Hesekiel 4

1 Und du, Menschensohn, nimm einen Ziegelstein, lege ihn vor dich und entwirf darauf die Stadt Jerusalem.

Thou therefore O son of man Take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, —and portray thereon a city, even Jerusalem.

2 Und veranstalte eine Belagerung gegen sie und baue einen Belagerungsturm wider sie und schütte einen Wall wider sie auf und stelle Kriegslager wider sie auf und Sturmböcke rings um sie her.

Then shalt thou lay siege against it And build up against it a siege-wall And cast up against it, a mound, — And set against it camps, And place against it battering-rams, round about.

3 Und du, nimm dir eine eiserne Pfanne und stelle sie wie eine eiserne Mauer zwischen dich und die Stadt und richte dein Angesicht gegen sie, daß sie in Belagerungszustand komme, und du sollst sie belagern. Das soll dem Hause Israel ein Zeichen sein.

Thou, therefore take thee a pan of iron, and set it for a wall of iron, between thee and the city, —then shalt thou direct thy face against it and it shall come into siege and thou shalt lay siege to it, a sign, shall it be to the house of Israel.

4 Du aber lege dich auf deine linke Seite und lege die Missetat des Hauses Israel darauf. Solange du darauf liegst, sollst du ihre Missetat tragen.

Thou, therefore lie thou on thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it, — during the number of the days which thou shalt lie thereon, shalt thou bear their punishment.

5 Ich aber habe dir die Jahre ihrer Missetat in ebenso viele Tage verwandelt, nämlich 390 Tage lang sollst du die Missetat des Hauses Israel tragen.

I therefore have appointed thee the years of their punishment, by the number of days a hundred and ninety days, —so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

6 Wenn du aber diese Tage vollendet hast, so lege dich das zweitemal auf deine rechte Seite und trage die Missetat des Hauses Juda vierzig Tage lang; je einen Tag will ich dir für ein Jahr auflegen.

And when thou hast ended these, then shalt thou lie, on thy right side. a second time, and shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah, — forty days, one day for each year, have I appointed thee.

7 So richte nun dein Angesicht und deinen entblößten Arm zur Belagerung Jerusalems und weissage wider sie.

Thus then unto the siege of Jerusalem, shalt thou direct thy face, with thine arm made bare, —so shalt thou prophesy against it.

8 Und siehe, ich will dir Stricke anlegen, daß du dich nicht von einer Seite auf die andere wenden kannst, bis du die Tage deiner Belagerung vollendet hast.

And lo! I have laid upon thee-bands, —and thou shalt not turn thee from thy one side to thine other, until thou have ended the days of thy siege.

9 Nimm dir auch Weizen und Gerste, Bohnen und Linsen, Hirse und Spelt und tue sie in ein einziges Geschirr und bereite deine Speise daraus, solange du auf der Seite liegen mußt; 390 Tage lang sollst du davon essen.

Thou, therefore, take thee wheat and barley and peas and lentils and millet and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make them ready for thee as bread, —during the number of days which thou art lying on thy side. a hundred and ninety days, shalt thou eat it;

10 Und zwar sollst du diese Speise nach dem Gewicht essen, zwanzig Schekel täglich; von Zeit zu Zeit sollst du davon essen.

and thy food which thou shalt eat shall be by weight twenty shekels a day, — from time to time, shalt thou eat it;

11 Du sollst auch das Wasser nach dem Maß trinken, nämlich ein Sechstel Hin; das sollst du von Zeit zu Zeit trinken.

and water by measure, shalt thou drink the sixth part of a hin, -from time to time shalt thou drink;

12 Und zwar sollst du es [die Speise] in Form von Gerstenbrot essen; das sollst du mit Menschenkot backen, vor ihren Augen.

and as a barley cake, shalt thou eat it, —and the same with dung proceeding from man, shalt thou bake, before their eyes.

13 Und der HERR sprach: Also müssen die Kinder Israel ihr Brot unrein essen unter den Heiden, unter welche ich sie verstoßen will!

Then said Yahweh, In like manner, shall the sons of Israel eat their bread defiled, —among the nations whither I will drive them.

14 Da sprach ich: Ach, Herr, HERR, siehe, meine Seele ist noch niemals befleckt worden; denn von meiner Jugend an bis auf diese Stunde habe ich niemals von einem Aas oder Zerrissenen gegessen; auch ist niemals verdorbenes Fleisch in meinen Mund gekommen.

Then said, I, Ah! My Lord. Yahweh, lo! my person, hath not been defiled: neither of what hath died of itself nor of what hath been torn in pieces: have I eaten, from my youthful days even unto now, neither hath come into my mouth the flesh of a foul thing.

15 Hierauf antwortete er mir und sprach: Nun wohlan, ich will dir gestatten, daß du Kuhmist anstatt Menschenkot nehmest und darauf dein Brot bereitest!

So then he said unto me, See I have granted thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, —and thou shalt prepare thy bread thereupon.

16 Ferner sprach er zu mir: Menschensohn, siehe, ich will in Jerusalem den Stab des Brotes brechen, so daß sie nach dem Gewicht und mit Kummer Brot essen und nach dem Maß und mit Entsetzen Wasser trinken sollen,

And he said unto me, Son of man Behold me! breaking the staff of bread in Jerusalem, So shall they eat bread by weight and with anxious care, And water by measure, and in astonishment, shall they drink:

17 damit sie an Brot und Wasser Mangel haben und sich entsetzen, einer wie der andere, und wegen ihrer Missetat verschmachten.

that they may lack bread and water and be astonished one with another, and pine away in their punishment.
