1 Dies ist das Buch von Adams Geschlecht: Am Tage, da Gott den Menschen schuf, machte er ihn Gott ähnlich;
Here is a list of the descendants of Adam. When God created humans, he caused them to be like him in many ways.
2 männlich und weiblich schuf er sie und segnete sie und nannte ihren Namen Adam, am Tage, da er sie schuf.
He created one man and one woman. He blessed them, and on the day that he created them, he called them ‘human beings’.
3 Und Adam war 130 Jahre alt, als er einen Sohn zeugte, ihm selbst gleich, nach seinem Bilde, und nannte ihn Seth.
When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father of a son who [grew up to] be just like him. That was the son he named Seth.
4 Und nachdem er den Seth gezeugt, lebte Adam noch 800 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 more years, and during those years he became the father of other sons and daughters.
5 also daß Adams ganzes Alter 930 Jahre betrug, als er starb.
Adam lived 930 years altogether, and then he died.
6 Seth war 105 Jahre alt, als er den Enosch zeugte;
When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.
7 und Seth, nachdem er den Enosch gezeugt, lebte 807 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
After Enosh was born, Seth lived 807 more years, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
8 also daß Seths ganzes Alter 912 Jahre betrug, als er starb.
Seth lived 912 years altogether, and then he died.
9 Enosch war 90 Jahre alt, als er den Kenan zeugte;
When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.
10 und Enosch, nachdem er den Kenan gezeugt, lebte 815 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
After Kenan was born, Enosh lived 815 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
11 also daß Enoschs ganzes Alter 905 Jahre betrug, als er starb.
Enosh lived 905 years altogether, and then he died.
12 Kenan war 70 Jahre alt, als er den Mahalaleel zeugte;
When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.
13 und Kenan, nachdem er den Mahalaleel gezeugt, lebte 840 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
After Mahalalel was born, Kenan lived 840 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
14 also daß Kenans ganzes Alter 910 Jahre betrug, da er starb.
Kenan lived 910 years altogether, and then he died.
15 Mahalaleel war 65 Jahre alt, als er den Jared zeugte;
When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.
16 und Mahalaleel, nachdem er den Jared gezeugt, lebte 830 Jahre und hat Söhne und Töchter gezeugt;
After Jared was born, Mahalalel lived 830 more years and became the father of other sons and daughters.
17 also daß Mahalaleels ganzes Alter 895 Jahre betrug, als er starb.
Mahalalel lived 895 years altogether, and then he died.
18 Jared war 162 Jahre alt, als er den Henoch zeugte;
When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.
19 und Jared, nachdem er den Henoch gezeugt, lebte 800 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
Jared lived 800 years after Enoch was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
20 also daß Jareds ganzes Alter 962 Jahre betrug, da er starb.
Jared lived 962 years altogether, and then he died.
21 Henoch war 65 Jahre alt, als er den Methusalah zeugte;
When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.
22 und Henoch, nachdem er den Methusalah gezeugt, wandelte er mit Gott 300 Jahre lang und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for 300 years after Methuselah was born, and he became the father of other sons and daughters.
23 also daß Henochs ganzes Alter 365 Jahre betrug.
Enoch lived 365 years altogether in close fellowship with God.
24 Und Henoch wandelte mit Gott und war nicht mehr, weil Gott ihn zu sich genommen hatte.
Then one day he disappeared, because God took him away [to be with him in heaven].
25 Methusalah war 187 Jahre alt, als er den Lamech zeugte;
When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.
26 und Methusalah, nachdem er den Lamech gezeugt, lebte 782 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
Methuselah lived 782 years after Lamech was born, and became the father of other sons and daughters.
27 also daß Methusalahs ganzes Alter 969 Jahre betrug, da er starb.
Methuselah lived 969 years altogether, and then he died.
28 Lamech war 182 Jahre alt, als er einen Sohn zeugte;
When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son,
29 den nannte er Noah, indem er sprach: Der wird uns trösten ob unserer Hände Arbeit und Mühe, die herrührt von dem Erdboden, den der HERR verflucht hat!
whom he named Noah, [which sounds like the Hebrew word that means ‘relief’], because he said, “He will bring us relief from all the hard work we have been doing to produce food from the ground that Yahweh cursed.”
30 Und Lamech, nachdem er den Noah gezeugt, lebte 590 Jahre lang und zeugte Söhne und Töchter;
Lamech lived 595 years after Noah was born and became the father of other sons and daughters.
31 also daß Lamechs ganzes Alter 772 Jahre betrug, da er starb.
Lamech lived 777 years altogether, and then he died.
32 Und Noah war 500 Jahre alt, da er den Sem, Ham und Japhet zeugte.
When Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of a son whom he named Shem. Later he became the father of another son whom he named Ham, and later he became the father of another son whom he named Japheth.
