vollstreckte den Bann an allen Seelen, die darin waren; wie er Hebron und Libna samt ihrem König getan hatte, also tat er Debir und seinem König.
And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: as he had done to Hebron, and as he had done to Libnah, and to the king thereof, so he did to Debir and to the king thereof.
40 Also schlug Josua das ganze Land auf dem Gebirge und gegen den Süden und in den Tälern und an den Abhängen, samt allen ihren Königen, und ließ nicht einen übrigbleiben und vollstreckte den Bann an allem, was Odem hatte, wie der HERR, der Gott Israels, geboten hatte.
And Joshua smote the whole country, the mountain, and the south, and the lowland, and the hill-slopes, and all their kings: he let none remain, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as Jehovah the God of Israel had commanded.
41 Und Josua schlug sie von Kadesch-Barnea an bis Gaza, und das ganze Land Gosen bis Gibeon.
And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even to Gazah, and all the country of Goshen, even to Gibeon;
42 Und Josua nahm alle diese Könige samt ihrem Lande auf einmal; denn der HERR, der Gott Israels, stritt für Israel.
and all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time; for Jehovah the God of Israel fought for Israel.
43 Und Josua kehrte mit ganz Israel wieder in das Lager zurück gen Gilgal.
And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp, to Gilgal.
