2 Timotheus 1

1 Paulus, Apostel Jesu Christi durch Gottes Willen, nach der Verheißung des Lebens in Christus Jesus,

Paul an apostle of Christ Jesus through [the] will of God according to [the] promise of life in Christ Jesus

2 an Timotheus, seinen geliebten Sohn: Gnade, Barmherzigkeit, Friede von Gott, dem Vater und Christus Jesus, unsrem Herrn!

To Timothy [my] beloved child: Grace, mercy, [and] peace from God [the] Father and Christ Jesus the Lord of us.

3 Ich danke Gott, welchem ich von den Voreltern her mit reinem Gewissen diene, wie ich unablässig deiner gedenke in meinen Gebeten Tag und Nacht,

Thankful I am to God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with a pure conscience, as unceasingly I have the of you remembrance in the prayers of mine night and day

4 voll Verlangen, dich zu sehen, eingedenk deiner Tränen, damit ich mit Freude erfüllt werde,

longing you to see, having yourself recalled your tears, so that with joy I may be filled

5 da ich die Erinnerung an deinen ungeheuchelten Glauben festhalte, der zuvor in deiner Großmutter Lois und deiner Mutter Eunike gewohnt hat, ich bin aber versichert, auch in dir.

remembrance (having taken *N(k)O*) of the within you sincere faith, which dwelt first in the grandmother of you Lois and in the mother of you Eunice, I have been persuaded now that also [it is] in you.

6 Aus diesem Grunde erinnere ich dich daran, die Gabe Gottes anzufachen, die durch Auflegung meiner Hände in dir ist;

For this reason I remind you to kindle anew the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of the hands of mine;

7 denn Gott hat uns nicht einen Geist der Furchtsamkeit gegeben, sondern der Kraft und der Liebe und der Zucht.

Not for has given us God a spirit of cowardice but of power and of love and of self-control.

8 So schäme dich nun nicht des Zeugnisses unsres Herrn, auch nicht meiner, der ich sein Gebundener bin; sondern leide Ungemach mit dem Evangelium, nach der Kraft Gottes,

Not therefore you may be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord of us nor of me myself the prisoner of Him, but do suffer together for the gospel according to [the] power of God

9 der uns gerettet und mit einem heiligen Ruf berufen hat, nicht nach unsren Werken, sondern nach seinem eigenen Vorsatz und der Gnade, die uns in Christus Jesus vor ewigen Zeiten gegeben, (aiōnios g166)

the [One who] having saved us and having called [us] with a calling holy, not according to the works of us but according to [His] own purpose and grace which having been given us in Christ Jesus before time eternal, (aiōnios g166)

10 jetzt aber geoffenbart worden ist durch die Erscheinung unsres Retters Jesus Christus, der dem Tode die Macht genommen, aber Leben und Unvergänglichkeit ans Licht gebracht hat durch das Evangelium,

having been made manifest also now through the appearing of the Savior of us Christ Jesus, having abolished indeed death, having brought to light however life and immortality through the gospel,

11 für welches ich als Prediger und Apostel und Lehrer der Heiden eingesetzt worden bin.

to which was appointed I myself a herald and an apostle and a teacher (of gentiles; *KO*)

12 Aus diesem Grunde leide ich auch solches; aber ich schäme mich dessen nicht. Denn ich weiß, wem ich mein Vertrauen geschenkt habe, und ich bin überzeugt, daß er mächtig ist, das mir anvertraute Gut zu verwahren bis auf jenen Tag.

For this reason also these things I suffer, But not I am ashamed; I know for in whom I have believed and I have been persuaded that able He is the entrusted deposit of mine to guard for that [very] day.

13 Halte dich an das Muster der gesunden Worte, die du von mir gehört hast, im Glauben und in der Liebe, die in Christus Jesus ist!

[The] pattern do retain of sound words which from me you did hear in [the] faith and love that [are] in Christ Jesus;

14 Dieses edle anvertraute Gut bewahre durch den heiligen Geist, der in uns wohnt.

The good (entrusted deposit *N(k)O*) do keep through [the] Spirit Holy who is dwelling in us.

15 Das weißt du, daß sich von mir alle abgewandt haben, die in Asien sind, unter ihnen auch Phygellus und Hermogenes.

You know this, that turned away from me all those in Asia, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

16 Der Herr erweise Barmherzigkeit dem Hause des Onesiphorus, weil er mich oft erquickt und sich meiner Ketten nicht geschämt hat;

would grant mercy the Lord to the of Onesiphorus household; because often me he refreshed and the chain of mine not (he was ashamed of, *N(k)O*)

17 sondern als er in Rom war, suchte er mich fleißig und fand mich auch.

But having arrived in Rome (earnestly *N(k)O*) he sought out me and found [me];

18 Der Herr gebe ihm, daß er Barmherzigkeit erlange vom Herrn an jenem Tage! Und wieviel er mir zu Ephesus gedient hat, weißt du am besten.

would grant unto him the Lord to find mercy from [the] Lord in that [very] day! And how much in Ephesus he served very well you yourself know.
