Hosea 13
1 Wenn Ephraim redete, herrschte Schrecken; groß stand er da in Israel; als er sich aber mit dem Baal versündigte, fing er an zu sterben.
When Ephraim spake, there was trembling; he exalted himself in Israel: but when he offended in Baal, he died.
2 Und nun fahren sie fort zu sündigen und gießen sich Bilder aus ihrem Silber, Götzen nach ihrer Erfindung, allesamt ein Machwerk von Künstlern; von ihnen sagen sie, die opfernden Menschen: «Man soll die Kälber küssen!»
And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, even idols according to their own understanding, all of them the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.
3 Darum werden sie sein wie eine Morgenwolke und wie der Tau, der früh vergeht, wie die Spreu, die von der Tenne verweht wird, und wie der Rauch aus dem Kamin!
Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the dew that passeth early away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.
4 Ich aber bin der HERR, dein Gott, vom Lande Ägypten her, und außer mir kennst du keinen Gott, und es gibt keinen Retter als mich allein!
Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt; and thou shalt know no god but me, and beside me there is no saviour.
5 Ich nahm deiner wahr in der Wüste, im dürren Land.
I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
6 Als sie aber Weide fanden, wurden sie satt; und als sie satt wurden, erhob sich ihr Herz; darum vergaßen sie mich.
According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted: therefore have they forgotten me.
7 Da ward ich gegen sie wie ein Löwe und lauerte wie ein Panther am Wege;
Therefore am I unto them as a lion: as a leopard will I watch by the way:
8 ich überfiel sie wie eine Bärin, der man die Jungen geraubt, und zerriß ihnen den Brustkasten und fraß sie daselbst wie ein Löwe; wie ein wildes Tier zerriß ich sie.
I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart: and there will I devour them like a lion; the wild beast shall tear them.
9 Das ist dein Verderben, Israel, daß du gegen mich, deine Hilfe, bist!
It is thy destruction, O Israel, that [thou art] against me, against thy help.
10 Wo ist denn nun dein König, daß er dir helfe in allen deinen Städten, und wo sind deine Richter? Denn du hast ja gesagt: «Gib mir einen König und Fürsten!»
Where now is thy king, that he may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges, of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?
11 Ich gab dir einen König in meinem Zorn und nehme ihn weg in meinem Grimm!
I have given thee a king in mine anger, and have taken him away in my wrath.
12 Ephraims Schuld ist zusammengebunden, seine Sünde ist aufbehalten.
The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is laid up in store.
13 Geburtswehen werden ihn ankommen; er ist ein unverständiges Kind; denn zur rechten Zeit stellt er sich nicht ein zur Geburt!
The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for it is time he should not tarry in the place of the breaking forth of children.
14 Ich will sie erlösen aus der Gewalt des Totenreichs, vom Tode will ich sie loskaufen. Tod, wo ist dein Verderben? Totenreich, wo ist dein Sieg? Mitleid muß verschwinden vor mir! (Sheol h7585)
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, where are thy plagues? O grave, where is thy destruction? repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. (Sheol h7585)
15 Denn sollte er auch Frucht tragen unter den Brüdern, so wird ein Ostwind kommen, ein Wind des HERRN von der Wüste herauf, so daß sein Brunnen vertrocknet und sein Quell versiegt. Er wird den Schatz aller kostbaren Geräte berauben.
Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the breath of the LORD coming up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.
16 Samaria muß es büßen; denn es hat sich wider seinen Gott empört; durchs Schwert sollen sie fallen; ihre Kindlein sollen zerschmettert und die Schwangeren aufgeschlitzt werden!
Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
