Job 15
1 Da antwortete Eliphas, der Temaniter, und sprach:
Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and saide,
2 Soll ein Weiser mit windigem Wissen antworten und seinen Leib mit Ostwind füllen?
Shal a wise man speake words of ye winde, and fill his bellie with the East winde?
3 Zurechtweisung mit Worten nützt nichts, und mit Reden richtet man nichts aus.
Shall he dispute with wordes not comely? or with talke that is not profitable?
4 Doch du hebst die Gottesfurcht auf und schwächst die Andacht vor Gott.
Surely thou hast cast off feare, and restrainest prayer before God.
5 Denn deine Missetat lehrt deinen Mund, und du wählst die Sprache der Schlauen.
For thy mouth declareth thine iniquitie, seeing thou hast chosen ye tongue of the crafty.
6 Dein eigener Mund soll dich verurteilen und nicht ich, deine Lippen sollen zeugen wider dich!
Thine owne mouth condemneth thee, and not I, and thy lippes testifie against thee.
7 Bist du der Erstgeborene der Menschen, und warest du vor den Hügeln da?
Art thou the first man, that was borne? and wast thou made before the hils?
8 Hast du Gottes Rat belauscht und alle Weisheit aufgesogen?
Hast thou heard the secret counsell of God, and doest thou restraine wisedome to thee?
9 Was weißt du, das wir nicht wüßten? Verstehst du mehr als wir?
What knowest thou that we knowe not? and vnderstandest that is not in vs?
10 Ergraute Häupter sind auch unter uns, Greise, die älter sind als dein Vater!
With vs are both auncient and very aged men, farre older then thy father.
11 Sind dir zu gering die Tröstungen Gottes, der so sanft mit dir geredet hat?
Seeme the consolations of God small vnto thee? is this thing strange vnto thee?
12 Was hat dir die Besinnung geraubt, und wie übermütig wirst du,
Why doeth thine heart take thee away, and what doe thine eyes meane,
13 daß du deinen Zorn gegen Gott auslässest und solche Worte ausstößt aus deinem Mund?
That thou answerest to God at thy pleasure, and bringest such wordes out of thy mouth?
14 Wie kann der Sterbliche denn rein, der vom Weibe Geborene gerecht sein?
What is man, that he should be cleane? and he that is borne of woman, that he shoulde be iust?
15 Siehe, seinen Heiligen traut er nicht, die Himmel sind nicht rein vor ihm.
Beholde, he founde no stedfastnesse in his Saintes: yea, the heauens are not cleane in his sight.
16 Wie sollte es denn der Abscheuliche, der Verdorbene, der Mensch sein, der Unrecht wie Wasser säuft?
How much more is man abominable, and filthie, which drinketh iniquitie like water?
17 Ich will dich unterweisen, höre mir zu, und was ich gesehen habe, will ich dir erzählen;
I will tell thee: heare me, and I will declare that which I haue seene:
18 was Weise verkündigten und nicht verhehlt haben von ihren Vätern her,
Which wise men haue tolde, as they haue heard of their fathers, and haue not kept it secret:
19 als noch ihnen allein das Land gehörte und noch kein Fremder zu ihnen herübergekommen war:
To whome alone the land was giuen and no stranger passed through them.
20 Der Gottlose quält sich sein Leben lang, all die Jahre, die dem Tyrannen bestimmt sind;
The wicked man is continually as one that traueileth of childe, and the nomber of yeeres is hid from the tyrant.
21 ein Schreckensgetön ist in seinen Ohren, und der Verderber überfällt ihn in seinem Glück.
A sounde of feare is in his eares, and in his prosperitie the destroyer shall come vpon him.
22 Er soll nicht glauben, daß er aus der Finsternis wiederkehren wird; ausersehen ist er für das Schwert!
He beleeueth not to returne out of darknesse: for he seeth the sworde before him.
23 Er irrt umher nach Brot: wo [findet er es]? Er weiß, daß ein finsterer Tag ihm nahe bevorsteht.
He wandreth to and from for bread where he may: he knoweth that the day of darkenesse is prepared at hande.
24 Not und Bedrängnis überfallen ihn, sie überwältigen ihn, wie ein König, der zum Streit gerüstet ist.
Affliction and anguish shall make him afraide: they shall preuaile against him as a King readie to the battell.
25 Denn er hat seine Hand gegen Gott ausgestreckt und sich gegen den Allmächtigen aufgelehnt;
For he hath stretched out his hand against GOD, and made him selfe strong against the Almightie.
26 er ist gegen ihn angelaufen mit erhobenem Haupt, unter dem dicken Buckel seiner Schilde;
Therefore God shall runne vpon him, euen vpon his necke, and against the most thicke part of his shielde.
27 sein Angesicht bedeckte sich mit Fett, und Schmer umhüllte seine Lenden;
Because he hath couered his face with his fatnesse, and hath colloppes in his flancke.
28 er schlug seine Wohnung in zerstörten Städten auf, in Häusern, die unbewohnt bleiben sollten, zu Trümmerhaufen bestimmt.
Though he dwell in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, but are become heapes,
29 Er wird nicht reich, sein Vermögen hat keinen Bestand, und sein Besitz breitet sich nicht aus im Land.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof in the earth.
30 Der Finsternis entgeht er nicht, die Flamme versengt seine Sprößlinge, vor dem Hauch Seines Mundes flieht er dahin.
He shall neuer depart out of darkenesse: the flame shall drie vp his branches, and he shall goe away with the breath of his mouth.
31 Er verlasse sich nicht auf Lügen, er ist betrogen; und Betrug wird seine Vergeltung sein.
He beleeueth not that he erreth in vanitie: therefore vanitie shalbe his change.
32 Ehe sein Tag kommt, ist sie reif; sein Zweig grünt nicht mehr.
His branch shall not be greene, but shall be cut off before his day.
33 Wie ein Weinstock, der seine Herlinge abstößt, und wie ein Ölbaum [ist er], der seine Blüten abwirft.
God shall destroy him as the vine her sower grape, and shall cast him off, as the oliue doeth her flowre.
34 Denn die Rotte der Ruchlosen ist unfruchtbar, und Feuer frißt die Zelte der Bestechung.
For the congregation of the hypocrite shalbe desolate, and fire shall deuoure the houses of bribes.
35 Mit Mühsal schwanger, gebären sie Eitles, und ihr Schoß bereitet Enttäuschung.
For they conceiue mischiefe and bring foorth vanitie, and their bellie hath prepared deceite.
