2 Thessalonicher 1

1 Paulus und Silvanus und Timotheus an die Gemeinde der Thessalonicher in Gott, unsrem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus.

Paul and Sylvanus and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Gnade sei mit euch und Friede von Gott, dem Vater und dem Herrn Jesus Christus!

grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Wir sind Gott allezeit zu danken schuldig für euch, Brüder, wie es sich geziemt, weil euer Glaube über die Maßen wächst und die Liebe eines jeden einzelnen von euch zunimmt allen gegenüber,

We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as it is right, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each other abounds:

4 so daß wir selbst uns euer rühmen in den Gemeinden Gottes wegen eurer Standhaftigkeit und Glaubenstreue in allen euren Verfolgungen und Drangsalen, die ihr zu ertragen habt:

so that we ourselves glory in you, among the churches of God, for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure;

5 ein Beweis des gerechten Gerichtes Gottes, daß ihr gewürdigt werdet des Königreiches Gottes, für das ihr leidet,

which endurance of yours is a proof of the righteous judgment of God, in order that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you suffer:

6 wie es denn gerecht ist vor Gott, denen, die euch bedrücken, mit Bedrückung zu vergelten,

since, indeed, it is a righteous thing with God, to repay affliction to those who afflict you,

7 euch aber, die ihr bedrückt werdet, mit Erquickung samt uns, bei der Offenbarung unsres Herrn Jesus Christus vom Himmel her, samt den Engeln seiner Kraft,

and to you that are afflicted, rest with us, at the revelation of our Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 wenn er mit Feuerflammen Rache nehmen wird an denen, die Gott nicht anerkennen und die dem Evangelium unsres Herrn Jesus nicht gehorsam sind,

in flaming fire, to take vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;

9 welche Strafe erleiden werden, ewiges Verderben, von dem Angesicht des Herrn und von der Herrlichkeit seiner Kraft, (aiōnios g166)

these shall suffer punishment in that day, even eternal destruction, far from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power, (aiōnios g166)

10 wenn er kommen wird, um an jenem Tage verherrlicht zu werden in seinen Heiligen und bewundert in denen, die gläubig geworden sind, denn unser Zeugnis hat bei euch Glauben gefunden.

when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all those who believe, and in you also, because our testimony among you was believed.

11 Zu diesem Zweck flehen wir auch allezeit für euch, daß unser Gott euch der Berufung würdig mache und alles Wohlgefallen der Güte und das Werk des Glaubens in Kraft erfülle,

In order to which, we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of this calling, and may fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power,

12 auf daß der Name unsres Herrn Jesus Christus in euch verherrlicht werde und ihr in ihm, nach der Gnade unsres Gottes und des Herrn Jesus Christus.

that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
