5 Mose 18

1 Die Priester, die Leviten, der ganze Stamm Levi sollen kein Teil noch Erbe haben mit Israel; sie sollen die Feueropfer des HERRN und sein Erbteil essen.

The priests, the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: the fire-offerings of the Lord, and his inheritance shall they consume.

2 Darum sollen sie kein Erbe unter ihren Brüdern haben, weil der HERR ihr Erbe ist, wie er ihnen versprochen hat.

But any inheritance shall he not have among his brethren: the Lord is his inheritance, as he hath spoken unto him.

3 Das soll aber das Recht der Priester sein, was ihnen vonseiten des Volkes zusteht, von seiten derer, welche opfern, es sei ein Ochs oder Schaf: man soll dem Priester den Bug, die Kinnladen und den Magen geben.

And this shall be the priests' due from the people, from them that slay an animal, whether it be ox or lamb: then shall each one give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

4 Die Erstlinge deines Korns, deines Mosts und deines Öls, und die Erstlinge von der Schur deiner Schafe sollst du ihm geben.

The first-fruit of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thy oil, and the first shearing of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.

5 Denn ihn hat der HERR, dein Gott, aus allen deinen Stämmen erwählt, damit er stehe und im Namen des HERRN diene, er und seine Söhne, ihr Leben lang.

For him the Lord thy God hath chosen out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the Lord, he and his sons all the days.

6 Wenn nun ein Levit kommt aus irgend einem deiner Tore, aus ganz Israel, wo er wohnt, und nach aller Lust seiner Seele an den Ort kommt, den der HERR erwählt hat,

And if the Levite come from any one of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourneth, and come with all the longing of his soul unto the place which the Lord will choose:

7 so lasse man ihn dienen im Namen des HERRN, seines Gottes, wie alle seine Brüder, die Leviten, die daselbst vor dem HERRN stehen;

Then can he minister in the name of the Lord his God, like all his brethren the Levites, who stand there before the Lord.

8 sie sollen sich in die Speise teilen, abgesehen von dem Erlös, den einer von seinem väterlichen Vermögen hat.

They shall have like portions to eat, besides that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony.

9 Wenn du in das Land kommst, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir geben wird, so sollst du nicht lernen tun nach den Greueln jener Heiden.

When thou comest into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

10 Es soll niemand unter dir gefunden werden, der seinen Sohn oder seine Tochter durchs Feuer gehen lasse, oder ein Wahrsager, oder ein Wolkendeuter oder ein Schlangenbeschwörer, oder ein Zauberer,

There shall not be found among thee any one who causeth his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who useth divination, one who is an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a conjurer.

11 oder ein Bannsprecher oder ein Medium, oder einer, der einen Wahrsagergeist hat, oder jemand, der die Toten befragt.

Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or who inquireth of the dead.

12 Denn wer solches tut, ist dem HERRN ein Greuel, und um solcher Greuel willen treibt der HERR, dein Gott, sie vor dir aus.

For an abomination unto the Lord are all that do these things; and on account of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 Du aber sollst dich gänzlich halten an den HERRN, deinen Gott;

Perfect shalt thou be with the Lord thy God.

14 denn diese Völker, die du austreiben sollst, gehorchen den Wolkendeutern und den Wahrsagern; dir aber hat es der HERR, dein Gott, nicht also bestimmt.

For these nations, which thou art about to dispossess, hearken unto observers of times, and unto diviners; but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not assigned the like unto thee.

15 Einen Propheten wie mich wird dir der HERR, dein Gott, erwecken aus deiner Mitte, aus deinen Brüdern; auf den sollst du hören!

A prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me, will the Lord thy God raise up unto thee; unto him shall ye hearken:

16 Wie du denn von dem HERRN, deinem Gott, am Horeb, am Tage der Versammlung begehrt hast, indem du sprachest: Ich will fortan die Stimme des HERRN, meines Gottes, nicht mehr hören und das große Feuer nicht mehr sehen, damit ich nicht sterbe!

According to all that thou didst desire of the Lord thy God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, saying, I wish no more to hear the voice of the Lord my God, and this great fire I wish not to see again, that I die not.

17 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Sie haben wohl geredet.

And the Lord said unto me, They have done well in what they have spoken.

18 Ich will ihnen einen Propheten, wie du bist, aus ihren Brüdern erwecken und meine Worte in seinen Mund geben; der soll zu ihnen reden alles, was ich ihm gebieten werde.

A prophet will I raise up unto them from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I may command him.

19 Und wer auf meine Worte nicht hören will, die er in meinem Namen reden wird, von demselben will ich es fordern!

And it shall come to pass, that if there be a man who will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him.

20 Wenn aber ein Prophet vermessen ist, in meinem Namen zu reden, was ich ihm nicht zu reden geboten habe, und im Namen anderer Götter redet, so soll dieser Prophet sterben!

But the prophet, who may presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who may speak in the name of other Gods even that prophet shall die.

21 Wenn du aber in deinem Herzen sagen würdest: Wie können wir merken, welches Wort der HERR nicht geredet hat?

And if thou shouldst say in thy heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken?

22 [dann wisse: ] Wenn der Prophet im Namen des HERRN redet, und es wird nichts daraus und trifft nicht ein, so ist es ein Wort, das der HERR nicht geredet hat; der Prophet hat aus Vermessenheit geredet, darum erschrick nicht vor ihm!

That which the prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, and the thing do not happen and come not to pass— this is the word which the Lord hath not spoken; in presumption hath the prophet spoken it; thou shalt not be afraid of him.
