Jakobus 5
1 Wohlan nun, ihr Reichen, weinet und heulet über das Elend, das über euch kommt!
Come now, ye rich men, weep and wail for your miseries that are coming upon you.
2 Euer Reichtum ist verfault und eure Kleider sind zum Mottenfraß geworden;
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are become moth-eaten;
3 euer Gold und Silber ist verrostet, und ihr Rost wird gegen euch Zeugnis ablegen und euer Fleisch fressen wie Feuer. Ihr habt Schätze gesammelt in den letzten Tagen!
your gold and silver is rusted, and the rust of them will be a witness against you, and will eat your flesh as fire; ye have heaped up treasure in the last days!
4 Siehe, der Lohn der Arbeiter, die euch die Felder abgemäht haben, der aber von euch zurückbehalten worden ist, schreit, und das Rufen der Schnitter ist zu den Ohren des Herrn der Heerscharen gekommen.
Behold, the hire of the laborers who reaped your fields, which is fraudulently kept back by you, crieth out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
5 Ihr habt geschwelgt und gepraßt auf Erden, ihr habt eure Herzen gemästet an einem Schlachttag!
Ye have lived in luxury on the earth, and have been given to pleasure; ye have pampered your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 Ihr habt den Gerechten verurteilt, ihn getötet; er hat euch nicht widerstanden.
Ye have condemned, ye have killed the just man; he doth not resist you.
7 So geduldet euch nun, ihr Brüder, bis zur Wiederkunft des Herrn! Siehe, der Landmann wartet auf die köstliche Frucht der Erde und geduldet sich ihretwegen, bis sie den Früh und Spätregen empfangen hat.
Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and is patient about it, until it hath received the early and latter rain.
8 Geduldet auch ihr euch, stärket eure Herzen; denn die Wiederkunft des Herrn ist nahe!
Be ye also patient, establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Seufzet nicht widereinander, Brüder, damit ihr nicht gerichtet werdet; siehe, der Richter steht vor der Tür!
Murmur not against each other, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the Judge standeth before the door.
10 Nehmet, Brüder, zum Vorbild des Unrechtleidens und der Geduld die Propheten, die im Namen des Herrn geredet haben.
Take, brethren, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, for an example of affliction, and of patience.
11 Siehe, wir preisen die selig, welche ausgeharrt haben. Von Hiobs Geduld habt ihr gehört, und das Ende des Herrn habt ihr gesehen; denn der Herr ist voll Mitleid und Erbarmen.
Behold, we count those happy who have endured. Ye have heard of the patience of Job; behold also the end of the Lord, that he is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12 Vor allem aber, meine Brüder, schwöret nicht, weder bei dem Himmel noch bei der Erde noch mit irgend einem anderen Eid; euer Ja soll ein Ja sein, und euer Nein ein Nein, damit ihr nicht unter das Gericht fallet.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not; neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under condemnation.
13 Leidet jemand von euch Unrecht, der bete; ist jemand guten Mutes, der singe Psalmen!
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
14 Ist jemand von euch krank, der lasse die Ältesten der Gemeinde zu sich rufen; und sie sollen über ihn beten und ihn dabei mit Öl salben im Namen des Herrn.
Is any sick among you? let him call to him the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 Und das Gebet des Glaubens wird den Kranken retten, und der Herr wird ihn aufrichten; und wenn er Sünden begangen hat, so wird ihm vergeben werden.
And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; even if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
16 So bekennet denn einander die Sünden und betet füreinander, damit ihr geheilt werdet! Das Gebet eines Gerechten vermag viel, wenn es ernstlich ist.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elia war ein Mensch von gleicher Art wie wir, und er betete ein Gebet, daß es nicht regnen solle, und es regnete nicht im Lande, drei Jahre und sechs Monate;
Elijah was a man of like nature with us, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months;
18 und er betete wiederum; da gab der Himmel Regen, und die Erde brachte ihre Frucht.
and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Meine Brüder, wenn jemand unter euch von der Wahrheit abirrt und es bekehrt ihn einer,
Brethren, if any one among you be led astray from the truth, and one convert him,
20 so soll er wissen: wer einen Sünder von seinem Irrweg bekehrt, der wird seine Seele vom Tode retten und eine Menge Sünden zudecken.
let him know that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
