Jeremia 26

1 Im Anfang der Regierung Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, erging dieses Wort vom HERRN:

In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, hath this word been from Jehovah, saying:

2 So spricht der HERR: Stelle dich auf im Vorhof des Hauses des HERRN und rede zu allen Städten Judas, die da kommen, um anzubeten im Hause des HERRN, alle Worte, welche ich dir befohlen habe, ihnen zu sagen; tue kein Wort davon!

'Thus said Jehovah, Stand thou in the court of the house of Jehovah, and thou hast spoken unto all [those of] the cities of Judah who are coming in to bow themselves in the house of Jehovah, all the words that I have commanded thee to speak unto them, thou dost not diminish a word.

3 Vielleicht werden sie hören und sich abwenden, ein jeder von seinem bösen Wege, so will ich mich des Übels gereuen lassen, das ich ihnen zu tun gedenke um ihrer bösen Taten willen.

If so be they hearken, and turn back each from his evil way, then I have repented concerning the evil that I am thinking of doing to them, because of the evil of their doings.

4 Und zwar sollst du zu ihnen sagen: So spricht der HERR: Wenn ihr mir nicht gehorcht, daß ihr nach dem Gesetze wandelt, welches ich euch vorgelegt habe,

'And thou hast said unto them: Thus said Jehovah, If ye do not hearken unto Me, to walk in My law, that I set before you,

5 und nicht hört auf die Worte meiner Knechte, der Propheten, die ich zu euch sende, frühe und fleißig, auf die ihr aber nicht gehört habt,

To hearken to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I am sending unto you, yea, rising early and sending, and ye have not hearkened,

6 so will ich's mit diesem Hause wie mit dem zu Silo machen und diese Stadt zum Fluche allen Völkern der Erde!

Then I have given up this house as Shiloh, and this city I give up for a reviling to all nations of the earth.'

7 Es hörten aber die Priester und die Propheten und das ganze Volk, wie Jeremia diese Worte redete im Hause des HERRN.

And the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, hear Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of Jehovah,

8 Als nun Jeremia alles gesagt hatte, was ihm der HERR zum ganzen Volk zu reden befohlen hatte, griffen ihn die Priester, die Propheten und alles Volk und sprachen: Du mußt des Todes sterben!

And it cometh to pass, at the completion of Jeremiah's speaking all that Jehovah hath commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests, and the prophets, and all the people catch him, saying, Thou dost surely die,

9 Warum weissagst du im Namen des HERRN und sagst, es werde diesem Hause gehen wie Silo und diese Stadt werde wüste werden, ohne Bewohner? Und das ganze Volk sammelte sich um Jeremia im Hause des HERRN.

Wherefore hast thou prophesied in the name of Jehovah, saying, 'As Shiloh this house shall be, and this city is wasted, without inhabitant?' and all the people are assembled unto Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah.

10 Als aber die Fürsten von Juda diese Worte vernahmen, kamen sie vom königlichen Palast herauf zum Hause des HERRN und setzten sich nieder beim Eingang des neuen Tores des HERRN.

And the heads of Judah hear these things, and they go up from the house of the king [to] the house of Jehovah, and sit in the opening of the new gate of Jehovah.

11 Da sprachen die Priester und die Propheten zu den Fürsten und zum ganzen Volk: Dieser Mann ist des Todes schuldig, weil er wider diese Stadt geweissagt hat, wie ihr es mit eigenen Ohren gehört habt!

And the priests and the prophets speak unto the heads, and unto all the people, saying, 'Judgment of death [is] for this man, for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.'

12 Da sprach Jeremia zu den Fürsten und zum ganzen Volk: Der HERR hat mich gesandt, wider dieses Haus und wider diese Stadt alles das zu weissagen, was ihr gehört habt.

And Jeremiah speaketh unto all the heads, and unto all the people, saying, 'Jehovah sent me to prophesy concerning this house, and concerning this city, all the words that ye have heard;

13 Und nun bessert eure Wege und eure Taten und gehorcht der Stimme des HERRN, eures Gottes, so wird sich der HERR das Übel gereuen lassen, das er euch angedroht hat!

And now, amend your ways, and your doings, and hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God, and Jehovah doth repent concerning the evil that He hath spoken against you.

14 Doch seht, ich bin in euren Händen; tut mir, wie es euch gut und recht dünkt!

'And I, lo, I [am] in your hand, do to me as is good and as is right in your eyes;

15 Nur sollt ihr wissen, daß, wenn ihr mich tötet, ihr unschuldiges Blut auf euch und auf diese Stadt und auf ihre Bewohner ladet; denn wahrhaftig, der HERR hat mich zu euch gesandt, um vor euren Ohren alle diese Worte zu reden!

Only, know ye certainly, that if ye are putting me to death, surely innocent blood ye are putting on yourselves, and on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly hath Jehovah sent me unto you to speak in your ears all these words.'

16 Da sprachen die Fürsten und alles Volk zu den Priestern und zu den Propheten: Dieser Mann ist nicht des Todes schuldig; denn er hat im Namen des HERRN, unsres Gottes, zu uns geredet!

And the heads and all the people say unto the priests and unto the prophets, 'There is not for this man a judgment of death, for in the name of Jehovah our God he hath spoken unto us.'

17 Und es standen auch etliche Männer von den Ältesten des Landes auf und sprachen zur ganzen Gemeinde des Volkes:

And certain of the elders of the land rise up, and speak unto all the assembly of the people, saying,

18 Micha, der Moraschite, hat in den Tagen des Königs Hiskia von Juda geweissagt und zu dem ganzen jüdischen Volk gesagt: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Man wird Zion wie einen Acker pflügen, und Jerusalem soll zum Steinhaufen werden und der Berg des Hauses des HERRN zu einem bewaldeten Hügel!

'Micah the Morashtite hath been prophesying in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and he saith unto all the people of Judah, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Zion is a plowed field, and Jerusalem is heaps, And the mountain of the house is for high places of a forest.

19 Haben ihn auch Hiskia, der König von Juda, und ganz Juda deshalb getötet? Hat man nicht den HERRN gefürchtet und das Angesicht des HERRN angefleht, so daß sich der HERR das Übel gereuen ließ, das er ihnen angedroht hatte? Wir aber sollten ein so großes Unrecht wider unsere Seelen begehen?

'Put him at all to death did Hezekiah king of Judah, and all Judah? Did he not fear Jehovah? yea, he appeaseth the face of Jehovah, and Jehovah repenteth concerning the evil that He spake against them; and we are doing great evil against our souls.

20 Es war aber auch ein anderer Mann, der im Namen des HERRN weissagte, Urija, der Sohn Semajas von Kirjat-Jearim; der weissagte wider diese Stadt und wider dieses Land, ganz wie Jeremia.

'And also there hath been a man prophesying in the name of Jehovah, Urijah son of Shemaiah, of Kirjath-Jearim, and he prophesieth against this city, and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah,

21 Als aber der König Jojakim und alle seine Gewaltigen und alle seine Fürsten seine Worte vernahmen, suchte der König ihn zu töten; doch als es Urija hörte, fürchtete er sich und entfloh und entkam nach Ägypten.

And the king Jehoiakim, and all his mighty ones, and all the heads, hear his words, and the king seeketh to put him to death, and Urijah heareth, and feareth, and fleeth, and goeth in to Egypt.

22 Da sandte der König Jojakim Männer nach Ägypten, Elnatan, den Sohn Achbors, und mit ihm noch andere;

And the king Jehoiakim sendeth men to Egypt — Elnathan son of Achbor, and men with him unto Egypt —

23 die holten Urija aus Ägypten und brachten ihn zum König Jojakim; der erschlug ihn mit dem Schwert und warf seinen Leichnam in die Gräber des gemeinen Volkes.

And they bring out Urijah from Egypt, and bring him in unto the king Jehoiakim, and he smiteth him with a sword, and casteth his corpse unto the graves of the sons of the people.'

24 Doch war die Hand Achikams, des Sohnes Saphans, mit Jeremia, so daß er dem Volke nicht preisgegeben und nicht getötet wurde.

Only, the hand of Ahikam son of Shaphan hath been with Jeremiah so as not to give him up into the hand of the people to put him to death.
