Jeremia 21
1 Dies ist das Wort, welches vom HERRN an Jeremia erging, als der König Zedekia den Paschhur, den Sohn Malchijas, und Zephanja, den Sohn Maasejas, den Priester, zu ihm sandte und ihm sagen ließ:
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur, the son of Malchiah, and Zephaniah, the son of Maaseiah the priest, saying,
2 Frage doch den HERRN für uns, weil der babylonische König Nebukadnezar Krieg wider uns führt! Vielleicht wird der HERR gemäß allen seinen Wundern so mit uns handeln, daß jener von uns abzieht. Da sprach Jeremia zu ihnen:
Will you get directions from the Lord for us; for Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, is making war against us; it may be that the Lord will do something for us like all the wonders he has done, and make him go away from us.
3 Also sollt ihr dem Zedekia antworten:
Then Jeremiah said to them, This is what you are to say to Zedekiah:
4 So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will die Kriegswaffen in euren Händen, mit welchen ihr den babylonischen König und die Chaldäer, die euch belagern, außerhalb der Stadtmauern bekämpft, umwenden und mitten in der Stadt versammeln;
The Lord God of Israel has said, See, I am turning back the instruments of war in your hands, with which you are fighting against the king of Babylon and the Chaldaeans, who are outside the walls and shutting you in; and I will get them together inside this town.
5 und ich will selbst wider euch streiten mit ausgereckter Hand und mit starkem Arm, im Zorn und mit Grimm und mit großer Entrüstung,
And I myself will be fighting against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even with angry feeling and passion and in great wrath.
6 und will die Bewohner dieser Stadt schlagen, sowohl Menschen als Vieh, durch eine große Pest sollen sie umkommen.
And I will send a great disease on the people living in this town, on man and on beast, causing their death.
7 Und darnach, spricht der HERR, will ich Zedekia, den König von Juda, samt seinen Knechten und den Männern, die in dieser Stadt von der Pest, vom Schwert und von der Hungersnot verschont geblieben sind, in die Hand des babylonischen Königs Nebukadnezar und in die Hand ihrer Feinde und derer, die nach ihrem Leben trachten, übergeben, und er wird sie mit dem Schwerte schlagen und wird kein Mitleid mit ihnen haben und ihrer nicht schonen, noch sich ihrer erbarmen!
And after that, says the Lord, I will give up Zedekiah, king of Judah, and his servants and his people, even those in the town who have not come to their end from the disease and the sword and from need of food, into the hands of Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, and into the hands of their haters, and into the hands of those desiring their death: he will put them to the sword; he will not let anyone get away, he will have no pity or mercy.
8 Und zu diesem Volke sollst du sagen: So spricht der HERR: Sehet, ich lege euch vor den Weg des Lebens und den Weg des Todes:
And to this people you are to say, The Lord has said, See, I put before you the way of life and the way of death.
9 Wer in dieser Stadt bleibt, der wird entweder durchs Schwert, oder vor Hunger, oder an der Pest sterben; wer aber hinausgeht und zu den Chaldäern überläuft, die euch belagern, der wird leben und seine Seele als Beute davontragen.
He who keeps in this town will come to his death by the sword and through need of food and through disease; but he who goes out and gives himself up to the Chaldaeans who are shutting you in, will go on living, and will keep his life safe.
10 Denn ich habe mein Angesicht wider diese Stadt gerichtet zum Bösen und nicht zum Guten, spricht der HERR; in die Hände des babylonischen Königs wird sie gegeben und mit Feuer verbrannt werden.
For my face is turned to this town for evil and not for good, says the Lord: it will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will have it burned with fire.
11 Und zum Hause des Königs von Juda [sollst du sagen]: Höre das Wort des HERRN, du Haus Davids!
About the family of the king of Judah. Give ear to the word of the Lord;
12 So spricht der HERR: Haltet jeden Morgen ein gerechtes Gericht und rettet den Beraubten von der Hand des Unterdrückers, damit mein grimmiger Zorn nicht ausbreche wie ein Feuer und brenne, daß niemand löschen kann, wegen der Schlechtigkeit eurer Taten!
O family of David, this is what the Lord has said: Do what is right in the morning, and make free from the hands of the cruel one him whose goods have been violently taken away, or my wrath will go out like fire, burning so that no one may put it out, because of the evil of your doings.
13 Siehe, ich will an dich, du Bewohnerin des Tales, des Felsens der Ebene, spricht der HERR, die ihr saget: Wer wollte zu uns herabsteigen, und wer sollte in unsere Wohnungen kommen?
See, I am against you, you who are living on the rock of the valley, says the Lord; you who say, Who will come down against us? or who will get into our houses?
14 Ich will euch heimsuchen, wie es eure Taten verdienen, spricht der HERR, und will ein Feuer anzünden in ihrem Wald, das soll ihre ganze Umgebung verzehren.
I will send punishment on you in keeping with the fruit of your doings, says the Lord: and I will put a fire in her woodlands, burning up everything round about her.
