Jeremia 14
1 Das Wort des HERRN, welches an Jeremia erging betreffs der Dürre: Juda trauert,
The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
2 und seine Tore stehen kläglich da, liegen betrübt am Boden, und das Geschrei Jerusalems steigt empor.
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish, they sit in black upon the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
3 Ihre Mächtigen schicken ihre Geringen, Wasser zu holen; aber wenn sie zu den Brunnen kommen, finden sie kein Wasser, sondern bringen ihre Gefäße leer heim. Schamrot und zuschanden geworden, verhüllen sie ihre Häupter.
And their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the cisterns, and find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are put to shame and confounded, and cover their heads.
4 Weil das Erdreich zerrissen ist, darum daß kein Regen auf die Erde fällt, sehen sich die Landleute in ihrer Hoffnung getäuscht und bedecken ihre Häupter.
Because of the ground which is cracked, for that no rain hath been in the land, the plowmen are put to shame, they cover their heads.
5 Die Hindin im Felde verläßt das Junge, welches sie geboren hat, weil sie kein Kraut findet.
Yea, the hind also in the field calveth, and forsaketh [her young], because there is no grass.
6 Die Wildesel stehen auf den kahlen Höhen und schnappen nach Luft wie die Schakale; ihre Augen verschmachten aus Mangel an Gras.
And the wild asses stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.
7 Wenn unsere Missetaten wider uns zeugen, so handle du, o HERR, um deines Namens willen; denn unserer Abtrünnigkeiten sind viele, an dir haben wir gesündigt.
Though our iniquities testify against us, work thou for thy name’s sake, O Jehovah; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
8 Du Hoffnung Israels, sein Retter zur Zeit der Not: Warum willst du sein wie ein Fremdling im Lande und wie ein Wanderer, der nur zum Übernachten sein Zelt aufschlägt?
O thou hope of Israel, the Saviour thereof in the time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a sojourner in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night?
9 Warum wolltest du sein wie ein erschrockener Mann, wie ein Krieger, der nicht helfen kann? Und doch bist du, HERR, mitten unter uns, und wir tragen deinen Namen; darum verlasse uns nicht!
Why shouldest thou be as a man affrighted, as a mighty man that cannot save? Yet thou, O Jehovah, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
10 Also spricht der HERR von diesem Volk: So lieben sie es, herumzuschweifen, sie schonen ihre Füße nicht; deswegen mißfallen sie dem HERRN: jetzt aber gedenkt er ihrer Missetat und sucht ihre Sünde heim!
Thus saith Jehovah unto this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore Jehovah doth not accept them; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
11 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Du sollst für dieses Volk nicht bitten, daß es ihm gut gehe!
And Jehovah said unto me, Pray not for this people for [their] good.
12 Denn wenn sie schon fasten, so höre ich doch nicht auf ihr Flehen; und wenn sie schon Brandopfer und Speisopfer darbringen, so habe ich kein Wohlgefallen daran; sondern mit dem Schwerte, mit Hunger und Pestilenz will ich sie aufreiben.
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt-offering and meal-offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
13 Da antwortete ich: Ach, Herr, HERR! Siehe, die Propheten sagen ihnen: «Ihr werdet kein Schwert sehen und keinen Hunger leiden, sondern der HERR wird euch an diesem Ort beständigen Frieden geben!»
Then said I, Ah, Lord Jehovah! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
14 Da sprach der HERR zu mir: Lügen prophezeien diese Propheten in meinem Namen; ich habe sie nicht gesandt, ihnen nichts befohlen und nichts zu ihnen geredet; Lügengesichte und Wahrsagerei, Hirngespinste und Einbildungen ihres eigenen Herzens predigen sie euch.
Then Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake I unto them: they prophesy unto you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their own heart.
15 Darum spricht der HERR also wider die Propheten, die in meinem Namen weissagen: «Es wird weder Schwert noch Teuerung in diesem Lande sein»; durch Schwert und Hungersnot sollen diese Propheten ausgerottet werden!
Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
16 Das Volk aber, dem sie geweissagt haben, wird auf den Gassen zu Jerusalem niedergestreckt werden vom Hunger und Schwert; und niemand wird sein, der sie begräbt, sie und ihre Weiber, Söhne und Töchter; also will ich ihre Bosheit über sie ausschütten!
And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them—them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
17 Auch das sollst du ihnen sagen: Meine Augen zerfließen in Tränen Tag und Nacht, ohne Aufhören; denn schwer verwundet ist die Jungfrau, die Tochter meines Volkes, durch einen sehr gefährlichen Schlag.
And thou shalt say this word unto them, Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.
18 Gehe ich aufs Feld hinaus, siehe da, vom Schwert Erschlagene! Komme ich in die Stadt hinein, siehe da, vor Hunger Verschmachtete! Ja, auch ihre Propheten und Priester sind in ein Land gezogen, das sie nicht kannten.
If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then, behold, they that are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.
19 Hast du denn Juda so ganz verworfen? Ist Zion deiner Seele ein solcher Greuel? Warum hast du uns also geschlagen, daß keine Heilung mehr für uns zu hoffen ist? Wir warten auf Frieden, aber es kommt nichts Gutes; auf eine Zeit der Heilung, aber siehe da, Schrecken!
Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!
20 Wir erkennen, o HERR, unsere Bosheit und die Sünde unsrer Väter, daß wir wider dich gesündigt haben.
We acknowledge, O Jehovah, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
21 Verwirf uns nicht um deines Namens willen; schände nicht den Thron deiner Herrlichkeit; gedenke des Bundes, den du mit uns gemacht hast, und brich ihn nicht!
Do not abhor [us], for thy name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22 Sind etwa unter den Götzen der Heiden Regenspender? Oder kann der Himmel Regenschauer geben? Bist du es nicht, HERR, unser Gott? Und auf dich hoffen wir; denn du hast das alles gemacht!
Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O Jehovah our God? therefore we will wait for thee; for thou hast made all these things.
