Apostelgeschichte 11
1 Es hörten aber die Apostel und die Brüder, die in Judäa waren, daß auch die Heiden das Wort Gottes angenommen hätten.
Now the Apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 Und als Petrus nach Jerusalem hinaufkam, machten die aus der Beschneidung ihm Vorwürfe und sprachen:
When Peter went up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision party started contending with him,
3 Du bist zu unbeschnittenen Männern hineingegangen und hast mit ihnen gegessen!
saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”
4 Da hob Petrus an und erzählte ihnen alles der Reihe nach und sprach:
So Peter began by explaining it to them in order, saying:
5 Ich war in der Stadt Joppe und betete; da sah ich in der Verzückung ein Gesicht, ein Gefäß herabkommen, wie ein großes, leinenes Tuch, das an vier Enden vom Himmel herniedergelassen wurde, und es kam bis zu mir.
“I was in the town of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision: a certain object like a great sheet coming down out of the sky, being lowered by its four corners; and it came to me.
6 Als ich nun hineinblickte und es betrachtete, sah ich die vierfüßigen Tiere der Erde und die wilden und kriechenden Tiere und die Vögel des Himmels.
Upon peering into it I observed and distinguished the quadrupeds of the earth—both the wild animals and the reptiles—and the birds of the sky.
7 Und ich hörte eine Stimme, die zu mir sprach: Steh auf, Petrus, schlachte und iß!
Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter, slaughter and eat!’
8 Ich aber sprach: Keineswegs, Herr; denn nie ist etwas Gemeines oder Unreines in meinen Mund gekommen!
So I said: ‘No way, Lord! Never has anything ‘common’ or unclean entered my mouth!’
9 Aber eine Stimme vom Himmel antwortete mir zum zweitenmal: Was Gott gereinigt hat, das halte du nicht für gemein!
But the voice answered me, a second time, from heaven, ‘Things that God has made clean you must not call ‘common’.’
10 Dies geschah aber dreimal; und alles wurde wieder in den Himmel hinaufgezogen.
Well this was done three times, and it was all pulled back up into the sky.
11 Und siehe, alsbald standen vor dem Hause, worin ich war, drei Männer, die von Cäsarea zu mir gesandt worden waren.
At that very moment three men stopped in front of the house where I was, having been sent from Caesarea to me.
12 Und der Geist hieß mich mit ihnen ziehen, ohne Bedenken. Es kamen aber auch diese sechs Brüder mit mir, und wir gingen in das Haus des Mannes hinein.
The Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man's house.
13 Und er berichtete uns, wie er in seinem Hause den Engel gesehen habe, der dastand und zu ihm sagte: Sende nach Joppe und laß Simon, der Petrus zubenannt wird, holen;
He then related to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house and saying to him, ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon, who is called Peter,
14 der wird Worte zu dir reden, durch welche du gerettet werden wirst, du und dein ganzes Haus.
who will speak words to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’
15 Als ich aber zu reden anfing, fiel der heilige Geist auf sie, gleichwie auf uns am Anfang.
Well as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as on us at the beginning.
16 Da gedachte ich an das Wort des Herrn, wie er sagte: Johannes hat mit Wasser getauft, ihr aber sollt im heiligen Geist getauft werden.
I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you will be baptized with Holy Spirit.’
17 Wenn nun Gott ihnen die gleiche Gabe verliehen hat, wie auch uns, nachdem sie an den Herrn Jesus Christus gläubig geworden sind, wer war ich, daß ich Gott hätte wehren können?
So if God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed upon the Lord Jesus, who was I to be able to withstand God?”
18 Als sie aber das hörten, beruhigten sie sich und priesen Gott und sprachen: So hat denn Gott auch den Heiden die Buße zum Leben gegeben!
Upon hearing these things they acquiesced and started glorifying God, saying, “So then, God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance into life!”
19 Die nun, welche sich zerstreut hatten seit der Verfolgung, die sich wegen Stephanus erhoben hatte, zogen bis nach Phönizien und Cypern und Antiochia und redeten das Wort zu niemand, als nur zu Juden.
Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that came about in connection with Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews only.
20 Es waren aber etliche unter ihnen, Cyprier und Kyrenäer, die, als sie nach Antiochia kamen, auch zu den Griechen redeten und ihnen das Evangelium vom Herrn Jesus verkündigten.
But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who upon entering Antioch started speaking to the Greek-speakers, preaching the good news of the Lord Jesus.
21 Und die Hand des Herrn war mit ihnen, und eine große Zahl wurde gläubig und bekehrte sich zum Herrn.
And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
22 Es kam aber die Kunde von ihnen zu den Ohren der Gemeinde in Jerusalem, und sie sandten Barnabas, daß er hingehe nach Antiochia.
Well the report concerning them reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.
23 Und als er ankam und die Gnade Gottes sah, freute er sich und ermahnte alle, gemäß dem Vorsatz des Herzens bei dem Herrn zu verharren;
Upon arriving and seeing the grace of God, he was glad, and he kept encouraging them all to remain true to the Lord with purpose of heart
24 denn er war ein trefflicher Mann und voll heiligen Geistes und Glaubens; und es schloß sich dem Herrn eine beträchtliche Menge an.
(for he was a good man, full of Holy Spirit and of faith). And a considerable crowd was added to the Lord.
25 Und Barnabas zog aus nach Tarsus, um Saulus aufzusuchen, und als er ihn gefunden hatte, brachte er ihn nach Antiochia.
Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to look for Saul,
26 Es begab sich aber, daß sie ein ganzes Jahr in der Gemeinde beisammen blieben und eine beträchtliche Menge lehrten, und daß die Jünger zuerst in Antiochia Christen genannt wurden.
and upon finding him he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they met with the congregation and taught a great many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
27 In diesen Tagen aber kamen Propheten von Jerusalem hinab nach Antiochia.
Now in these days, prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.
28 Und einer von ihnen, mit Namen Agabus, trat auf und zeigte durch den Geist eine große Hungersnot an, welche über den ganzen Erdkreis kommen sollte; welche dann auch eintrat unter dem Kaiser Claudius.
One of them, named Agabus, stood up and indicated by the Spirit that a great famine was about to come upon the whole world (this indeed happened while Claudius was Caesar).
29 Da beschlossen die Jünger, daß ein jeder von ihnen gemäß seinem Vermögen den Brüdern, die in Judäa wohnten, eine Hilfeleistung senden solle;
Then the disciples, to the extent that any had plenty, each of them determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea;
30 das taten sie auch und sandten es durch die Hand von Barnabas und Saulus an die Ältesten.
which they also did, sending it to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.
