Job 36
1 Und Elihu fuhr fort und sprach:
Continuing in a similar manner, Eliu had this to say:
2 Gedulde dich noch ein wenig, so will ich dich lehren, ich habe noch mehr zu reden für Gott.
Bear with me for a little while and I will show you; for I have still more to say in favor of God.
3 Ich will mein Wissen weither holen und meinem Schöpfer Gerechtigkeit widerfahren lassen!
I will review my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker to be just.
4 Denn wahrlich, meine Reden sind keine Lügen, du hast es mit einem ganz Verständigen zu tun!
For truly my words are without any falsehood and perfect knowledge will be proven to you.
5 Siehe, Gott ist mächtig, doch verachtet er niemand; groß ist die Kraft seines Herzens.
God does not abandon the powerful, for he himself is also powerful.
6 Den Gottlosen läßt er nicht leben, aber den Elenden schafft er Recht.
But he does not save the impious, though he grants judgment to the poor.
7 Er wendet seine Augen nicht ab von den Gerechten und setzt sie auf ewig mit Königen auf den Thron, damit sie herrschen.
He will not take his eyes away from the just, and he continually establishes kings on their throne, and they are exalted.
8 Sind sie aber in Fesseln gebunden, in Banden des Elends gefangen,
And, if they are in captivity, or are bound with the chains of poverty,
9 so hält er ihnen ihre Taten und ihre Übertretungen vor; denn sie haben sich überhoben;
he will reveal to them their works, as well as their sinfulness, in that they were violent.
10 er öffnet ihr Ohr der Bestrafung und befiehlt ihnen, sich von der Bosheit abzukehren.
Likewise, he will open their ears to his correction, and he will speak to them, so that they may return from iniquity.
11 Wenn sie dann gehorchen und sich unterwerfen, so werden sie ihre Tage in Glück und ihre Jahre in Wohlfahrt beendigen.
If they listen and obey, they will fill their days with goodness and complete their years in glory.
12 Gehorchen sie aber nicht, so kommen sie um durchs Schwert und sterben dahin in ihrem Unverstand.
But if they will not listen, they will pass away by the sword and will be consumed by foolishness.
13 Denn die, welche ruchlosen Herzens sind, widersetzen sich; sie flehen nicht, wenn er sie gefesselt hat.
The false and the crafty provoke the wrath of God, yet they do not cry out to him when they are chained.
14 Ihre Seele stirbt in der Jugend und ihr Leben unter den Hurern.
Their soul will die in a storm, and their life, among the unmanly.
15 Den Gedemütigten aber rettet er durch die Demütigung und öffnet durch die Trübsal sein Ohr.
He will rescue the poor from his anguish, and he will open his ear during tribulation.
16 Und auch dich lockt er aus der Enge in die Weite, da keine Not mehr sein wird, und an einen reichbesetzten Tisch.
Therefore, he will save you from the narrow mouth very widely, even though it has no foundation under it. Moreover, your respite at table will be full of fatness.
17 Bist du aber vom Urteil des Gottlosen erfüllt, so werden Urteil und Gericht dich treffen.
Your case has been judged like that of the impious; you will withdraw your plea and your judgment.
18 Der Zorn verleite dich ja nicht zur Lästerung, und die Menge des Lösegeldes besteche dich nicht.
Therefore, do not let anger overwhelm you so that you oppress another; neither should you allow a multitude of gifts to influence you.
19 Wird er deinen Reichtum schätzen? Er achtet nicht auf Gold, noch auf alle Anstrengungen der Kraft.
Lay down your greatness without distress, and put aside all of your power with courage.
20 Sehne dich nicht nach der Nacht, da Völker untergehen werden.
Do not prolong the night, even if people rise on their behalf.
21 Hüte dich, wende dich nicht zum Bösen, denn dieses ziehst du dem Leiden vor.
Be careful that you do not turn to iniquity; for, after your misery, you have begun to follow this.
22 Siehe, Gott ist erhaben in seiner Kraft, wo ist ein Lehrer wie er?
Behold, God is exalted in his strength, and there is no one like him among the law-givers.
23 Wer will ihn zur Rede stellen über seinen Weg, und wer will zu ihm sagen: Du hast Unrecht getan?
Who is able to investigate his ways? And who can say, “You have done iniquity,” to him?
24 Gedenke daran, sein Tun zu erheben; die Menschen sollen es besingen.
Remember that you are ignorant of his work, yet men have sung its praises.
25 Alle Menschen sehen es ja, der Sterbliche schaut es von ferne.
All men consider him; and each one ponders from a distance.
26 Siehe, wie erhaben ist Gott! Wir aber verstehen ihn nicht; die Zahl seiner Jahre hat niemand erforscht.
Behold, God is great, defeating our knowledge; the number of his years is inestimable.
27 Denn er zieht Wassertropfen herauf; sie träufeln als Regen aus seinem Dunst, den die Wolken rieseln lassen,
He carries away the drops of rain, and he sends forth showers like a raging whirlpool;
28 sie triefen auf viele Menschen herab.
they flow from the clouds that are woven above everything.
29 Versteht man auch das Ausspannen der Wolken und das Krachen seines Gezelts?
If he wills it, he extends the clouds as his tent
30 Siehe, er breitet sein Licht um sich her aus und bedeckt die Gründe des Meeres;
and shines with his light from above; likewise, he covers the oceans within his tent.
31 denn damit richtet er die Völker und gibt Speise die Fülle.
For he judges the people by these things, and he gives food to a multitude of mortals.
32 Seine Hände bedeckt er mit Licht und gebietet ihm, zu treffen.
Within his hands, he hides the light, and he commands it to come forth again.
33 Sein Donnern kündigt ihn an, die Herde sein Heraufsteigen [im Gewitter].
He announces it to his friend, for it is his possession and he is able to reach out to it.
