Epheser 2
1 Auch euch, die ihr tot waret, durch eure Übertretungen und Sünden,
Even you, being dead to offenses and sins,
2 in welchen ihr einst wandeltet nach dem Lauf dieser Welt, nach dem Fürsten, der in der Luft herrscht, dem Geiste, der jetzt in den Kindern des Unglaubens wirkt, (aiōn g165)
in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is actively at work in the sons of disobedience: (aiōn g165)
3 unter welchen auch wir alle einst einhergingen in den Lüsten unsres Fleisches, indem wir den Willen des Fleisches und der Gedanken taten; und wir waren Kinder des Zorns von Natur, gleichwie die andern.
among whom also we all formerly lived in the desires of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the feelings, and were by nature children of wrath, even as others:
4 Gott aber, der da reich ist an Erbarmen, hat durch seine große Liebe, womit er uns liebte,
but God, being rich in mercy, on account of his great love with which he loved us,
5 auch uns, die wir tot waren durch die Sünden, samt Christus lebendig gemacht (aus Gnaden seid ihr gerettet)
made alive with Christ even us, being dead to our offenses, (by grace you are saved, )
6 und hat uns mitauferweckt und mitversetzt in die himmlischen [Regionen] in Christus Jesus,
and raised us up, and made us sit together in heavenly places, in Christ Jesus;
7 auf daß er in den darauffolgenden Zeiten den überschwenglichen Reichtum seiner Gnade erzeigte durch Güte gegen uns in Christus Jesus. (aiōn g165)
that he might show, in the ages to come, the exceeding riches of his grace by his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)
8 Denn durch die Gnade seid ihr gerettet, vermittels des Glaubens, und das nicht aus euch, Gottes Gabe ist es;
For by grace you have been saved through the faith; and this matter is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God:
9 nicht aus Werken, damit niemand sich rühme.
not by works, lest any one should boast.
10 Denn wir sind sein Werk, erschaffen in Christus Jesus zu guten Werken, welche Gott zuvor bereitet hat, daß wir darin wandeln sollen.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God before prepared, that we should walk in them.
11 Darum gedenket daran, daß ihr, die ihr einst Heiden im Fleische waret und Unbeschnittene genannt wurdet von der sogenannten Beschneidung, die am Fleisch mit der Hand geschieht,
For which reason, remember that you were formerly Gen tiles, by natural descent, and that you are called Uncircumcision by the Circumcision; so called, from a mark made in the flesh by hands;
12 daß ihr zu jener Zeit außerhalb Christus waret, entfremdet von der Bürgerschaft Israels und fremd den Bündnissen der Verheißung und keine Hoffnung hattet und ohne Gott waret in der Welt.
that you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the community of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and having no God in the world:
13 Nun aber, in Christus Jesus, seid ihr, die ihr einst ferne waret, nahe gebracht worden durch das Blut Christi.
but now, in Christ Jesus, you, who were formerly far off, have become near, by the blood of the Christ.
14 Denn er ist unser Friede, der aus beiden eins gemacht und des Zaunes Scheidewand abgebrochen hat,
For he is our peace, who has made both parties one, and broken down the partition wall that separated us,
15 indem er in seinem Fleische die Feindschaft (das Gesetz der Gebote in Satzungen) abtat, um so die zwei in ihm selbst zu einem neuen Menschen zu schaffen und Frieden zu stiften,
having abolished, in his flesh, the cause of enmity, the law of commandments in ordinances, that he might, by himself, form the two into one new man, thus making peace;
16 und um die beiden in einem Leibe durch das Kreuz mit Gott zu versöhnen, nachdem er durch dasselbe die Feindschaft getötet hatte.
and that he might reconcile both, in one body, to God, through the cross, having by it put to death the cause of enmity;
17 Und er kam und verkündigte Frieden euch, den Fernen, und Frieden den Nahen;
and having come, he preached peace to you who were far off, and to those who were near:
18 denn durch ihn haben wir beide den Zutritt zum Vater in einem Geist.
for, through him, we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.
19 So seid ihr nun nicht mehr Fremdlinge und Gäste, sondern Mitbürger der Heiligen und Gottes Hausgenossen,
Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,
20 auferbaut auf die Grundlage der Apostel und Propheten, während Jesus Christus selber der Eckstein ist,
having been builded upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone,
21 in welchem der ganze Bau, zusammengefügt, wächst zu einem heiligen Tempel im Herrn,
in whom the whole building, compactly fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
22 in welchem auch ihr miterbaut werdet zu einer Behausung Gottes im Geist.
in whom you also are builded together, for a dwelling-place of God by his Spirit.
