Apostelgeschichte 20
1 Nachdem sich aber der Tumult gelegt hatte, ließ Paulus die Jünger zu sich kommen und ermahnte sie; dann nahm er Abschied von ihnen und zog aus, um nach Mazedonien zu reisen.
THEN after the tumult was quieted, Paul called to him the disciples, and taking his leave, departed to go into Macedonia.
2 Und nachdem er jene Bezirke durchzogen und sie mit vielen Worten ermahnt hatte, kam er nach Griechenland.
And passing through those parts, and having exhorted them with much discourse, he went into Greece.
3 Und er brachte daselbst drei Monate zu; und da ihm die Juden, als er nach Syrien abfahren wollte, nachstellten, entschloß er sich, über Mazedonien zurückzukehren.
And after three months stay, as the Jews were lying in wait for him, when he was just embarking for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.
4 Es begleiteten ihn aber bis nach Asien Sopater, des Pyrrhus Sohn von Beröa, von den Thessalonichern Aristarchus und Sekundus, und Gajus von Derbe und Timotheus, aus Asien aber Tychikus und Trophimus.
And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater a Berean; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus, Asiatics.
5 Diese gingen voraus und warteten auf uns in Troas.
These going before tarried for us at Troas.
6 Wir aber fuhren nach den Tagen der ungesäuerten Brote von Philippi ab und kamen in fünf Tagen zu ihnen nach Troas, wo wir uns sieben Tage aufhielten.
And we sailed from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came to them to Troas after five days; where we stayed seven days.
7 Am ersten Tage der Woche aber, als wir versammelt waren, um das Brot zu brechen, unterredete sich Paulus mit ihnen, da er am folgenden Tage abreisen wollte, und dehnte die Rede bis Mitternacht aus.
And on the first day of the week, when the disciples were assembled to break bread, Paul preached unto them (ready to depart on the morrow), and extended his discourse until midnight.
8 Es waren aber zahlreiche Lampen in dem Obersaal, wo wir versammelt waren.
Now there were many lamps in the upper room, where they were assembled.
9 Und ein Jüngling namens Eutychus saß am Fenster; der sank in einen tiefen Schlaf, weil Paulus so lange redete, und vom Schlaf überwältigt, fiel er vom dritten Stock hinab und wurde tot aufgehoben.
And a certain youth named Eutytchus, who sat in the window, fell into a profound sleep: as Paul discoursed much longer than usual, quite overpowered with sleep, he fell down from a third story, and was taken up dead.
10 Da ging Paulus hinab und warf sich über ihn, umfaßte ihn und sprach: Machet keinen Lärm; denn seine Seele ist in ihm!
But Paul came down, and fell upon him, and taking him in his arms, said, Trouble not yourselves, for his life is yet in him.
11 Und er ging wieder hinauf und brach das Brot, aß und unterredete sich noch lange mit ihnen, bis der Tag anbrach, und zog alsdann fort.
And when he had gone up, and broken bread, and eaten, and conversed a long time, even to the break of day, he then departed.
12 Sie brachten aber den Knaben lebendig und waren nicht wenig getröstet.
And they brought the lad alive, and were comforted exceedingly.
13 Wir aber gingen voraus zum Schiff und fuhren nach Assus, um dort Paulus aufzunehmen; denn so hatte er es angeordnet, weil er zu Fuß reisen wollte.
Then we going before to the ship, sailed for Assos, intending there to take in Paul: for so he had ordered, meaning himself to walk thither.
14 Als er aber in Assus mit uns zusammentraf, nahmen wir ihn auf und kamen nach Mitylene.
And when he met us at Assos, we took him up, and came to Mytelene.
15 Und von dort segelten wir ab und kamen am folgenden Tage auf die Höhe von Chios; tags darauf aber fuhren wir nach Samos, und nachdem wir in Trogyllium geblieben waren, gelangten wir am nächsten Tage nach Milet.
And sailing from thence, on the following day we advanced over against Chios; and the next day we touched at Samos, and staying at Trogyllium, the day following we came to Miletus.
16 Denn Paulus hatte beschlossen, an Ephesus vorbeizusegeln, damit er in Asien nicht zu viel Zeit zubringen müßte, denn er eilte, um, wenn es ihm möglich wäre, auf den Tag der Pfingsten in Jerusalem zu sein.
For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, that he might not spend the time in Asia: for he hastened on, if it was possible for him, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
17 Von Milet aber schickte er gen Ephesus und ließ die Ältesten der Gemeinde herüberrufen.
So he sent to Ephesus from Miletus, and called the presbyters of the church to attend him.
18 Und als sie zu ihm gekommen waren, sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr wißt, wie ich mich vom ersten Tag an, als ich Asien betrat, die ganze Zeit unter euch verhalten habe,
And when they were come unto him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the very first day in which I entered into Asia, how I have been among you at every season,
19 daß ich dem Herrn diente mit aller Demut, unter Tränen und Anfechtungen, die mir durch die Nachstellungen der Juden widerfuhren;
serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears and trials, which have befallen me through the lying in wait of the Jews:
20 wie ich nichts von dem, was nützlich ist, verschwiegen habe, daß ich es euch nicht verkündigt und gelehrt hätte, öffentlich und in den Häusern,
and that I have suppressed nothing which could conduce to your profiting; not desisting from preaching to you, and teaching you in public, and from house to house,
21 indem ich Juden und Griechen die Buße zu Gott und den Glauben an unsern Herrn Jesus Christus bezeugt habe.
repeatedly urging both on Jews and Greeks repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 Und nun siehe, gebunden im Geiste reise ich nach Jerusalem, ohne zu wissen, was mir dort begegnen wird,
And now behold I am going, bound by the Spirit, unto Jerusalem, not knowing what things shall there befal me:
23 außer daß der heilige Geist von Stadt zu Stadt mir bezeugt und sagt, daß Bande und Trübsal meiner warten.
only this, that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying, that bonds and tribulation await thee.
24 Aber ich halte mein Leben nicht der Rede wert, wenn es gilt, meinen Lauf und den Dienst zu vollenden, den ich von dem Herrn Jesus empfangen habe, nämlich das Evangelium der Gnade Gottes zu bezeugen.
Yet I make no account of any suffering, nor regard my life as of any value to myself, farther than as I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord, to testify fully the Gospel of the grace of God.
25 Und nun siehe, ich weiß, daß ihr mein Angesicht nicht mehr sehen werdet, ihr alle, bei welchen ich umhergezogen bin und das Reich Gottes gepredigt habe.
And now behold, I know that ye shall see my face no more, even ye all, among whom I have gone in and out preaching the kingdom of God.
26 Darum bezeuge ich euch am heutigen Tage, daß ich rein bin von aller Blut.
Wherefore I appeal to you this day as witnesses that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27 Denn ich habe nichts zurückbehalten, daß ich euch nicht den ganzen Ratschluß Gottes verkündigt hätte.
For I have concealed nothing, so as not repeatedly to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
28 So habt nun acht auf euch selbst und auf die ganze Herde, in welcher der heilige Geist euch zu Aufsehern gesetzt hat, die Gemeinde Gottes zu weiden, welche er durch das Blut seines eigenen Sohnes erworben hat!
Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you bishops, to feed as shepherds the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.
29 Denn das weiß ich, daß nach meinem Abschied räuberische Wölfe zu euch kommen werden, die der Herde nicht schonen;
For this I know, that after my departure there will come among you grievous wolves, not sparing the flock:
30 auch aus eurer eigenen Mitte werden Männer aufstehen, die verkehrte Dinge reden, um die Jünger auf ihre Seite zu ziehen.
Yea, from among yourselves shall men arise, speaking perverting doctrines, to draw away disciples after them.
31 Darum wachet und denket daran, daß ich drei Jahre lang Tag und Nacht nicht abgelassen habe, jeden einzelnen unter Tränen zu ermahnen.
Therefore watch, remembering that for three years, by night and by day, I have never ceased with tears to admonish every individual.
32 Und nun übergebe ich euch Gott und dem Wort seiner Gnade, ihm, der mächtig ist zu erbauen und [euch] das Erbe zu geben unter allen Geheiligten.
And now, brethren, I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to finish the superstructure, and to give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
33 Silber oder Gold oder Kleider habe ich von niemand begehrt;
The silver, or gold, or apparel of no man have I coveted:
34 ihr wißt selbst, daß für meine Bedürfnisse und für diejenigen meiner Gefährten diese Hände gesorgt haben.
but ye yourselves know that these hands have by labour furnished necessaries for my own wants, and for those who were with me.
35 Überall habe ich euch gezeigt, daß man so arbeiten und sich der Schwachen annehmen und der Worte des Herrn Jesus eingedenk sein müsse, da er selbst gesagt hat: Geben ist seliger als nehmen!
In all things I have set you the example, that so labouring hard ye ought to help the infirm, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
36 Und nachdem er solches gesagt hatte, kniete er nieder und betete mit ihnen allen.
And when he had spoken these things, he fell on his knees, and prayed with them all.
37 Da weinten alle sehr, fielen Paulus um den Hals und küßten ihn,
And all of them shed floods of tears, and fell upon Paul’s neck, and kissed him again and again,
38 schmerzlich betrübt, am meisten über das Wort, das er gesagt hatte, sie würden sein Angesicht nicht mehr sehen. Und sie geleiteten ihn zum Schiff.
most peculiarly afflicted at that word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more: and they accompanied him unto the ship.
