Hesekiel 15
1 Und das Wort des HERRN erging also an mich:
And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
2 Menschensohn, was hat das Holz der Rebe vor allen Schlingpflanzen voraus, die sich unter den Bäumen des Waldes befinden?
Son of man, what is the wood of the vine more than any wood, —a branch, that is among the trees of the forest?
3 Nimmt man auch Holz davon, um es zu einer Arbeit zu verwenden? Nimmt man auch davon einen Pflock, um irgend ein Gerät daran zu hängen?
Shall wood be taken from it to be wrought into any work? Or will men take a pin of it to hang a vessel upon?
4 Siehe, man wirft es ins Feuer, daß es verzehrt werde; wenn das Feuer seine beiden Enden verzehrt hat und es in der Mitte angebrannt ist, eignet es sich dann noch zur Verarbeitung?
Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the middle of it is burned. Is it then fit for any work?
5 Siehe, also es noch ganz war, konnte man nichts daraus machen; wie viel weniger, wenn es nun vom Feuer verzehrt und versengt ist, kann es noch verarbeitet werden!
Behold, when it was whole, nothing could be made of it; how much less can anything be made of it when the fire hath devoured it and it is burned!
6 Darum spricht Gott, der HERR, also: Wie ich das Holz der Rebe unter den Bäumen des Waldes dem Feuer zur Nahrung bestimmt habe, so habe ich auch die Einwohner Jerusalems preisgegeben.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give to it the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 Und ich will mein Angesicht wider sie setzen; sie sind zwar dem Feuer entgangen; aber das Feuer soll sie doch verzehren! Als dann werdet ihr erfahren, daß ich der HERR bin, wenn ich mein Angesicht wider sie setze.
And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I set my face against them.
8 Und ich will das Land zur Wüste machen, weil sie so treulos gehandelt haben, spricht Gott, der HERR.
And I will make the land desolate, because they have grievously trespassed, saith the Lord Jehovah.
