Esra 10
1 Während nun Esra also betete und sein Bekenntnis ablegte, weinte und vor dem Hause Gottes lag, versammelte sich zu ihm aus Israel eine sehr große Gemeinde von Männern, Frauen und Kindern; denn das Volk weinte sehr.
So when Esdras [had] prayed, and when he [had] confessed, weeping and praying before the house of God, a very great assembly of Israel came together to him, men and women and youths; for the people wept, and wept aloud.
2 Und Sechanja, der Sohn Jechiels, aus den Kindern Elams, antwortete und sprach zu Esra: Wir haben uns an unserm Gott versündigt, daß wir fremde Frauen aus den Völkern des Landes heimgeführt haben. Nun aber ist noch Hoffnung für Israel!
And Sechenias the son of Jeel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Esdras, We have broken covenant with our God, and have taken strange wives of the nations of the land: yet now there is patience [of hope] to Israel concerning this thing.
3 Lasset uns nun einen Bund mit unserm Gott machen, daß wir alle Frauen und die von ihnen geboren sind, hinaustun nach dem Rat meines Herrn und derer, welche das Gebot unsres Gottes fürchten, daß man tue nach dem Gesetz.
Now then let us make a covenant with our God, to put away all the wives, and their offspring, as thou shalt advise:
4 Mache dich auf; dir liegt die Sache ob, wir wollen dir beistehen; führe es mutig aus!
arise, and alarm them with the commands of our God; and let [it] be done according to the law. Rise up, for the matter [is] upon thee; and we [are] with thee: be strong and do.
5 Da stand Esra auf und nahm einen Eid von den obersten Priestern, von den Leviten und von ganz Israel, daß sie nach diesem Wort tun wollten. Und sie schwuren.
Then Esdras arose, and caused the rulers, the priests, and Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word: and they swore.
6 Und Esra stand auf vor dem Hause und ging in die Kammer Johanans, des Sohnes Eljaschibs. Er ging dort hinein und aß kein Brot und trank kein Wasser; denn er trug Leid wegen der Übertretung derer, die gefangen gewesen.
And Esdras rose up from before the house of God, and went to the treasury of Joanan the son of Elisub; he even went thither: he ate no bread, and drank no water; for he mourned over the unfaithfulness [of them] of the captivity.
7 Und man ließ in Juda und Jerusalem ausrufen, daß alle, die gefangen gewesen, sich nach Jerusalem versammeln sollten,
And they made proclamation throughout Juda and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should assemble at Jerusalem, [saying],
8 und wer innert drei Tagen gemäß dem Rat der Obersten und Ältesten nicht kommen würde, dessen ganze Habe solle mit dem Bann belegt und er selbst aus der Gemeinde der aus der Gefangenschaft [Zurückgekehrten] ausgeschlossen werden.
Every one who shall not arrive within three days, as [is] the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his substance shall be forfeited, and he shall be separated from the congregation of the captivity.
9 Da versammelten sich alle Männer von Juda und Benjamin in Jerusalem auf den dritten Tag, das war der zwanzigste Tag des neunten Monats. Und alles Volk saß auf dem Platze vor dem Hause Gottes, zitternd um der Sache willen und wegen des Regens.
So all the men of Juda and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within the three days. This [was] the ninth month: on the twentieth day of the month all the people sat down in the street of the house of the Lord, because of their alarm concerning the word, and because of the storm.
10 Und Esra, der Priester, stand auf und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr habt euch versündigt und habt fremde Frauen heimgeführt, womit ihr die Schuld Israels noch größer machtet.
And Esdras the priest arose, and said to them, Ye have broken covenant, and have taken strange wives, to add to the trespass of Israel.
11 So leget nun dem HERRN, dem Gott eurer Väter, ein Bekenntnis ab und tut, was ihm wohlgefällig ist, und scheidet euch von den Völkern des Landes und von den fremden Frauen!
Now therefore give praise to the Lord God of our fathers, and do that which is pleasing in his sight: and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the strange wives.
12 Da antwortete die ganze Gemeinde und sprach mit lauter Stimme: Es soll geschehen, wie du uns gesagt hast!
Then all the congregation answered and said, This thy word [is] powerful upon us to do it.
13 Aber des Volkes ist viel, und es ist Regenwetter, und man kann nicht hier draußen stehen; und es ist auch nicht ein Werk von einem oder zwei Tagen, denn wir haben der Übertretung zu viel gemacht.
But the people [is] numerous, and the season [is] stormy, and there is no power to stand without, and the work is more than enough for one day or for two; for we have greatly sinned in this matter.
14 Laßt doch unsere Obersten für die ganze Gemeinde einstehen; und alle, die in unsern Städten fremde Frauen heimgeführt haben, sollen zu bestimmten Zeiten kommen, und mit ihnen die Ältesten einer jeden Stadt und deren Richter, bis der Zorn unsres Gottes um dieser Sache willen von uns abgewandt wird.
Let now our rulers stand, and for all those in our cities who have taken strange wives, let them come at appointed times, and with them elders from every several city, and judges, to turn away the fierce wrath of our God from us concerning this matter.
15 Nur Jonatan, der Sohn Asahels, und Jehasia, der Sohn Tikwas, standen dagegen auf, und Mesullam und Sabbetai, der Levit, unterstützten sie.
Only Jonathan the son of Asael, and Jazias the son of Thecoe [were] with me concerning this; and Mesollam, and Sabbathai the Levite helped them.
16 Und die Kinder der Gefangenschaft taten also: der Priester Esra sonderte sich Männer aus, die Familienhäupter ihrer Stammhäuser, und diese alle mit Namen bezeichnet, die setzten sich am ersten Tage des zehnten Monats zur Untersuchung der Angelegenheit.
And the children of the captivity did thus: and Esdras the priest, and heads of families according to [their] house were separated, and all by their names, for they returned in the first day of the tenth month to search out the matter.
17 Und sie erledigten die ganze Angelegenheit der Männer, die fremde Frauen heimgeführt hatten, bis zum ersten Tag des ersten Monats.
And they made an end with all the men who had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18 Und es wurden unter den Söhnen der Priester, die fremde Frauen heimgeführt hatten, gefunden: von den Söhnen Jesuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, und seinen Brüdern: Maaseja, Elieser, Jarib und Gedalja;
And there were found [some] of the sons of the priests who had taken strange wives: of the sons of Jesus the son of Josedec, and his brethren; Maasia, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gadalia.
19 die gaben ihre Hand darauf, daß sie ihre Frauen ausstoßen wollten, und sie bekannten die Schuld und [opferten] einen Schafbock für ihre Schuld.
And they pledged themselves to put away their wives, and [offered] a ram of the flock for a trespass-offering because of their trespass.
20 Von den Söhnen Immers: Hanani und Sebadja.
And of the sons of Emmer; Anani, and Zabdia.
21 Von den Söhnen Harims: Maaseja, Elia, Semaja, Jehiel und Usija.
And of the sons of Eram; Masael, and Elia, and Samaia, and Jeel, and Ozia.
22 von den Söhnen Pashurs: Eljeonai, Maaseja, Ismael, Netaneel, Josabad und Eleasar.
And of the sons of Phasur; Elionai, Maasia, and Ismael, and Nathanael, and Jozabad, and Elasa.
23 Von den Leviten: Josabad, Simei, Kelajah, Petachia, Juda und Elieser.
And of the Levites; Jozabad, and Samu, and Colia (he [is] Colitas, ) and Phetheia, and Judas, and Eliezer.
24 Von den Sängern: Eliaschib. Von den Torhütern: Sallum, Telem und Uri.
And of the singers; Elisab: and of the porters; Solmen, and Telmen, and Oduth.
25 Und von Israel: Von den Söhnen Parhos: Ramja, Jischja, Malchija, Mijamin, Eleaser, Malchija und Benaja.
Also of Israel: of the sons of Phoros; Ramia, and Azia, and Melchia, and Meamin, and Eleazar, and Asabia, and Banaia.
26 Von den Söhnen Elams: Mattanja, Sacharja, Jechiel, Abdi, Jeremot und Elia.
And of the sons of Helam; Matthania, and Zacharia, and Jaiel, and Abdia, and Jarimoth, and Elia.
27 Von den Söhnen Sattus: Eljoenai, Eljaschib, Mattanja, Jeremot, Sabad und Asisa.
And of the sons of Zathua; Elionai, Elisub, Matthanai, and Armoth, and Zabad, and Oziza.
28 Von den Söhnen Bebais: Johanan, Hananja, Sabbai, Atlai.
And of the sons of Babei; Joanan, Anania, and Zabu, and Thali.
29 Von den Söhnen Banis: Mesullam, Mallach, Adaja, Jaschub, Scheal und Jeramot.
And of the sons of Banui; Mosollam, Maluch, Adaias, Jasub, and Saluia, and Remoth.
30 Von den Söhnen Pachat-Moabs: Adna, Kelal, Benaja, Maaseja, Mattanja, Bezaleel, Binnui und Manasse.
And of the sons of Phaath Moab; Edne, and Chalel, and Banaia, Maasia, Matthania, Beseleel, and Banui, and Manasse.
31 Von den Söhnen Harims: Elieser, Jischja, Malchija, Semaja, Simeon,
And of the sons of Eram; Eliezer, Jesia, Melchia, Samaias, Semeon,
32 Benjamin, Mallach, Semarja.
Benjamin, Baluch, Samaria.
33 Von den Söhnen Hasums: Mattenai, Mattatta, Sabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasse, Simei.
And of the sons of Asem; Metthania, Matthatha, Zadab, Eliphalet, Jerami, Manasse, Semei.
34 Von den Söhnen Banis: Mahadai, Amram und Uel,
And of the sons of Bani; Moodia, Amram, Uel,
35 Benaja, Bedja, Keluhu,
Banaia, Badaia, Chelkia,
36 Vanja, Meremot, Eljaschib.
Uvania, Marimoth, Eliasiph,
37 Mattanja, Mattenai, Jahasai,
Matthania, Matthanai:
38 Bani, Binnui, Simei,
and [so] did the children of Banui, and the children of Semei,
39 Selemja, Natan, Adaja,
and Selemia, and Nathan, and Adaia,
40 Machnadbai, Sasai, Sarai,
Machadnabu, Sesei, Sariu,
41 Asareel, Selemja, Semarja,
Ezriel, and Selemia, and Samaria,
42 Sallum, Amarja, Joseph.
and Sellum, Amaria, Joseph.
43 Von den Söhnen Nebos: Jechiel, Mattitja, Sabad, Sebina, Jaddai, Joel, Benaja.
Of the sons of Nabu; Jael, Matthanias, Zabad, Zebennas, Jadai, and Joel, and Banaia.
44 Diese alle hatten fremde Frauen genommen; und unter diesen Frauen waren etliche, welche Kinder geboren hatten.
All these had taken strange wives, and had begotten sons of them.
