5 Mose 7

1 Wenn der HERR, dein Gott, dich in das Land bringt, darein du kommen wirst, um es einzunehmen, und wenn er vor dir her viele Völker vertilgt, die Hetiter, die Girgasiter, die Amoriter, die Kanaaniter, die Pheresiter, die Heviter und die Jebusiter, sieben Völker, die größer und stärker sind als du;

When Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land which thou art going in to possess, and shall clear away many nations from before thee—the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites, and the Canaanites and the Perizzites, and the Hivites and the Jebusites—seven nations greater in number and stronger than thou;

2 und wenn sie der HERR, dein Gott, vor dir hingibt, daß du sie schlägst, so sollst du an ihnen den Bann vollstrecken; du sollst keinen Bund mit ihnen machen und ihnen keine Gnade erzeigen.

and Yahweh thy God shall deliver them up before thee, and thou shalt smite them, thou shalt devote them to destruction, thou shalt not solemnise with them a covenant neither shalt thou shew them favour;

3 Und du sollst dich mit ihnen nicht verschwägern; du sollst deine Töchter nicht ihren Söhnen geben, noch ihre Töchter für deine Söhne nehmen;

neither shalt thou intermarry with them, —thy daughter, shalt thou not give unto his son, nor his daughter, shalt thou take for thy son;

4 denn sie werden deine Söhne von mir abwendig machen, daß sie andern Göttern dienen; so wird dann der Zorn des HERRN über euch ergrimmen und euch bald vertilgen.

for he will turn aside thy son from following me, and they will serve other gods, —so shall the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you, and he will destroy thee, speedily.

5 Sondern also sollt ihr mit ihnen tun: Ihre Altäre sollt ihr niederreißen, ihre Bildsäulen zerbrechen, ihre Astartenbilder zerschlagen und ihre Götzen mit Feuer verbrennen.

Verily, thus, shall ye do unto them: Their altars, shall ye tear down, And their pillars, shall ye break in pieces, —And their sacred stems, shall ye hew down, And their carved images, shall ye burn up in the fire.

6 Denn du bist ein dem HERRN, deinem Gott, heiliges Volk; dich hat der HERR, dein Gott, aus allen Völkern, die auf Erden sind, zum Volk des Eigentums erwählt.

For a holy people, art thou unto Yahweh thy God: of thee, hath Yahweh thy God, made choice, that thou shouldest become his people as a treasure, above all the peoples that are on the face of the ground:

7 Nicht darum, weil ihr zahlreicher wäret als alle Völker, hat der HERR Lust zu euch gehabt und euch erwählt; denn ihr seid das geringste unter allen Völkern;

not because ye were more in number than any of the peoples, did Yahweh become attached to you and make choice of you, —for, ye, were fewer than any of the peoples;

8 sondern weil der HERR euch liebte und weil er den Eid halten wollte, den er euren Vätern geschworen, darum hat der HERR euch mit mächtiger Hand ausgeführt und dich von dem Diensthause aus der Hand des Pharao, des Königs von Ägypten, erlöst.

but because Yahweh loved you and because he would keep the oath which he sware unto your fathers, did Yahweh bring you forth with a firm hand, —and redeem thee out of the house of servants, out of the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

9 So sollst du nun wissen, daß der HERR, dein Gott, der wahre Gott ist, der treue Gott, welcher den Bund und die Gnade denen bewahrt, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote bewahren, auf tausend Geschlechter;

So then, thou must know that, Yahweh thy God, he, is God, —the faithful GOD, keeping his covenant and his lovingkindness with them that love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations

10 er vergilt aber auch einem jeden, der ihn haßt, ins Angesicht und bringt ihn um; er versäumt nicht, dem zu vergelten, der ihn haßt, sondern bezahlt ihm ins Angesicht.

but requiting them who hate him unto his face to destroy them, —he will not be slack towards him that hateth him, unto his face, will he requite him.

11 So sollst du nun die Gebote, Satzungen und Rechte bewahren, die ich dir heute gebiete, daß du sie tuest!

So shalt thou keep the commandment and the statutes and the regulations, which I am commanding thee to-day, to do them.

12 Und es wird geschehen, wenn ihr diese Rechte höret, sie bewahret und tut, so wird der HERR, dein Gott, auch dir den Bund und die Gnade bewahren, die er deinen Vätern geschworen hat.

Then shall it come to pass if ye will hearken unto these regulations, and keep and do them, then will Yahweh thy God keep with thee the covenant and the lovingkindness which he sware unto thy fathers;

13 Und er wird dich lieben und dich segnen und mehren; er wird segnen die Frucht deines Leibes und die Frucht deines Landes, dein Korn, deinen Most und dein Öl, den Wurf deiner Kühe und die Zucht deiner Schafe, in dem Lande, das er deinen Vätern geschworen hat, dir zu geben.

and will love thee, and bless thee and multiply thee, —and bless the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground thy corn and thy new wine and thine oil the young of thy kine and the ewes of thy flock, upon the soil which he swart unto thy fathers to give unto thee.

14 Du wirst vor allen Völkern gesegnet werden. Es wird kein Unfruchtbarer und keine Unfruchtbare unter dir sein, auch nicht unter deinem Vieh.

Blessed shalt thou be beyond all the peoples, —there shall not be in thee a barren male or female, nor among thy cattle;

15 Der HERR wird alle Krankheiten von dir tun und wird keine von den bösen Seuchen der Ägypter, die du gesehen hast, auf dich legen, sondern wird sie allen denen zufügen, die dich hassen.

and Yahweh, will turn away, from thee, all disease, —and as for all the sore sicknesses of Egypt which thou knowest, he will not lay them upon thee, but will put them upon all who hate thee;

16 Du wirst alle Völker verschlingen, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt. Dein Auge soll ihrer nicht schonen, und du sollst ihren Göttern nicht dienen; denn das würde dir zur Schlinge werden.

and thou shalt devour all the peoples whom, Yahweh thy God, is delivering up unto thee, thine eye shall not look with pity upon them, neither shalt thou serve their gods, for a snare, would it be unto thee.

17 Wirst du aber in deinem Herzen sagen: Diese Völker sind zahlreicher als ich, wie kann ich sie vertreiben?

Although thou mightest say in thy heart: More in number, are these nations than I, —how can, I dispossess them?

18 so fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen! Gedenke doch an das, was der HERR, dein Gott, dem Pharao und allen Ägyptern getan hat;

thou must not be afraid of them, —thou must, remember, what Yahweh thy God did, unto Pharaoh and unto all Egypt:

19 an die gewaltigen Proben, die du mit Augen gesehen hast, an die Zeichen und Wunder und an die mächtige Hand und den ausgestreckten Arm, womit der HERR, dein Gott, dich ausführte. Also wird der HERR, dein Gott, allen Völkern tun, vor denen du dich fürchtest!

the great provings which thine own eyes saw, and the signs and the wonders and the firm hand and the stretched-out arm, wherewith Yahweh thy God brought thee forth, —so, will Yahweh thy God do unto all the peoples, before whom thou art afraid.

20 Dazu wird der HERR, dein Gott, Hornissen unter sie senden, um die Übriggebliebenen umzubringen, die sich vor dir verbergen.

Moreover also, the hornet, will Yahweh thy God send among them, —until they are destroyed who are left remaining, and who are hiding themselves from thy face.

21 Laß dir nicht grauen vor ihnen, denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist unter dir, ein großer und schrecklicher Gott.

Thou shalt not be affrighted at their presence, —for Yahweh thy God in thy midst is a Go great and to be revered.

22 Und zwar wird der HERR, dein Gott, diese Völker nach und nach vertreiben; du kannst sie nicht rasch aufreiben, sonst würden sich die Tiere des Feldes zu deinem Schaden vermehren.

So will Yahweh thy God, clear away these nations from before thee little by little, —thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the wild beast of the field should multiply ever thee.

23 Der HERR, dein Gott, wird sie vor dir hingeben und sie in große Verwirrung bringen, bis sie vertilgt sind.

But Yahweh thy God will deliver them up before thee, —and discomfit them with a great discomfiture, until they are destroyed;

24 Und er wird ihre Könige in deine Hand geben, und du sollst ihre Namen unter dem Himmel austilgen. Niemand wird dir widerstehen, bis du sie vertilgt hast.

and will deliver their kings into thy hand and thou shalt destroy their name, from under the heavens, —not a man shall stand before thee, until thou hast destroyed them.

25 Die Bilder ihrer Götter sollst du mit Feuer verbrennen; und du sollst nicht begehren des Silbers oder Goldes, das daran ist, und es nicht zu dir nehmen, daß du nicht dadurch gefangen werdest; denn solches ist dem HERRN, deinem Gott, ein Greuel.

The carved images of their gods, shalt thou consume with fire, —thou shalt not covet the silver and gold upon them to take unto thee, lest thou be ensnared thereby; for the abomination of Yahweh thy God, it is;

26 Darum sollst du den Greuel nicht in dein Haus bringen, daß du nicht in den gleichen Bann kommest wie sie; sie sollen dir ein Abscheu und ein Greuel sein; denn sie sind dem Bann verfallen!

and thou shalt not bring an abomination into thy house, and so become devoted to destruction, like it, thou shalt, abhor, it, and thou shalt, loathe it, because a thing devoted to destruction, it is.
