Galater 1
1 Paulus, Apostel, nicht von Menschen, auch nicht durch einen Menschen, sondern durch Jesus Christus und Gott, den Vater, der ihn auferweckt hat von den Toten;
Paul, an apostle, not from men, nor through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead, —
2 und alle Brüder, die mit mir sind, an die Gemeinden in Galatien:
and all the brethren that are with me, to the churches of Galatia:
3 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, dem Vater und unsrem Herrn Jesus Christus,
Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 der sich selbst für unsere Sünden gegeben hat, damit er uns herausrette aus dem gegenwärtigen argen Weltlauf, nach dem Willen Gottes und unsres Vaters, (aiōn g165)
who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from the present evil world, according to the will of God our Father; (aiōn g165)
to whom be the glory for ever and ever! Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Mich wundert, daß ihr so schnell übergehet von dem, der euch durch Christi Gnade berufen hat, zu einem anderen Evangelium, so es doch kein anderes gibt;
I marvel that ye are so soon turning from him that called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel;
7 nur sind etliche da, die euch verwirren und das Evangelium Christi verdrehen wollen.
which is not another; only there are certain persons who are troubling you, and seeking to change entirely the gospel of Christ.
8 Aber wenn auch wir oder ein Engel vom Himmel euch etwas anderes als Evangelium predigen würde außer dem, was wir euch verkündigt haben, der sei verflucht!
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel to you contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed!
9 Wie wir zuvor gesagt haben, so sage ich auch jetzt wiederum: Wenn jemand euch etwas anderes als Evangelium predigt außer dem, das ihr empfangen habt, der sei verflucht!
As we have said before, so I now say again, If any one preach a gospel to you contrary to that which ye received, let him be accursed!
10 Rede ich denn jetzt Menschen oder Gott zuliebe? Oder suche ich Menschen zu gefallen? Wenn ich noch Menschen gefiele, so wäre ich nicht Christi Knecht.
For do I now seek the favor of men, or of God? Or am I endeavoring to please men? If I were still pleasing men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 Ich tue euch aber kund, Brüder, daß das von mir gepredigte Evangelium nicht von Menschen stammt;
But I assure you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not after man;
12 ich habe es auch nicht von einem Menschen empfangen noch gelernt, sondern durch eine Offenbarung Jesu Christi.
for I did not receive it from man nor was I taught it by any man, but it was revealed to me by Jesus Christ.
13 Denn ihr habt von meinem ehemaligen Wandel im Judentum gehört, daß ich die Gemeinde Gottes über die Maßen verfolgte und sie zerstörte
For ye have heard of my conduct formerly in Judaism; that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and was destroying it,
14 und im Judentum viele meiner Altersgenossen in meinem Volk übertraf durch übermäßigen Eifer für die Überlieferungen meiner Väter.
and made progress in Judaism beyond many of the same age with me in my nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 Als es aber Gott, der mich von meiner Mutter Leib an ausgesondert und durch seine Gnade berufen hat, wohlgefiel,
But when it pleased him who set me apart from my very birth, and called me through his grace,
16 seinen Sohn in mir zu offenbaren, damit ich ihn durch das Evangelium unter den Heiden verkündige, ging ich alsbald nicht mit Fleisch und Blut zu Rate,
to reveal his Son within me, that I might publish the glad tidings of him among the gentiles, immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood,
17 zog auch nicht nach Jerusalem hinauf zu denen, die vor mir Apostel waren, sondern ging weg nach Arabien und kehrte wieder nach Damaskus zurück.
neither did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.
18 Darauf, nach drei Jahren, zog ich nach Jerusalem hinauf, um Petrus kennen zu lernen, und blieb fünfzehn Tage bei ihm.
Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to become acquainted with Cephas, and stayed with him fifteen days;
19 Ich sah aber keinen der andern Apostel, außer Jakobus, den Bruder des Herrn.
but no other of the apostles did I see, save James the brother of the Lord.
20 Was ich euch aber schreibe, siehe, vor Gottes Angesicht: ich lüge nicht!
Now as to what I am writing to you, behold, before God, I do not lie.
21 Darauf kam ich in die Gegenden von Syrien und Cilicien.
Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 Ich war aber den Gemeinden von Judäa, die in Christus sind, von Angesicht unbekannt.
and I was unknown by face to the churches of Judaea which were in Christ;
23 Sie hatten nur gehört: der, welcher uns einst verfolgte, predigt jetzt als Evangelium den Glauben, welchen er einst zerstörte!
but they were only hearing that “He who was once our persecutor is now preaching the faith which he was once destroying”;
24 Und sie priesen Gott meinethalben.
and they glorified God in me.
