Hesekiel 21

1 das Wort des HERRN erging an mich also:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

2 schensohn, richte dein Angesicht gegen Jerusalem und rede wider die Heiligtümer und weissage wider das Land Israel. Und sage zu dem Lande Israel:

'Son of man, set thy face unto Jerusalem, and prophesy unto the holy places, and prophesy unto the ground of Israel;

3 spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will an dich; ich will mein Schwert aus seiner Scheide ziehen und Gerechte und Gottlose in dir ausrotten.

and thou hast said unto the ground of Israel: Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I [am] against thee, And have brought out My sword from its scabbard, And have cut off from thee righteous and wicked.

4 l ich nun Gerechte und Gottlose in dir ausrotten will, so soll mein Schwert aus seiner Scheide fahren wider alles Fleisch, vom Süden bis zum Norden.

Because that I have cut off from thee righteous and wicked, Therefore go out doth My sword from its scabbard, Unto all flesh, from south to north.

5 alles Fleisch soll erfahren, daß ich, der HERR, mein Schwert aus seiner Scheide gezogen habe, und es soll nicht mehr eingesteckt werden!

And known have all flesh that I, Jehovah, Have brought out My sword from its scabbard, It doth not turn back any more.

6 du, Menschensohn, seufze, als hättest du einen Lendenbruch, ja, seufze bitterlich vor ihren Augen!

And thou, son of man, sigh with breaking of loins, yea, with bitterness thou dost sigh before their eyes,

7 wenn sie dich fragen werden: «Warum seufzest du?» so sprich: Über eine Kunde! Wenn die eintrifft, so werden alle Herzen verzagen, alle Hände sinken, aller Mut schwinden und alle Knie wie Wasser vergehen. Siehe, es wird kommen und geschehen, spricht Gott, der HERR!

and it hath come to pass, when they say unto thee, For what art thou sighing? that thou hast said: Because of the report, for it is coming, And melted hath every heart, And feeble hath been all hands, And weak is every spirit, And all knees go — waters, Lo, it is coming, yea, it hath been, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

8 rmal erging das Wort des HERRN an mich also:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

9 schensohn, weissage und sprich: So spricht der HERR: Sprich: Das Schwert, ja, das Schwert ist geschärft und geschliffen!

'Son of man, prophesy, and thou hast said, Thus said Jehovah, say: A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also polished.

10 einer Metzelei ist es geschärft; damit es blinke und blitze, ist es geschliffen. Oder sollen wir uns freuen? Die für meinen Sohn bestimmte Rute verachtet alles Holz.

So as to slaughter a slaughter it is sharpened. So as to have brightness it is polished, Desire hath rejoiced the sceptre of my son, It is despising every tree.

11 hat das Schwert zu schleifen gegeben, um es in die Hand zu nehmen. Das Schwert ist geschärft und geschliffen, damit man es dem Würger in die Hand gebe.

And he giveth it for polishing, For laying hold of by the hand. It is sharpened — the sword — and polished, To give it into the hand of a slayer.

12 reie und heule, Menschensohn! Denn es geht wider mein Volk, es geht wider alle Fürsten Israels; mit meinem Volk sind sie dem Schwerte verfallen! Darum schlage auf die Hüfte!

Cry and howl, son of man, For it hath been among My people, It [is] among all the princes of Israel, Cast unto the sword have been My people. Therefore strike on thy thigh,

13 n es ist eine Prüfung; und wie ginge es, wenn die verachtende Rute nicht wäre? spricht Gott, der HERR.

Because [it is] a trier, And what if even the sceptre it is despising? It shall not be, an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

14 du, Menschensohn, weissage und schlage die Hände zusammen! Denn das Schwert wird zweifach, ja dreifach kommen! Ein Mordschwert ist es, ein großes Mordschwert, das sie umkreist.

And thou, son of man, prophesy, And smite hand on hand, And bent is the sword a third time, The sword of the wounded! It [is] the sword of the wounded — the great one, That is entering the inner chamber to them.

15 daß die Herzen verzagen und die Gefallenen zahlreich werden an allen ihren Toren, habe ich wider sie das drohende Schwert gezogen. Wehe, zum Blitzen ist es gemacht, zur Schlachtung geschärft!

To melt the heart, and to multiply the ruins, By all their gates I have set the point of a sword. Ah, it is made for brightness, Wrapped up for slaughter.

16 e zur Rechten, wende dich zur Linken, wohin deine Schneide bestellt ist!

Take possession of the right, place thyself at the left, Whither thy face is appointed.

17 will ich auch meine Hände zusammenschlagen und meinen Grimm stillen! Ich, der HERR, habe es gesagt! -

And I also, I smite My hand on my hand, And have caused My fury to rest; I, Jehovah, have spoken.'

18 ner erging das Wort des HERRN also an mich:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

19 aber, Menschensohn, zeichne dir zwei Wege, auf denen das Schwert des Königs von Babel kommen soll! Von einem Lande sollen sie beide ausgehen. Mache einen Wegweiser an den Anfang des Weges zur Stadt.

'And thou, son of man, appoint for thee two ways, for the coming in of the sword of the king of Babylon; from one land they come forth, both of them, and a station prepare thou, at the top of the way of the city prepare [it].

20 he den Weg so, daß das Schwert sowohl nach Rabba der Kinder Ammon als auch nach Judäa und zur Festung Jerusalem kommen kann.

A way appoint for the coming of the sword, Unto Rabbath of the sons of Ammon, And to Judah, in Jerusalem — the fenced.

21 n der König von Babel steht an der Wegscheide, am Anfang der beiden Wege, um die Wahrsager zur befragen; er lost mit den Pfeilen, befragt die Teraphim und besieht die Leber.

For stood hath the king of Babylon at the head of the way, At the top of the two ways, to use divination, He hath moved lightly with the arrows, He hath asked at the teraphim, He hath looked on the liver.

22 seine Rechte fällt das Los «Jerusalem», daß er Sturmböcke heranführen lasse und den Befehl zum Angriff gebe, daß man ein Kriegsgeschrei erhebe, Sturmböcke gegen die Tore aufstelle, einen Wall aufwerfe und Bollwerke baue.

At his right hath been the divination — Jerusalem, To place battering-rams, To open the mouth with slaughter, To lift up a voice with shouting, To place battering-rams against the gates, To pour out a mount, to build a fortification.

23 r sie halten es für eine falsche Wahrsagung, wegen der Eide, die geschworen wurden; jener aber bringt ihre Missetat in Erinnerung, damit sie gefangen werden.

And it hath been to them as a false divination in their eyes, Who have sworn oaths to them, And he is causing iniquity to be remembered to be caught.

24 um spricht Gott, der HERR: Weil ihr eure Missetat in Erinnerung bringet, indem ihr eure Übertretungen aufdecket, so daß eure Sünden in allen euren Taten offenbar werden; weil ihr euch in Erinnerung bringt, so sollt ihr stehenden Fußes gefangen genommen werden!

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of your causing your iniquity to be remembered, In your transgressions being revealed, For your sins being seen, in all your doings, Because of your being remembered, By the hand ye are caught.

25 aber, gottloser Frevler, Fürst Israels, dessen Tag kommt zur Zeit, da deiner Missetat ein Ende gemacht wird,

And thou, wounded, wicked one, Prince of Israel, whose day hath come, In the time of the iniquity of the end!

26 spricht Gott, der HERR: Fort mit dem Turban, herunter mit der Krone! So soll's sein und nicht anders: Das Niedrige soll erhöht, und das Hohe soll erniedrigt werden!

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Turn aside the mitre, and bear away the crown, This — not this — the low make high, And the high make low.

27 ichte, zunichte, zunichte will ich sie machen, sie soll nicht mehr sein, bis der kommt, dem das Recht zusteht, dem werde ich sie geben!

An overturn, overturn, overturn, I make it, Also this hath not been till the coming of Him, Whose [is] the judgment, and I have given it.

28 du, Menschensohn, weissage und sprich: So spricht Gott, der HERR, betreffs der Kinder Ammon und ihrer Lästerung, nämlich: Das Schwert, ja, das Schwert ist schon gezückt zur Schlachtung und geschliffen zum Vertilgen, daß es blitze

And thou, son of man, prophesy, and thou hast said: Thus said the Lord Jehovah concerning the sons of Ammon, and concerning their reproach: and thou hast said: A sword, a sword, open for slaughter, Polished to the utmost for brightness!

29 rend man dich durch Weissagung täuschte, dir Lügen wahrsagte, um dich zu den Hälsen der gottlosen Frevler zu legen, deren Tag kommt zu der Zeit, da der Missetat ein Ende gemacht wird.

In the seeing for thee of a vain thing, In the divining for thee of a lie, To put thee on the necks of the wounded of the wicked, whose day hath come, In the time of the iniquity of the end.

30 cke es wieder in die Scheide! An dem Orte, da du erschaffen wurdest, in deinem Heimatland, will ich dich richten.

Turn [it] back unto its scabbard, In the place where thou wast produced, In the land of thy birth I do judge thee.

31 ich will meinen Grimm über dich ausschütten und das Feuer meines Zornes gegen dich anfachen und dich rohen Leuten ausliefern, welche Verderben schmieden.

And I have poured on thee Mine indignation, With fire of My wrath I blow against thee, And have given thee into the hand of brutish men — artificers of destruction.

32 sollst dem Feuer zum Fraße werden; dein Blut soll mitten im Lande liegen bleiben; man wird deiner nicht gedenken; ja, ich, der HERR, habe es gesagt!

To the fire thou art for fuel, Thy blood is in the midst of the land, Thou art not remembered, For I, Jehovah, have spoken!'
